Re:Astra can read and write weights to improve Qwen on Monday November 02, 2026 @04:05PM (#50343737)
Maybe thats gonna be the way to make LLMs self improve better?

Similar to implicit learning in humans when the subconscious creates new heuristics based on observations, one LLM could adjust the weights of another to tune it to the environment

Re:Postgres 19 is late, and it's AI's fault on Sunday November 01, 2026 @08:43PM (#50332052)
If the entire project is developed with AI it can add features effectively but for large old codebases it becomes an issue
I am not very against data centers, Im just trying to understand why people talk about water consumption more.
Water is something to protest against now because it's very visible. There is a daily water consumption.

The climate impact, like with cars or the oil industry is a boring future issue.

People have always been bad at critical thinking, it's a high level cognitive skill that requires practice.

Now that it can be outsourced,we will slowly lose this ability that we barely had.

Re:Malware uses LLMs to rank victims by how much they're worth on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:51PM (#50318312)
Generally we don't hear much about attacks in Java like that. But they probably exist but python and javascript are targeted mainly because everyone uses them. They cover a lot of ground.
Re:Malware uses LLMs to rank victims by how much they're worth on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:49PM (#50318297)
I am now developing with claude code on mobile and sandboxes and a few remote VPS I rent.

No more laptops, just a dedicated android device.

I developed a devops/admin tool and then its claude code + github

Re:Northflank Breached on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:42PM (#50318249)
They use open router.

I've seen attackers install claude code on compromised servers

Re:Northflank Breached on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:41PM (#50318235)
Yup, it's quite fascinating to watch.
Re:The $6.3B Binance Hack Was Pulled Off in Just 20 Minutes on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:35PM (#50318174)
Yeah, why is there $6bn in hot wallets in the first place ..

Makes me think traditional banks have solved this from the start. You can't steal the backing of an unbacked currency.

Yeah, 9 shares and then 10k people click
Re:AI Isn't Replacing SREs. It's Deskilling Them on Friday October 30, 2026 @02:37PM (#50308302)
I already sucked at incident handling before, it was more of a panic attack mixed with the fear of getting fires. So Agents have a good place there.
Re:GitHub Incident with Actions, Pages, and Webhooks on Friday October 30, 2026 @02:36PM (#50308287)
It's hard coded probably.
Yeah, we need this more in the spotlight. Lots of hacks and exploits lately. If you are a dev using this, take care!
Re:Anthropic hacked to deliver remote access trojan on Friday October 30, 2026 @09:00AM (#50303262)
Better be safe and check your dev environment if you use it.
Re:Proton goes all in on using AI on Thursday October 29, 2026 @07:50PM (#50297910)
Companies need somebody to yell at when hackers get in.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Thursday October 29, 2026 @07:22PM (#50297672)
Stablecoins are fiat on-chain and they are legal so they need to have the freezing mechanism in the smart contract otherwise they could go to jail.

So crypto + legal company means not really following bitcoin ideology anymore

Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Thursday October 29, 2026 @06:12PM (#50296922)
I don't think so. Both happened the same time but unrelated. Just a good haul for hackers end of the year.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Thursday October 29, 2026 @06:11PM (#50296906)
I think that's a different hack. Polymarket mostly.
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance on Thursday October 29, 2026 @06:09PM (#50296883)
Happy Halloween to the hackers.

I bet they are celebrating.

Congratulations. Nice haul.

Re:NetBSD adds a new beginner-friendly text editor called atto on Thursday October 29, 2026 @02:13PM (#50293483)
How do you exit atto? Gotta make it hard:)
I agree. If the use-case requires no GC then Rust or Zig or C++ is a better fit.

I don't see much point in choosing a language just to bypass it's features.

Re:Are stochastic parrots alive? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:02PM (#50292333)
Humans are great at copying each other via implicit mechanism and we have a mirror neuron system that predictively mirrors other humans internal processes.

We are stochastic parrots. Most humans don't ever create anything unique and just mirror.

Re:Are stochastic parrots alive? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:59PM (#50292288)
To be alive they need autonomy to self-replicate.

When we create an AI that controls it's own manufacturing and can self-replicate then we can talk about inorganic life.

Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:55PM (#50292199)
Its exactly what it is, a tool. Use it correctly it works fine but if you are not careful you can shoot yourself in the foot.
Anthropic is at fault here. We should be able to configure these. The LLM has no right to know my email address, only their internal system needs it.
Re:AlpineBSD on Thursday October 29, 2026 @07:48AM (#50287522)
AI, since it "taints" code according to their website.
I agree with the points, maybe in my example I would not have money to hire people and used to write code myself, so I replaced myself with claude and not an employee. So the human to replace was myself and interaction was not lost as I still talk to myself :p
These are the use-cases of AI that I don't like that much.
Its gonna turn into an anti-vaxxer thing when they realize vaccines could be created with generative AI. It will be in the pipeline
