Re:How to Exist on Saturday August 01, 2026 @03:34PM (#49137646)
I used to read this blog over a decade ago and I'm very surprised to see it's still going.
Re:The Unbearable Cheapness of Open Weight Models on Thursday June 25, 2026 @05:59AM (#48671258)
Uh? Recently and frequently opened documents always show up on the first screen as soon as I open the app or website.
Re:India's surprise baby bust is a warning to the world on Friday June 05, 2026 @04:47PM (#48418046)
What are these European student debts you speak of, outside of the UK (which emphatically does not want to be considered part of Europe)?
Yet, my 10+ years old pebble 2 HR lasts a week, and the new pebble time 2 claims up to a month.
Re:Pebble Production: February Update on Thursday February 19, 2026 @01:31PM (#47077230)
My pebble 2 has a heart rate sensor, and the battery still lasts for a week after almost a decade of daily use.
Re:Clawdbot - open source personal AI assistant on Monday January 26, 2026 @05:44AM (#46764054)
Waitaminute, clawdbot has access to facebook? how since there is no API? it puppeteers the browser and somehow facebook antibot algorithms do not instaban it?
Re:Litestream VFS on Thursday December 11, 2025 @03:52PM (#46236976)
Is this VFS for read-only databases? Or can I query a database that has a single litestream writer somewhere continously making updates and backing them up to S3?
I don't read them, but I listen to them on my commute (with a saas I made).
Re:Kroger acknowledges that its bet on robotics went too far on Tuesday December 09, 2025 @06:06AM (#46203569)
Do you really need a human to ask whether you want fries with that?
When did Snapchat move out of GCP?
Re:Why China is giving away its tech for free on Wednesday June 18, 2025 @10:16AM (#44310108)
Didn't know there was a queue, how does it work? Readers upload the paywalled article? Does that mean uploaders can alter the version of the article we end up seeing?
Re:Cursor 1.0 on Thursday June 05, 2025 @04:16AM (#44189537)
I uninstalled Cursor months ago because of that and am always surprised nobody else brings that up, ever.
Re:Litestream: Revamped on Tuesday May 20, 2025 @06:37PM (#44046627)
If you wanted to use litestream to replicate many databases (ideally, one or more per user), which is one of the use cases described here (and elsewhere), how do you tell litestream to add new databases dynamically? The configuration file is static and I haven't found an API to tell it to track a new db at runtime.
Re:Wise refuses to let us access our $60k AUD on Wednesday May 14, 2025 @03:28AM (#43981840)
Are you confusing Wise with Stripe, where he used to work?
Is there something like OpenRouter, but for text-to-speech models?
Does not look like a bit moat, is that different from the reusable prompt files feature?

https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/copilot/copilot-customiza...

I have tried (stopped a couple months ago). The Python extensions broke all the time while they manually patched around the latest MS release a few days later. Syntax highlighting glitched every other day requiring a full reload. Remote dev via SSH or tunnels also randomly stopped working. Liveshare... Essentially they do not own the platform their core product is built on.

Maybe it's fine if you only do local development in other languages (Javascript?), but I completely swore it off.

Re:.localhost Domains on Thursday April 10, 2025 @12:10PM (#43645339)
I added a fake .com record in my internal DNS that resolves to my development server. All development clients within that network have an mkcert-generated CA installed.

Not so different from you, but without even registering the vanity domain. Why is this such a bad idea?

Re:Two new PebbleOS watches on Wednesday March 19, 2025 @06:36AM (#43410243)
That is all I needed to know, preordered :D
Re:Delta Chat – Email Based PGP Encrypted Chat on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @07:13AM (#43265560)
Would love to know if someone actually runs it reliably. Especially with a Workspace email address.
Re:We're bringing Pebble back on Tuesday January 28, 2025 @07:02AM (#42851393)
Guys, I am still running my P2HR every day.

I, like most of us I believe (and we are dozens :), am using it with GadgetBridge.

I wrote my own watchface for it, in C. Also wrote some automation that periodically exports and backs up my data off GadgetBridge.

I would like to keep using GB, but my aging P2 might die any time now (already had to replace the side buttons, the plastic disintegrated after a few years) and I have been looking for a replacement watch that allows exporting my sleep data into GB.

NONE of the hardware currently supported by the app appears to make sleep data available in the way Pebble did?!

Please make new Pebbles, and keep them compatible with GadgetBridge.

Re:Edge TTS on Thursday January 23, 2025 @05:03AM (#42802519)
I wish Kokoro supported SSML... Is there a way to explicitly emphasize parts of the text?
Re:TikTok set to be banned in the US after losing appeal on Friday December 06, 2024 @09:02PM (#42346631)
What I find funny is that the first country that banned TikTok, was China! (Yes, you can't access it from there)
Similar tool I like and used to self-host for personal use: https://screego.net/#/
Re:Fly.io outage (restoration in progress) on Tuesday November 26, 2024 @05:10AM (#42244284)
One such microVM per month used to be within the free monthly allowance, is that not the case anymore?
Re:Our Longest Nerve Orchestrates the Mind-Body Connection on Monday September 02, 2024 @07:26AM (#41424451)
I know med students get to attend cadaver vivisections, is this accessible to others as well? (of course this may depend on jurisdiction and university practice, just asking in general in case anyone has experience).
Re:Dokku: My favorite personal serverless platform on Monday August 26, 2024 @01:45PM (#41359703)
Interesting, how is compose meant to be used then? Just for building images and running local dev environments?
Re:Dokku: My favorite personal serverless platform on Monday August 26, 2024 @01:25PM (#41359468)
I have gitlab-runner on my VPS, all it does is `docker compose up`, that already includes a traefik setup with LE certificates.

Zero-downtime does sound interesting though, and is probably better than `traefik.http.middlewares.test-retry.retry`.

Re:Dokku: My favorite personal serverless platform on Monday August 26, 2024 @11:44AM (#41358309)
Can I not do all of these things with docker-compose already?
Re:If English was written like Chinese (1999) on Tuesday June 04, 2024 @06:11AM (#40572647)
Any usable alternatives to Translate?
