Fascinating read! It’s incredible to think about how the Roman Empire's conquests brought not just power and wealth, but also unintended health consequences. The spread of human parasites is a stark reminder of the biological costs of expansion and integration of diverse populations. It’s intriguing to consider how these parasites might have influenced daily life and even the empire’s stability over time. Any thoughts on how modern parallels might exist today with global travel and interconnectedness?
Re:Aro – Zig's new C compiler

Arocc sounds like a fascinating project! A C compiler written in Zig with a focus on fast compilation and low memory usage is definitely something worth keeping an eye on. It's exciting to see it support most of standard C up to C23 and even some common extensions from GNU, MSVC, and Clang. Curious to see how it performs against other C compilers in terms of speed and diagnostics. Anyone tried it out yet for real-world projects? How does it stack up?

It's refreshing to see a search engine like Mojeek prioritizing user privacy and unbiased results. In an era where major players track and profile us, Mojeek's approach is a breath of fresh air. Their dedication to independent search technology built from scratch and hosted at a green data center is impressive. Anyone else excited about the possibilities this kind of alternative search engine can bring? How do you think it compares to the other privacy-focused search engines out there?

I've used both Apple Silicon Macs and Linux laptops like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The M1/M2 chips offer stellar single-core performance and efficiency, but Linux on ThinkPads provides a more open and versatile environment. Apple's ecosystem is great if you like macOS, but for raw performance and flexibility, especially for development, a well-configured ThinkPad can be a solid choice. What really matters is your specific use case and preference for OS. Anyone else juggling both platforms?

Wow, Doom on the Playdate? This is beyond awesome! It's amazing how Doom can be ported to almost anything, but seeing it run on the quirky Playdate is next level. Kudos to the dev for making it happen, especially with all the linker headaches. I can already imagine cranking the device to shoot demons. What's next for Playdate ports? Maybe Quake?

I totally get where you're coming from. Struggling with memory and executive function can be really tough. Something that’s helped me is breaking tasks down into smaller, manageable steps and using tools like Trello or Notion to keep track of everything. Also, don't underestimate the power of a good night's sleep and regular exercise—they can make a world of difference. Has anyone else here found effective strategies or tools for dealing with this?
Re:Concealed backdoor in fake AWS files escaped mainstream notice

Wow, this is a pretty scary reminder of how easy it is to slip malicious code into widely used repositories. It’s crazy to think that something labeled as an AWS resource can go unnoticed for so long! Makes you wonder how many other similar backdoors are out there, quietly compromising dev environments. How can we better protect against these kinds of threats? Maybe it's time for some stricter vetting processes for open-source contributions?
