LinkedIn cracks down on…LinkedIn?
Re:I think I have LLM burnout on Thursday July 09, 2026 @03:19AM (#48842101)
Did you make the move yourself from software development? I'm considering a move into economics lately but I wouldn't want to leave IT completely i.e. saying bye to a 15y career in software and all the stuff I learnt along the way. Ideally I'd find something in between but I don't know how feasible that is.
Alex Honnold has a series about it on his podcast I'd recommend listening to. (The Greatest Lie)

Just applied as a Ruby developer who's very keen on exploring new languages (other than JS, that is!).

Applied :) Hopefully you're open to Rubyists who are keen to explore other languages/ecosystems!
Re:Samsung confirms its smart fridges will start showing you ads on Thursday September 18, 2025 @12:22PM (#45291563)
I’m just picturing a scenario where the fridge won’t open its door unless you finish watching an AI generated, very low quality, scammy ad. Looking at you, YouTube…

SEEKING WORK

  Location: Andorra
  Remote: Yes (exclusively)
  Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Ruby, Rails, Ember.js, Svelte.js, SQL
  Résumé/CV: https://www.linkedin.com/in/htatche
  Email: [email protected]
Hi!

I'm a full stack software developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and Javascript. I’ve worked across the spectrum: early startups, high-growth scale ups, and most recently, a large corporate product with a huge Rails monolith and even bigger DB. On the FE side I've worked with a range of libs and frameworks, starting with raw JS a long time ago all the way to Svelte.js more recently.

Have a look at my LI and if you think you're building something where I could help, let me know!

PS: I’d be also very interested in exploring the Go ecosystem, ideally finding a company that uses both Ruby&Go or that'd be willing to bring a pragmatic Rubyist into a Go environment. I’ve always picked up tech quickly and I’m excited to expand my skills.

Re:ResumeAI – Job Search App on Monday August 25, 2025 @04:33AM (#45011602)
How would you later deal with having a LinkedIn resume that's different to the one you eventually sent to a company?
What's this guy's name doing on HN?

Maybe you’re just enjoying it rather than spending all your waking time writing code?

It needs to be banned. The environment is orders of magnitude more important than the dollar.
Re:Anonymous Block Forwarding in Ruby on Thursday February 15, 2024 @01:04AM (#39379622)
As a +10years Ruby dev, I don't see anything looking "pretty nice" about this, just yet another a new confusing way of achieving the same result, but differently.
Crazy to think there was a time where they used to represent the complete opposite.

I was going to write a comment, but honestly, I remain speachless.

If so they'd be wrong to think so.

Fun fact: I was incredibly lucky to spot if myself off the Whitsundays (Queensland, Australia)

Why is that?
How's that meaningful? (just interested in your line of thought).

I don't want to be that guy, but here we go: get a pair of AirPods if you haven't yet. I'm in the same situation as you and it - oh no, that guy again - changed my life.

Re:DJI announces the sub-250 gram drone mini 4 pro on Monday September 25, 2023 @04:32PM (#37650199)
I got all excited thinking of the potential of keeping this at the bottom of someone's pack given it's low weight, until I remembered how much I despise people flying drones on top of my head whenever I'm out in the outdoors, looking for a peaceful place to connect with nature.
We all need something to do given we do not have a purpose in this world, except for bearing children maybe. People love to philosophise about the meaning of life and find all ways to be sad. There isn't - keep yourselves busy, anything!
Re:Infantilism as a Norm (2018) on Thursday June 15, 2023 @07:10PM (#36348139)
That's nonsense. Onwards from 35 it becomes exponentially harder for a woman to become pregnant, let alone the complications the child may have.
Yes, twice. I tried starting a career as a guide in the mountains, but after passing my certs realised that it would take me too long (years) to achieve any kind of financial stability, all of that whilst being away from my family a lot of the time. In the end, the pay would still be significantly lower and volatile compared to a dev job.

Also worked as a plumber for nearly a year. You do get the satisfaction of not being glued to the screen every day of the year, and actually seeing the job you did at the end of the day. Again though, you need to put up with some kind of people with whom you may not have the same conversations you're used to, plus the low pay, plus the constant labor. It was freeing to do it for a year, but not any longer.

I'm now in a very boring job which pays pretty well, and my thinking now is how can I become less dependent on my dev salary, so if I burnout again (and I know it will happen), I can take an extended breather again before going back to my desk.

Re:Ask HN: Is back end dev generally easier than front end? on Wednesday November 24, 2021 @04:27AM (#29328302)
I'd say the opposite because of responsibility. A bug in the BE can cost a lot of money and time to your business, not so much (usually) in the FE.

Clearly you aren't affected, else you'd refrain from such blunt capitalist saying.
