Why would Apple launch its own Google? What's the business case of this? Searching on iOS is vastly different than searching on the internet.
Not surprising. Cloudflare is cancer.

Starlette, SQLAlchemy.
Re:What does my engineering manager do all day? on Monday September 27, 2021 @07:23PM (#28677369)
I feel like either there are organizational issues, or this guy micromanages. I report to a VP (Fortune 100) and even he has fewer meetings than this guy.
Re:I Don’t Want to Be Like a Family with My Co-Workers on Saturday August 21, 2021 @08:22AM (#28256392)
It's a well known fact that it's a red flag and you should move on to different direction if they mention they're like a family. Employment is a business relation based on a contract agreement of both parties. That's it.

I was interviewing with a company and was genuinely interested in the position until they mentioned they were like a family. Sent them a not interested email after the meeting.

The result of having a hiring barrier too high.
What's floatplane? Hadn't heard of it. The website doesn't say much.
Re:ShellCheck: A static analysis tool for shell scripts on Thursday March 18, 2021 @08:33PM (#26509096)
SQLAlchemy also does something similar. It points to relevant SQLAlchemy page for more information about the error.
There's also MeetingBar (https://meetingbar.onrender.com). Free and open source. Unlike these guys it doesn't collect data (https://meetingbar.onrender.com/privacy/).
Re:Python's Type Checking Renaissance on Tuesday January 26, 2021 @10:29PM (#25923891)
Not sure if you know what you're talking about. Python has always been a strongly typed language.
Re:A better Kubernetes from the ground up on Sunday November 29, 2020 @02:44PM (#25247475)
> setting up kubernetes is as easy as "# apt install kubelet kubectl".

That's not even remotely accurate unless you run Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, GCP.

> straight out of kubernetes home page: "Kubernetes builds upon 15 years of experience running production workloads at Google".

Sounds like you need to read that sentence carefully. They never say they use Kubernetes.

It seems to me you're a Kubernetes fanboy.

We only use Python but we let Envoy to do the transcoding between gRPC and JSON. No issues.
Re:Tables: Tracking work for teams on Tuesday September 22, 2020 @02:19PM (#24558029)
"At Area 120, we work on 20% projects 100% of the time."

So this is some people's pet project that has no backing from Google. Given Google kills products (whose full time jobs) at any time, I wouldn't be surprised Google kills Tables before I finish this sentence.

As a left handed person that's the first thing I've noticed.
Yeah no... I might be wrong but the last time I checked it cost around $200K to register a TLD. If you pay $200K, you get a TLD.
Sounds like this is a paid article for an agenda. Yang sees where automation is going and as far as I know he's the only candidate talks about automation and coming up with solutions.
Re:Bazel 1.0 on Friday October 18, 2019 @09:36AM (#21291220)
How is it different than Buck or Pants? What makes Bazel better than them? If I already use Buck or Pants what benefit would I get if I move to Bazel?
Re:Google May Have to Get Used to Third Place in the Cloud on Wednesday November 14, 2018 @09:06PM (#18456277)
It only means they don't have many customers.
> When an entire region is down what I have noticed is that all things are fucked globally on aws.

Do you have an example on this?

D.
Is RSS still alive? I'm asking this out of curiosity. I've stopped using RSS long time ago. It has nothing to do with Google Reader. I've stopped using RSS before Google Reader died.

Re:Steve Singh will become Docker’s new CEO on Tuesday May 02, 2017 @08:39PM (#14252107)
Would Google or Amazon be actually interested in buying Docker? Like you said, they'd rather make their own product which would happen to support docker features.
Re:The reference D compiler is now open source on Saturday April 08, 2017 @12:18AM (#14065287)
Unfortune, isn't it? We have D, Swift, Rust, Kotlin. Go looks very sad (and borderline ridiculous) compared to these.
Re:The reference D compiler is now open source on Saturday April 08, 2017 @12:15AM (#14065276)
I agree except the swift part (I don't even code in Swift). It's impossible for it to die because of iOS unless Apple kills it for something else.
Re:Medium releases Memberships on Thursday March 23, 2017 @05:25AM (#13938334)

Re:Docker Enterprise Edition on Friday March 03, 2017 @12:04AM (#13780877)
That's how it always starts. EE gets introduced, Company assures everyone they will have the same features then CE goes down the hill in time. I want to believe you though.
It might've been better if it was multithreaded or something similar. It added 4287583 domains from sorted_unique_cf.txt. That'd take awhile.
Re:Cloudflare data still in Bing caches on Saturday February 25, 2017 @02:24PM (#13733271)
What do you expect them to do? They're essentially parasite of the Internet, has always been.
