could still be a mix of genes. agree with your last sentence.
you're missing scarcity and the idea of it at a store of value longer term. i.e. that it won't be devalued by additional printing.
Re:Stock Futures Were Halted Sunday Night After 5% Drop on Sunday March 08, 2020 @11:09PM (#22522638)
this is more than just corona. oil prices have dropped 30% which generally should mean all asset/price levels should come down, at least if the drop is prolonged.
It’s also odd that the exchange would step into mediate. The miner is effectively playing by the rules i.e. if you have 51% you can do what you want.
Re:The Wealthy Are Hoarding $10B of Bitcoin in Bunkers on Wednesday May 09, 2018 @11:20AM (#17030498)
i think you're arguing semantics. if most people dont view the forked chain as valid and prefer the original, then a new bitcoin isn't created per se.

i think the value is also the ability to transfer value relatively quickly without having to sit at a bank for 30 minutes to do so.

If you glance at their whitepaper, stability analysis, or old FAQs they had up, it’s clear they’re thoughtful. Therefore, comments like these underestimate the founders:

“Please. Figure out what a government bond is, first. Then we can have a little chat about scalability.”

"electric boogalo"

"But you need to study politics, economics and history to learn things like this, which I understand are not computer science and are therefore unpopular"

Preston takes an insulting tone towards the basis team. Fine to critique, but assumes the visionaries of this project are uneducated, or haven't given things proper thought. I assure you they are thoughtful...

funny thing is that apple used to have good offline music support that it has since butchered.

a lot of people think governments are doing these hacks. perhaps they haven't cashed out yet?
you could get around #1 by using localbitcoins.com, or other private exchange. Though i'm sure the feds are all over it, and I generally view such transactions as a honeypot
then why not be transparent?
cool. would love to see NEO (and related tokens), Stellar, ZEC,BCH, EOS (when they transition to their own chain), Dash, ADA, Monero, and Ripple for the XRP fan bois.

Please do keep me posted in regard to investment opps. Thanks.

I'm a blockchain investor at [redacted] if you want to talk more. Initial thoughts:

-A solution in your space is badly needed. Fund administrators really need an option that is better than cointracking.info and coinigy. A lot of these folks are looking at partnering with Libra here in the near future.

-your offering as is, is too limited. anyone investing seriously in the space owns a lot more than than the 4 coins available in your wallet option.

-Most could probably get by with the exchanges you have listed so that's a a good thing

I know you're just getting started, so I'm excited to see how your offering progresses. Good luck, and happy to talk more offline. Would also be interested in investing. Thanks.

How did you come up with the calculations for moving prices on GDAX? I’m curious about how to do that math. Thanks.

the cc company still has reserves, and that ties back to the central bank.
Re:CFTC and SEC Testimony on Cryptocurrencies [pdf] on Monday February 05, 2018 @10:01PM (#16314131)
I don't understand why folks are making such a big deal about Tether. If it is indeed a scam, wouldn't that imply a $2-$3 billion scam at most? What am I missing? As of this writing, the entire crypto market cap is at a recent low of $300 billion. Tether would be around 1% of the total market.
Re:Bitfinex fails to perform promised audits on Sunday January 28, 2018 @05:51AM (#16250757)
Depends on your perspective. Prices dropped significantly because people started to prefer dollars to some extent. Several of the large exchanges that existed back then are still around, however, and others were acquired. Examples of those still around: Coinbase, Bitstamp, Bitfinex, Kraken. Sure I'm missing others.

I mention the above only to say it didn't feel like a true bank run to me at the time. People were still able to get in and out, but prices were certainly depressed. And several of the exchanges survived.
