Sad to hear that a country is anti-science.

As Richard Dawkins recently clarified, "As a biologist, there are 2 sexes. And that's all there is to it." It's binary and there is no exception. People that claim otherwise are confused.

A censor convinced you that you were wrong. You weren't necessarily wrong at all. You may have been correct the first time. And what is correct when it comes to art? Who is this person to tell you, the artist, that your art is wrong?

Buck Angel and other trans people often disagree completely with the conclusions of these censors, who motivated by exerting power over others. Why listen to them over other trans people? Don't give censors that power over you and your work. You're the artist. Don't let others tell you your art is "wrong". It's not. Stand up for yourself and your art.

> In modern times, what makes authoritarian rule difficult and unstable is the western nations' neo-colonial ruling class (most on HN) who are hell bent on exporting their superior democratic ways.

The attempted colonization of the Spanish language by Westerners who are offended by its gendered terminology is a real-world illustration of this.

LatinX.

There's a Harvard lecture by Jordan Peterson on Nazi Germany where this subject is discussed. According to statistics, you would have been a Nazi if you had been a German citizen at the time.

Everyone wants to believe they would have been a dissenter, but the likelihood is low. Most people follow the crowd, especially if there are repercussions for doing otherwise. It's a terrible reality, which is why the ability to dissent must be protected.

From Coinbase's post:

For anyone who understands how NFTs and blockchains work, this is clearly not possible. Apple’s proprietary In-App Purchase system does not support crypto so we couldn’t comply even if we tried.

This is akin to Apple trying to take a cut of fees for every email that gets sent over open Internet protocols.

Re:Google Is Done on Thursday December 01, 2022 @02:31PM (#33821447)
That's a category error. Developmental sex disorders (DSDs) are variations of anatomy, not variations of sex.

The existence of intersex people does not change the fact that sex is binary. Sex is defined by gametes.

Intermediate gametes do not exist.

Re:Google Is Done on Thursday December 01, 2022 @02:13PM (#33821152)
> existence of various kinds of intersex genotypes, which may produce no gametes, or both gametes

That's still binary. Both gametes. There is no 3rd gamete or intermediate gamete. That some people produce neither or even both doesn't convert it into a spectrum.

Re:Google Is Done on Thursday December 01, 2022 @01:47PM (#33820716)
It's even wrong on basic biology and in a concerning way.

Here's an example from another ChatGPT thread.

> Ok, so human sex is a bimodal continuous distribution, correct?

> No, human sex is not a bimodal continuous distribution. As I mentioned earlier, human sex exists on a spectrum, rather than being divided into just two categories. While it is true that most people have sex traits that are predominantly male or female, this does not mean that the distribution of these traits is bimodal. Instead, the distribution of human sex traits is better described as being continuous and varied, with individuals falling at different points along the spectrum depending on the combination of biological and environmental factors that determine their sex. The term "bimodal" does not accurately describe the distribution of human sex traits, as it implies that there are only two possible categories, which is not the case.

This suggests it's been indoctrinated with gender ideology which makes the faith based claim that sex is a spectrum. Biology is not confused about this. Males produce gametes (sperm) and females produce large gametes (ova). There are no intermediate gametes, which is why there is no spectrum of sex. Biological sex in humans is a binary system.

Re:You're in a Cult on Monday November 21, 2022 @12:01PM (#33694853)
Another kind of cult is one that is decentralized. It's harder to recognize because there isn't a single leader and it's like a secular religion. There's no "God", but there is a dogma. Like many high control groups it presents itself as caring and nice and inclusive. But if you don't conform, then you're fucking evil and we'll destroy you socially and financially.

> 1. The leader is the ultimate authority

No leader because it's decentralized.

> 2. The group suppresses skepticism

Check. People are afraid to say what they think for fear of the group. Dissent is not tolerated.

> 3. The group delegitimizes former members

Check. They attack heretics relentlessly. Members are encouraged to disconnect from their parents, family, friends if they don't get on board.

> 4. The group is paranoid about the outside world

Check. They embed themselves in echo chambers and regulate speech. They use the language of safetyism to justify it. "This isn't safe". Words are violence. Disagreement is anti-*

> 5. The group relies on shame cycles

Check. They wield shame at scale on social media. Dissenters are ostracized and sometimes their employer is targeted. When that happens employers usually submit and quickly fire the dissenter to remove the heat.

