That would make you 11th fastest player in the world.

The world record is 15:01.

Why couldn't you say it now?

I had the idea young people are having less sex than the generations before.

Do you have a link to the post about Boole?
Re:Oat Milk Could Change the Way You Drink Coffee (2018) on Tuesday January 29, 2019 @09:11AM (#19026365)
IIRC they can't be sold as "milk" inside the EU, they're usually called some variation of "beverage" or "drink". The only product that can be labelled as "milk" has to be produced, as you said, by mammals.

I didn't know about outline and now I love it, thank you very much.

That link requires to be registered in the site.

Would you be able to post another link or just the citation?

Re:Extracting Super Mario Bros levels with Python on Saturday June 30, 2018 @06:58AM (#17430351)
I am not by any means an SMW expert but lately I've developed a keen interest on the SMW romhack scene.

If what you want to do is extract a level and/or play around with level creation the golden standard tool is Lunar Magic [0].

There are some forums with information about rom hacking, level creation, music creation and so on for SMW, like SMWCentral [1].

I actually believe the intent is the opposite.

I think the PR people are just trying to sell Fokas as a polymath genius. "Look, he is not only a mathematician but also an MD, wow!"

Re:Like startups, most intentional communities fail. Why? on Thursday March 02, 2017 @02:54PM (#13777598)
Does anyone have references to books about this topic?

I'd be interested in reading about it.

For complex numbers it usually means the modulus of z is larger than zero.

I've seen a lot of them in Spain and I can confirm those are absolutely terrible
Re:Hyperinflation in America: The End of Grades? on Friday June 24, 2016 @06:26AM (#11968512)
Isn't that mostly what happened? US pushing science and education during the Cold War to compete against the USSR?
I'm replying (I hope) just in time to wish you luck with your talk, which seemed to me, as a mathematician, incredibly interesting.

Also I'd like to wish you luck with your endeavors!

For other people confused about the meaning of BP in this context, it means Benjamin Pierce Fellow.

It appears this talk was given in the context of the Benjamin Pierce Centennial Conference:

I don't understand this and I do follow US politics. What mortgage?
Re:Explained Visually is now open source on Sunday April 26, 2015 @08:23AM (#9441511)
You've piqued my interest.

Would you mind explaining it in a few words?

Re:How to write a great research paper [pdf] on Tuesday December 31, 2013 @07:38AM (#6990180)
The link he gives at the end, Advice on research and writing, is dead.

I believe the updated link would be http://http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mleone/how-to.html

Re:Warsow 1.0 Released on Friday August 03, 2012 @12:46PM (#4334779)
Hi, fellow CPM fan here.

Just in case your preference for Warsow is solely based on the lack of promode in QL, I'm really glad to tell you that there is promode now in QL, and there's been for a couple of months now. Granted, it's a premium feature and so on but there are some public promode servers (user-spawned), specially CA and CTF, and I've been having a lot of fun there.

Jesus.

I really, really, really want to know an example of that.

(Philosophical logicians do not score as examples of this).

Gotta love HN :)
Re:Ask HN: FizzBuzz for mathematicians ... on Saturday July 14, 2012 @12:00PM (#4244500)
As a mathematician I'll be interested in knowing why you ask that question to people with math degrees.

What information does that give to you as an interviewer?

Re:Ask HN: FizzBuzz for mathematicians ... on Saturday July 14, 2012 @11:57AM (#4244495)
Maybe I'm just a sucker for group theory but that strikes me as too trivial for any mathematician.

In that same vein, I'd suggest proving that a group G is abelian if and only if (ab)^2 = a^2.b^2, where a, b are in G.

It's not as straightforward as your question in the sense that proving it requires a little idea that you have to come up with.

Re:Ask HN: FizzBuzz for mathematicians ... on Saturday July 14, 2012 @11:46AM (#4244454)
In what sense are they to be equivalent?

In any case I'm going to suggest this:

Q. Give two different proofs of the fundamental theorem of algebra.

What do you mean France?

Re:Spend money on experiences, not possessions (2009) on Sunday October 24, 2010 @06:54PM (#1827595)
As I see it, you are buying a possession that gives you multiple experiences. So, by transitivity, you're still spending money on experiences, though not in the big, hell-of-a-cruise-dude kind.
