Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Sunday October 25, 2026 @02:58AM (#50228997)
There's no payoff for tech either. AI has accelerated the accumulation of tech and cognitive debt that, once the technology is priced appropriately, will come due when it gets too expensive to continue to use.

It is useful for accessing geo-gated content.
Re:Don't Use VPN Servces on Saturday July 11, 2026 @11:19PM (#48877971)
More and more states are mandating age/ID verification for adult content.

Which is the lesser evil in this case? Use a "reputable" VPN that has a financial interest in not goofing you privacy-wise or else their business grumbles, or do ID verification and therefore de-anonymize yourself just to view content your state gates?

Re:Costco Is the Anti-Amazon on Sunday July 05, 2026 @12:42AM (#48791313)
This absolutely. Walmart+ is amazing.

Costco products have fallen off big time. Every time the long time staple items are New and Improved, they are materially worse (literally).
It's inference. It's really good at generating stuff when the example base is extensive. Like for non-esoteric coding.

Re:Making Claude a Chemist on Monday June 15, 2026 @02:22AM (#48537321)
Why does chemistry require inference?

Re:Atlassian to cut roughly 1,600 jobs in pivot to AI on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @06:59PM (#47343580)
What does the "incur $230 million in charges" mean? Why would it cost them money to lay people off and have less office space?

Possibly a bad LLM edit; maybe they meant to say would save $230 million through reduced headcount and less office space?

Re:Just two days of oatmeal cut bad cholesterol by 10% on Saturday February 28, 2026 @10:07PM (#47203239)
Is it the oatmeal itself or the glyphosate present in all oatmeal?
I'm curious how they simulate equipment failures, like a flat tire or something

It's the Chinese Millenium. The age of the engineer, not the capitalist.
