> the gains showed up when tokens stopped being rationed
My whole company (Amazon) has unlimited tokens, and the only thing it has led to is insane amounts of slop. Illusion of productivity.
The brand I associate with Ubuntu over Debian is increased RAM usage and extremely low performance of the UI.
> Our next project is to eliminate all 3rd party dependencies, and after that to rebuild our frontends completely using zero frameworks, not touching npm ever again after that.
What's the proportion of bugs you've encountered that was due to a library versus due to your own code? I suspect it's probably more than 1:1000.
This is a stupid decision.
Call it what it is: slop.
It has zero intrinsic value beyond the headline. The whole goal is to market LLMs if the result is successful.
Why are russian bots always so easy to spot?
Seems pretty obvious to me that it's not going to be 80 academics debating everything under the sun, but instead dedicated groups focusing on their expertise area...
It doesn't matter but CEOs are dumb fucks. Ask this guy how HE uses AI and you'll see he most likely doesn't. They don't understand how anything their company develops works.
Usually that would be fine if reporting lines were healthy, but in the AI age with top-down mandates they're not.
Just don't. Resin printers are a pain. Get an FDM (filament) printer first.
It's just a very bad picture, but every detail is perfectly coherent, it's not AI generated.
Still a baffling choice.
> To be fair, the metaphor breaks down here.
> In research the private track and the bike used are not relevant, the result is what's relevant to be opened for review and scrutiny (which OpenAI does).
Except this is not about research, it's about marketing. OpenAI claims the discoveries were made by their models to show their capabilities, so in fact the HOW is the only important thing here.
It's even worse than this. They're announcing their achievement in bicycle racing, achieved on a private track that nobody can audit, using supposedly a bike that nobody has seen before.
We know OpenAI is recruiting researchers in domains that have nothing to do with the development of AI. IMO the sole purpose is for them to work on research that can then be attributed to OpenAI's models.
> The thing to be remember about those companies you listed, none of them are software companies like Anthropic is.
Yes exactly, that's why I listed them. It's much easier for them to capture a higher revenue compared to software companies, and OP (and Amodei) want to make us believe an AI company could ever reach that revenue.
Compute is by far not the only cost associated with running a service, so, no?
Employers are reducing AI spending, not increasing it.
You're also assuming that basically the entirety of the market would go to Anthropic, rather than other providers, which makes no sense.
You are vastly over-estimating the market for AI. The extreme majority of people would never pay a dime for it.
> If the party continues, they'll go from $50b in revenue to $500b and be fine.
You really have to be insane to think that an AI company will ever reach $500B in revenue. That's almost the same as (2025) Amazon, Walmart, etc., companies with a MUCH wider market.
It is MORE than Apple, it's 5 times more than NVidia even. There is absolutely no software seller that is even remotely close to $500B in revenue.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Both Anthropic and OpenAI are marketing companies, not AI companies.
Except Scam Altman has stolen from literally everyone to train his models.
Those people do come from the HLM banlieues, doesn't say anything about their race.
How? Is a teacher unable to read an essay written in class?
I did all my studies in France, and every single grade was ALWAYS for work done in class, regardless of the subject.
Grading homework has never made sense anyway. Only grade work done in class.
In-class exams are anyway a proxy for grading homeworks, because those who don't do them will get lower grades.
It has nothing to do with the current administration. Any administration can nationalize a private company.
What's different for this administration is that neither the Congress, Senate or Supreme Court will opose them.
Why are you talking about race? I said bad neighborhoods. The vast majority of people there are white French.
The people who destroy stuff in protests in France are people coming from the bad neighborhoods that don't work legal jobs (mostly dealers) and therefore don't pay taxes. They go there to break for fun and to loot stores for profit.
> I think this is one of the consequences of the social media shift from “follow the people you like and we’ll give you a feed of them” to “we’ll programmatically determine what you, specifically, would most likely enjoy.”
It's a shift from social media to entertainment media. Even Zuckerberg said it himself, his apps are NOT social media anymore.
> They have, as the joke goes, more money than God and influence all over the world. They are beholden to no one.
The administration can take over them with the snap of a finger if they so desire. They have absolutely no power.
The best example of that is the BBC suit, where the only reason it's happening is because the US doesn't have any control over the entity because it's British.
Why is the title "a dozen", when the link given in the post covers hundreds of banks that support it?
I can't think of any country with a competent police force.
The problem is that in most countries (except the US), it is an extremely badly paid job, so it only attracts people who get something else from it: power.
I believe she's innocent, but neither the ISP nor the iOS version are proof of innocence in any way. You can go login from the neighborhood Starbucks and you can simply update your phone.
No maintenance burden except when you need to add a menu item and have to edit hundreds of pages.
