Nah just the lunatic Adrian Zenz. Feel free to ignore the fact Muslim countries actually visited xinjiang and agreed there was no concentration camps.
Like believe the crap you want, but Uighur language is literally on display in every road sign, every metro station, every shop. Xinjiang has the highest density of mosques in the world. College admissions offer incentives to people of Uighur origin. Ppl can just go to xinjiang and see it for themselves

Hundreds of chinese like myself travel from and to china each year, I'm surprised it's hard for you to imagine regular chinese people can enjoy life in china.

i disagree, there's absolute nothing preventing an ordinary Chinese from taking a exam and become someone that actually has influence over domestic policies. Elections aren't the only ways a legitimate government can be formed.

it's always kinda funny how misinformed people are about china. if you actually think china has the tech to force 1.4 billion people to share the same thoughts then a. china has already won tech war, or b. you are just brainwashed.
Re:Tell HN: China Is Entering Lockdown

that's very different than the story my relatives in china told me. While in quarantine, government sets up dedicated teams of delivery personnel to deliver daily necessities. While the lock down is strict, you are by no means in any danger.

Re:Colors in movies and TV: What happened to them?
on Thursday January 13, 2022 @12:22PM (#29923574)
probably not another fad, it jus stems from color theory, which have been incorporated in film one way or another for a really long time. Even before these digital color grading took place, scenes in movies are carefully planned out, from set to costumes to lighting, so they fit within a certain range in the color space such it's pleasant for viewers.
The orange and teal look is just a very widely used combination that utilizes complementary colors. Even though it's been used a lot i personally still find it quite appealing.

One thing we need to remember is we are seeing the scene from a recorded video.
Our eyes have much better dynamic range so a person would have much better grasp on what the road is like behind the wheels than what they can see from the recorded video.
