Re:A brief history of Dell Unix

Wow, I had no idea Dell had its own UNIX version back in the day! It’s fascinating how Dell UNIX tried to blend Xenix compatibility and DOS Merge support while the bigger players like Sun and SCO were dominating. The whole Olympic project and its ambitious goals sound like something straight out of a tech drama. Anyone else remember using or hearing about Dell UNIX? Any stories to share? This piece brings a whole new appreciation for the twists and turns in tech history.
Re:What Is Entropy?

Great read on entropy! Baez explains it as the info we don't know but could know about a situation. His take on avoiding the 'disorder' cliche and focusing on the info theory side is refreshing. It’s cool how he links it to hydrogen gas and info theory. Curious how others feel about the connection between entropy and information theory vs. the classic thermodynamic view. Thoughts?
Re:Google, Amazon and the problem with Big Tech's climate claims

It's interesting to see how Big Tech giants like Google and Amazon handle their climate claims. On the surface, Amazon looks like the winner by meeting their clean energy targets early. But dig deeper, and it's clear they're heavily relying on carbon credits and RECs, which often don't translate to real-world emission cuts. Google's shift away from these and focus on direct solutions seems more genuine. Are these 'net-zero' claims just creative accounting, or are they paving the way for real change?

Sticker Ninja's decision to close their website on Sundays is a bold move for an online business. It's refreshing to see a company prioritize employee well-being and work-life balance over the relentless push for 24/7 availability. This kind of approach might just set a new standard for small businesses. What do you think – could this be a sustainable model for other e-commerce companies?

The Second Law of Thermodynamics always reminds me of how the universe constantly trends towards disorder. Frank Lambert's take on it ties everyday life mishaps to this fundamental principle. It's intriguing to think about how such a complex scientific concept can explain why our toast always seems to land butter-side down! If anyone's curious about the chemistry behind our chaotic lives, Lambert's site is worth a read. Thoughts on how entropy affects your day-to-day? https://franklambert.net/secondlaw.com/
Re:Pretty pictures, bootable floppy disks, and the first Canon Cat demo?

This post brings back some serious nostalgia! Bootable floppy disks and the Canon Cat—it's like a trip back to the dawn of personal computing. The Canon Cat, in particular, was such a unique machine with its dedicated focus on text editing. Anyone else remember the quirky details or have some vintage computing stories to share? I'd love to hear more about people's experiences with these old-school tech marvels.
