Check out YAPD (Yet Another Pixel Dungeon) if you're on Android for a nice variant of the original. I found I like the mods in YAPD better.

This is highly helpful, thank you! Was wanting to build something like this.

Do you have any Wyze cams outdoors, but under cover of a porch? Or are they indoor only?

I have always crossed my eyes since the days of Magic Eye books, and could reliably "see" the image but it was always reversed (seemingly going INTO the page). It wasn't until this article that I realized I could go "slack eyed" as you call it. Now the images pop OUT of the page instead of recede into it. I wish I could rewind 30 years and tell my younger self how to do it.... I would have enjoyed those books so much more.
Re:The journey to Nintendo Switch on Friday September 23, 2022 @11:10PM (#32959420)
From personal observation and experience, I believe the BR game mode got some traction after the first Hunger Games movie released. After that movie released, I remember all sorts of "Hunger Games" Minecraft maps appearing online. I downloaded, played and hosted a handful of these Hunger Games "last man standing" maps for family and friends to play.

After a few weeks of that, the game format grew stale, and I stopped playing HG maps. Then a few years later a whole bunch of BR games hit the scene and all I could think of was how similar they were to the Hunger Games Minecraft maps.

That's just my guess from personal experience.

And to anyone shying away from the word "emulator" - Project 1999 has the blessing of Daybreak to exist. They won't get shut down by a cease and desist.

It feels that way too. I was just hoping it might have been authentic! Either way it is lovely. Thanks for sharing it!

I am having a very hard time telling if this is scripted/ad-libbed or a real person. I hope it's a real person because it's wonderful.

Agreed. I grew up on MOO2, played too much of it, mostly hotseat with a friend.

I tried a few other 4X space games, but none scratched the itch that Stellaris did. It's the only 4X space game I play now. And Paradox keeps adding content!

Sorry not a web dev or programmer, didn't realize that! Well then, that would be cool to enable.

Love this! I tried this on my phone and instinctively tried to turn my phone to make the pieces slide around (after seeing the falling/sliding physics), expecting them to react to the gyro in the phone. Then realized, right, this is a web app!

Great work, fun!

Re:Old video game advertisements on Wednesday September 29, 2021 @04:45PM (#28699669)
The font gore is strong on some of these ads.

"How many different a fonts can we jam into a single ad!?"

Apparently all of them!

Walter! I feel like I'm speaking to a celebrity! My Dad has been playing Empire since I was very young. It was a staple in my house growing up. He still plays it every day. He buys every version he can get his hands on. His love for Empire rubbed off, and my favorite genre of games are war management / 4X games (but SciFi!). Thank you so much for your amazing game. Is there a way I can contact you outside of HN (email)? Would love to ask some Empire questions :)

Right with you on this! Spent so much time playing "T-Attack" (as we called it) I would see the shapes behind my eyes when I would go to sleep. My brother and one friend still dust it off every year to see if we've still "got it". Would love a comeback on this.
I grew up playing Return to Zork and just missed the original Zorks. I couldn't get into them but really wanted to. I love the execution of IF and the stories they weave. What would be a good modern IF to jump into that isn't as punishing as the original Zorks, and not too hard for an IF newbie? Thank you!
Wonderful, was looking for something like this to play around with making GB games!
