Re:Were Software Engineers blue-collar workers all along? on Thursday October 15, 2026 @10:21AM (#50104096)
That's a great example of magnitude I hadn't heard before.
Re:Passkeys Are Not a Trap on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @01:28PM (#50091454)
The arguments of they never "usually" do this, or "the guidance says" are meaningless. Whatever can be used for control, will be.
It's technically not corruption because it's legal!
"Clair Obscur: Expedition 33" is a French game, (the user's name is expedition 32) and this sounds like something the French would love, so I'm thinking France, but I'm only hypothesizing.
Re:Why can't India's government build a decent website? on Sunday June 28, 2026 @09:20PM (#48713653)
The scrolling text on the visa site is wild... Haven't seen that in forever.
Re:My Mathematical Regression on Tuesday June 23, 2026 @07:50PM (#48653278)
A lot of life is "use it or lose it," due to limited resources I imagine.
Opt-out is not consent... This crazy behavior.
Which seems like a good reason not to hand out a bunch of nuclear material...
I still don't trust failing startups to handle radioactive waste properly.
Trusting startups to dispose of it properly if they go bankrupt seems like an absolute disaster waiting to happen. Netflix has/had an interesting series "radioactive emergency" based on real events that seems to be a fairly plausible outcome. The "Goiânia accident in Brazil occurred on September 13, 1987".
One textbook I read has a line about how you shouldn't work in security if you want to make friends, and I was shocked and impressed by its honesty.
Re:We Rewrote JSONata with AI in a Day, Saved $500K/Year on Saturday March 28, 2026 @09:32AM (#47554437)
Yeah, apparently the original library has nearly 4,000 tests. This would have been impossible without those. This speaks to the power of testing. The lack of discussion here also shows how under-valued it is.
Re:Our Commitment to Windows Quality on Saturday March 21, 2026 @11:26AM (#47467886)
> We are introducing the ability to reposition it to the top or sides of your screen...

Using the word introducing is so disingenuous to me considering how long that was a capability.

Re:Ask HN: Is vibe coding a new mandatory job requirement? on Wednesday March 18, 2026 @10:37PM (#47434168)
I have seen it for a number of positions, but it seems ridiculous.
Re:How the Sriracha guys screwed over their supplier on Tuesday March 10, 2026 @08:54AM (#47322617)
I think it must be some form of "I'm special/better/smarter than that other person who got ripped off, I won't get taken advantage of!"
Having fired a third of CISA, these goals should be easy!
Re:I Brought an AI to a Hacking Contest (and Won) on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @12:57PM (#47251272)
I imagine the competition wasn't about who could use ai tools the best, but who knows...
Re:I Brought an AI to a Hacking Contest (and Won) on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @02:30PM (#47237599)
I stopped reading at "The competition itself was a beginner-friendly offensive security CTF..." Beating a bunch of inexperienced people does not impress me, and is poor sportsmanship as well.
Re:Red Robin Died by Spreadsheet. Don't Make the Same Mistake on Sunday February 22, 2026 @11:17AM (#47112210)
So that's how Hoka exploded onto shelves!

Wow you're right, it really is plagiarism. The original tweet: https://xcancel.com/aakashgupta/status/2024365923856240790
Re:Fighting games have a product design problem on Saturday February 21, 2026 @11:28PM (#47108155)
I enjoyed this analysis quite a bit.
