Re:Ask HN: How's the job hunt going? (For those laid off) on Saturday November 26, 2022 @03:37PM (#33756460)
Looking to quit w/o anything lined up. Rejected a few offers before the shit hit the fan. Starting to hate the field and need some time to think.

Re:Getting Out of a Rut on Saturday October 22, 2022 @10:31PM (#33304042)
It’s just life. The ups and downs. There is nothing wrong with you. You are aware of the situation (better than most people) so you just need to change one thing at a time. Literally doing something that you were putting off for 10 minutes is a start. —— Disclaimer: Depression is real and multifaceted. Some seek medical help. Some get over it on their own.

Bonuses tied to ARR when most people do not directly impact revenue.

Different problems at different altitudes.

Re:The Key to Successful Innovation? Progress over Product on Thursday August 11, 2022 @07:02PM (#32432900)

Re:How to present to executives (2021) on Thursday August 11, 2022 @05:55AM (#32423539)
Great advice but I disagree that “most executives aren’t awful”. Leadership is a hard and opaque role. More often than not the wrong people are promoted to management. Poor leadership is the norm, not the exception.
Re:Work from home and the office real estate apocalypse on Sunday June 05, 2022 @06:45AM (#31629757)
Does anyone really know the impact on productivity? I work for a remote-first company (never had an office) and things move so slow.
Re:Ask HN: How are you preparing for the recession? on Friday May 20, 2022 @01:10AM (#31443588)
Nothing. I can’t predict shit and neither can you.
Yo. It’s chill. Moved up here from Southern California. I thought people were grinding but they are mostly chilling w/ their cushy office job. Pockets of innovation and fun but otherwise a lot of people working on the same thing.

Yes. Exactly.
Re:Job hunting while day-jobbing (2021) on Wednesday April 13, 2022 @09:34PM (#31022446)
How does telling your boss you are interviewing help? What does each party gain? The “very worst you’ve done” is not put someone on a long term project. That is detrimental to your direct report’s career if they decide to stay. No one wins.
