Then what’s the 30% cut for?

Looks like Claude built it.

Re:Have a Coherent AI Policy on Friday May 15, 2026 @03:04AM (#48145427)
Lol, just cause your name is on it doesn’t mean it’s your code. You didn’t write it. You don’t own the copyrights. You couldn’t sue someone if they stole it. It’s not your code.

Yeah, I get that it means “you’re responsible for it”, but the phrasing irks me.

Re:Why I'm leaving GitHub for Forgejo on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @09:49AM (#48121879)
I can’t wait for federation in Forgejo. With that, there’s honestly no reason not to host your own forge.
Re:Why I'm leaving GitHub for Forgejo on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @09:46AM (#48121849)
I moved all my repos (well, I have two left to move) to https://forge.sciactive.com which is also a self hosted Forgejo instance. It was a really easy process, and I’m really impressed with Forgejo.

AI slop app.
A snarky and insulting joke where the above commenter is the butt of the joke, calling attention to the bad faith response.
All large language model output, unless it is infringing someone else’s copyright, is public domain. Did you read the quotes from the copyright office I linked to?
Re:Ask HN: What are you building that's not AI related? on Thursday April 09, 2026 @11:16AM (#47704874)
I built and maintain an email service that has a no ai policy (https://sciactive.com/2026/01/21/our-stance-on-ai-in-email/):

https://port87.com/

Also, all of my open source projects (https://forge.sciactive.com/sciactive) use my SciActive Human Contribution Policy (https://sciactive.com/human-contribution-policy/), which bans AI contributions.

Re:The AI Great Leap Forward on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @05:18PM (#47696415)
AIs don’t produce well organized code. They duplicate effort, which is tech debt. Maybe one day they will be able to clear their own tech debt. And who knows, maybe they’ll still be heavily subsidized by VC money then.
I have great news for you.

It has even less copyright. A prompt text you write, if sufficiently creative enough, is copyrighted. The output of an AI, no matter how “creative”, is always pubic domain.

Re:r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:31AM (#47611144)
You should try Lemmy. It feels a lot like Reddit did in like 2012. Small, but a great community.
Re:r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:28AM (#47611128)
And the difference is that humans will learn not to make that mistake anymore.
Re:r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:26AM (#47611112)
It very much is. It’s more like telling an intern what to do and then reviewing their code. Anyone can do it, and it results in (mostly) slop.
Re:r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:24AM (#47611099)
AI will be writing the code for shit-slop apps and libraries. The good ones will be written by humans.
Re:r/programming bans all discussion of LLM programming on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:17AM (#47611033)
Good for them. Keep your projects human made by adopting a good policy. I use this one:

Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @07:38PM (#47549808)
I mean, look at the source. This is from an AI company.
Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @07:31PM (#47549749)
That is _definitely_ copyright infringement.
Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @07:30PM (#47549738)
You also really need to review its logic too, because it has a tendency to lack the full context of the code it’s working on, and make very silly logic mistakes.
Re:Dobase – Your workspace, your server on Friday March 27, 2026 @04:29PM (#47547831)
That’s all well and good, but you can’t enforce a license on it. Code written by an AI is in the public domain. So the license you’re using is essentially meaningless, and anyone can do anything they want with the code.
Re:Dobase – Your workspace, your server on Friday March 27, 2026 @04:27PM (#47547800)
Don’t worry. The license is unenforceable, since the code is written by AI. It’s in the public domain.
Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @04:17PM (#47547682)
I rereleased this as public domain, since it’s all AI generated, so it is public domain:

Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @12:21PM (#47544738)
That fix is just the same code from earlier in that function pasted in again after another asynchronous procedure.

I feel like you’re probably just a worse engineer than you think you are if you needed Claude for this.

Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @12:13PM (#47544639)
I don’t know where you got “likely correct” from. Likely working? Sure. Likely correct? Absolutely not.

LLMs will only ever be as good as an average programmer, and average programmers usually get stuff wrong.

Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Friday March 27, 2026 @12:05PM (#47544540)
Don’t forget that by using an AI, they don’t actually own the code. That’s public domain code now, since it can’t be protected by copyright.
Re:Dobase – Your workspace, your server on Thursday March 26, 2026 @09:42PM (#47538148)
The commit log is filled with AI generated commits. I wouldn’t trust that on my server.
Re:Ask HN: Has anyone else been unemployed for over two years? on Friday September 19, 2025 @08:43PM (#45308610)
I left my job in 2021 to start a business. I just launched it, but I still don’t have a steady income. I’m living with my wife, and still have enough to get by for a couple more years, but I’m really hoping my business can start making money.
Re:Ask HN: Is there room for a new email hosting service? on Saturday July 27, 2024 @12:03PM (#41087392)
It still all just goes to your inbox. It won't put it in a label for you, you can't control whether you get push notifications per address, and it won't autorespond with a challenge on ones meant for real people.
Because senders don't always use the same domain, and this way lets you block the entire address. If a service leaks your email address, you can just block that email address.
