Re:Arabic and Islamic Themes in Frank Herbert's “Dune” (2004-2017)

Dune has often been interpreted as a story that contains metaphors to nodern politics such as how the spice dependence is similar to our oil dependence and undertones of how authoritarian regimes try to control the fates of peoples. A lot of the events in the books can be drawn as parallels to our history and modern day situations.

Woah i wasnt trying to be racist the Fremen in the books literally go on a genocidal jihad later. In the first book they hint at just how far their fanaticism goes and explicitly includes a part where they hijack a vehicle and crash it into Harkonnen troops. The political undertones would be interesting to see play out in this modern climate.

Sadly theres a high chance because of the presence of Zoe Quinn this will turn into another polarized outrage war. The game industry seems to do nothing but continue to spiral down as anger rises over lootboxes, poorly made games, and appalling behavior from executives.

The motivation for this seems less to do with fighting crime and more to do with certain people simply making money.

No its not I live in Alaska and its clearly Republican decisions here that have led us to the situation we have. Democrats barely had country before losing it in a landslide by Republicans and having the majority of what they proposed opposed stopped by Republicans. Our centrist system has made it impossible to pass anything. Im not saying democrats are flawless but they arent the ones pulling us out of climate agreeements, supporting anti environmental policies, and refusing to aknowledge we have a problem. We need political pressure on Republicans if we are gonna pass anything useful in this country. Its kinda hard to solve an issue when you have an entire side that refuses to even admit its an issue and is actively working against you.

Theyre all horrible problems that we should be confronting just because companies use tackling plastic as a scapegoat doesn't mean its still not something we should take on. As long as we remember its not the only problem and theres much more to fix.

We have villages here sinking into the ocean and roads falling apart from the permafrost melting. Im tired of republicans they helped murder this state and now won't take even the basic steps to fix this problem.