> 6. The leader is above the law

Doesn't apply.

> 7. The group uses “thought reform” methods

Check. "Educate yourself", "Read the room", "If you're not with us, you're against us". They gaslight. They deny reality. They accuse others of what they are doing.

> 8. The group is elitist

Check. They are convinced they are on the right side of history. If you don't agree, you are evil and immoral. They are good and moral.

> 9. There is no financial transparency

Doesn't apply since it's a decentralized ideology.

> 10. The group performs secret rites

They have rituals but are performed in the open. One of them includes everyone stating their identification and characteristics like skin color(!). It's a ritual and loyalty test with the purpose to communicate everyone's position in the intersectional hierarchy.

Re:The erasure of women from online pregnancy literature on Saturday November 19, 2022 @06:02PM (#33675845)
It's not even accommodation to small minorities, it's accommodation to an ideology. Activists push this conflation to make it appear about minorities and not their ideology. They present it as though minorities all have the same opinion and then weaponize your compassion to get compliance.

"Oh, this is what minorities want. Ok, I'm a good person, I want to respect their wishes."

What you may not realize is that many gay and trans people strongly disagree with gender ideology and do not want this.

Indeed, they don't all have the same opinion!

The loud, aggressive, too online activists do not speak for everyone.

Re:The erasure of women from online pregnancy literature on Saturday November 19, 2022 @04:33PM (#33674996)
This is a fundamental misunderstanding about the nature of biological sex, which is connected to the distinct type of gametes (sex cells) that an organism produces. As a broad concept, males are the sex that produce small gametes (sperm) and females produce large gametes (ova). There are no intermediate gametes, which is why there is no spectrum of sex. Biological sex in humans is a binary system.
Re:The erasure of women from online pregnancy literature on Saturday November 19, 2022 @04:23PM (#33674870)
Biology is crystal clear on this. There are 2 sexes, one with small mobile gametes and the other with large, immobile ones. It's binary.

34% of white Americans who applied to colleges or universities admit to lying about being a racial minority on their application

48% of people who lied claimed to be Native American

Projections are not reality. They are projections that are imperfect and not that precise.

As you can see, expected warming is already off by 50% in just the past 5 years. That was not projected.

"scientists believe that warming this century will most likely fall between two or three degrees. (A United Nations report released this week ahead of the COP27 climate conference in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, confirmed that range.) A little lower is possible, with much more concerted action; a little higher, too, with slower action and bad climate luck. Those numbers may sound abstract, but what they suggest is this: Thanks to astonishing declines in the price of renewables, a truly global political mobilization, a clearer picture of the energy future and serious policy focus from world leaders, we have cut expected warming almost in half in just five years."

The pride flag is being gradually erased. It's a too on the nose depiction of how LGBs are being pushed out of their own movement.
It's obvious, but apparently people don't want to believe it. This happens in the US too.

34% of white Americans who applied to colleges or universities admit to lying about being a racial minority on their application

Re:Kanye West is buying Parler on Monday October 17, 2022 @11:51AM (#33235281)
It's more of a story of a famous artist who thinks for himself and has been marginalized for years as a result.

Every time he says something that deviates from the accepted narrative, he is attacked and dismissed as "crazy", "insane", "sick". Many non-normative geniuses throughout history have been treated in this manner.

Before anyone strawmans this, he does occasionally say things that should be condemned, particularly over the past week. Understandably people are focused on those remarks, but two things can be true at the same time.

1. He has been systematically marginalized and labeled as "crazy" every time he presents an alternative viewpoint. This has been going on for years.

2. He overcorrects when placed in a box. The more people try to control him, the more he tries to break out of that box by being purposefully provocative.

> They're mostly people with low educational attainment who are more susceptible to misinformation

I can see why you think that, but it's actually the reverse. People with a high level of education are more susceptible to misinformation because they have been conditioned to focus on credentials. They take the information on its face as long as the individual speaking has the proper title. This allows real misinformation and disinformation to spread rapidly and without pushback.

People outside of this have a much more skeptical posture and can see the narrative for what it is.

It is interesting how stimulus checks and PPP aren't treated the same way. However, debt forgiveness is not the same. The government did not compel students into debt. They did compel businesses to close and people to lose their income.
People are so used to watching billions of dollars go missing or wasted that it has become background noise.
