Very interesting, would it be (is it?) possible to output the subtitle in a different language? For example English to Icelandic?
Meh, I'm currently on a cross-island road trip with. Family of four in a >10 year old, manual, brown diesel grandtourer/station wagon. Trunk and roof box fully loaded.

Long range fuel consumption at 5.3L/100kms, as usual at summer conditions.

Of course, ymmv : - )

Yes, I'm living in Iceland. Our car market is quite a mix. It's mostly European/Asian commuters but also with plenty of bigger US cars, mostly pickups.

My specific model is a Renault Megane Estate.

Wow, that's exactly what I own. Manual, diesel, brown, station wagon. 10 years old. Bought new though, still going strong. =)

Re:Buying an ebike on Thursday November 25, 2021 @01:58AM (#29338891)
I've been using an E-bike for the last year and a half in my small town. It basically removes all the tediousness of bad weather from biking and ascending.

I don't need to cover great distances everyday for work, groceries or kindergarten runs but it's been breeze on the bike. Yesterday I rode through 5-10 cm of fresh snow, with a child in a bike trailer.

I got a model with large tires and a bit of a front suspension, so it's an all-round bike. I can easily explore trails and nature, most of the time with a child mounted on the bike, while it's still very nice to ride around town.

High quality studded tires make it safer and easier to bike than walk during icy conditions.

Give it a shot, it's really nice.

Ok
I see many submissions from blackhat.com are direct PDF links, but that does not make me feel very comfortable.
Re:Live feed from Iceland erupting volcano [video] on Monday March 22, 2021 @04:37AM (#26538177)
The camera is located on Fagradalsfjall and the eruption is in Geldingadalir. The exact location of the camera I do not know, but its somewhere in the ~1km range.
On amazon it's marked as sold out, at least for me. Is that a fact or is that some market area thing?

If sold out, will it be available again soon?

Edit: refreshed and it's there again!

Interesting, which brand would that be? My old Thinkpad is due for replacement soon.
Re:Facebook's Hypocrisy on Apple's New iOS 14 Privacy Feature on Friday December 18, 2020 @03:31AM (#25465057)
I was just venting to a friend about the massive comeback of popups/banners. "We value your privacy" is a huge part, another one is after the first few pixels of scrolling, "Please support/subscribe to xxx today". So the popups may have a bit more of justified content, but there are plenty of them. And this is while using adblock, pi-hole and other stuff.

Re:Looking back at how Signal works on Wednesday June 10, 2020 @07:49AM (#23476023)
Signal with matrix.org? Not that I know of.
Re:Looking back at how Signal works on Friday June 05, 2020 @07:46PM (#23435282)
I do get the occasional missing messages in the desktop client but what I notice most is that it gets unstable and weird when there is a update available (which I don't get notified about). Desktop and laptop with Ubuntu btw, signal installed via snap if I recall correctly.

Have you checked if yours is up to date?

As a Dropbox user, care to elaborate please?

Re:A story about health care in Iceland on Tuesday June 04, 2019 @08:20AM (#20094245)
I'm Icelandic, male and with no experience of cancer of my own. But with considerable insight into and an bad experience with the healthcare system.

This is not a accurate description of the healthcare system.

It's true that the search for cancer is active here and pretty good. You can find information about the screening system here: https://www.krabb.is/english/

The price she mentioned is not correct. First she updates the price from 3ISK to 300ISK. Nothing costs 3ISK here. 300ISK is barely worth charging. So 3000ISK or ~25USD (currently) seem more likely. Here are the prices, in Icelandic. https://www.krabb.is/leitarstod/leitarstodin/verdskra/

It states that breast scan is 4700ISK (~38USD) for people within the national health system(insured) and 9200ISK (~75USD) for those not within. The breast ultrasound is ~135USD to ~150USd. In anycase, not great sums.

Regarding the referral part, it's true that you do not need a referral for this specific thing.

But to get to speak to a specialist, you do first need to go through a general practitioner or your family doctor to get a referral.

My take on the system, long waits, overworked staff, indifferent government workers, outdated equipment and buildings. This results in (my case) unnecessary mistakes and harm.

What is true, is that you will not be bankrupted going to a doctor or getting fixed up after an accident. A seemingly popular US thing is to point out that it's not free, you pay for it with your taxes. That is obliviously true, and in my view a much more preferred way of operating than the US way.

Anyways, just wanted to put some insight into this. Cheers from Iceland!

Before I saw your edit I thought starting an "Executive spam list", say on GitHub, would be a great idea. I see you started a Japanese one, maybe this could/should be expanded to globally or at least add pages for more countries?

Good luck!

Re:Am I doing open source right? on Friday September 23, 2016 @04:09AM (#12563060)
Sounds like you are doing a good and important job. Personally I would like to get myself into projects, both to help open source and learn more.

What project is this and how does one start helping?
