Milei is flailing.

Typical criminal politician move when they’re about to lose power.

Will that knowledge stick? Given that you blasted through many things relatively quick?
Great code has never been the requirement of success.

Throughout my career no software that hits $100m annual revenue was born from great code. That’s 2 fortune 100 hi-tech companies with other medium sized companies with revenue close to $1B.

There was one company that had better codebase than the others, unfortunately that company struggles to hit $2M MRR…

Looking back, it was painful to admit that code quality was not how the company succeed: it was overall strategy and luck.

Be careful what you wish for. Amazonians are in a no-hire list in quite a few companies.

The reason is simple: nobody wants to bring in toxic culture.

short-term?

how about 100 years?

> Beginning in Great Britain around 1760, the Industrial Revolution had spread to continental Europe and the United States by about 1840

You know what else happened during that 100-200 years time frame? 2 Wars + Governments decided to step in and rebuild post-war. Governments tax the rich/elite by 90%.

You know what else happened? workers being punished physically and mentally until the formation of Unions.

You skipped a big chunk of The Ruling Class always exploit everybody else like what we're seeing right now: Tech CEOs laying off and not hiring.

History repeats again.

Are our productivity increase for the better? People are still working overtime because of reduced worker's protection today.

Unions and worker's rights exist because workers were exploited to the max during the Industrial Revolution.
Many people who pointed out the Industrial Revolution becomes the basis of modern quality of life skip what happened in between the 17xx-18xx until today.

Things like Unions, Wars, etc.

What comes after new technology has always been the elite class owning them all and forcing everybody else to suffer until something managed the distribution of resources slightly better (War forces that).

All politicians will say what people want to hear.
> 1 USD buys nearly $1.40 CAD.

Right before Trump (2024), 1.42 CAD at the top. During Trump, barely hits 1.40 CAD, one time it touched 1.37 CAD.

In that blog post, the author said safer than C not Rust.
Majority weren’t billionaires when they started their successful companies.

Their successful companies (the employees) and the government, policies, and environment around them are the things that make them successful.

Billionaires mostly hoard assets. Important assets that you need (not want, need) to live.

The future is we all gonna go to war when there's no more juice to squeeze by the billionaires.

The future is coming in hot. Just look at what's happening lately.

US seems the only western nation with high trust issue with its own government.

Aussie, Canada, much of the Europe have no issue.

They have less and less resources
Inflation and rich people buying asset class drives everything up
Diversity in property means condos with various configurations, rowhouses, townhouses, multiplex (duplex, quadplex, sixplex).

Where I live, the local government decided to remove zoning thereby allowing more varieties of properties.

Price comes down in the sense that the missing middle provide options between condo to townhouse to detached

Someone reminds me all the time: consider AI as “companions” and “opinions”.

AI (adhd, neurodivergence) entrepreneurs took opinions and made them facts.

It takes certain personalities to lead an AI company.

It’s more likely that there are more western VC propaganda here than CCP.

The HN of Paul Graham era had finished.

This is the HN of Sam Altman and Gary Tan era.

Different VC/capitalist mindset

You don’t need those type to immigrate. You just need to export the ideology which is what happened to Alberta, the Texas of Canada.
Where in the article it suggested the spread due to immigration?

If any, it is due to misinformation and reluctance of those communities (mentioned specifically Alberta rural, y’know, the province that has been burned with misinformation, public health scandal, crazy Premier that has been stoking Separatism while cozying with MAGA that has threatened Canada sovereignty)

Re:Amazon hopes to replace 600k US workers with robots on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @01:09PM (#45658357)
"move up the value chain" assuming:

1. the next level opportunity exist

2. proper training (we all know that's pipe dream)

3. fits what these folks are looking for (for some, repetitive jobs == less stress than "creative" jobs).

but what about glut of workers == depress wage?

FTA:

Amazon has considered steps to improve its image as a “good corporate citizen” in preparation for the anticipated backlash around job losses, according to The NYT, reporting that the company considered participating in community projects and avoiding terms like “automation” and “AI.” More vague terms like “advanced technology” were explored instead, and using the term “cobot” for robots that work alongside humans.

Re:Amazon hopes to replace 600k US workers with robots on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @11:17AM (#45656891)
Look around you: middle class is shrinking all over the world despite hi-tech advancements.

Adjusting with inflation and everything else, are people better off today than in the 80s?

Re:Amazon hopes to replace 600k US workers with robots on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @11:14AM (#45656848)
Automation (and AI) was sold to reduce cost of living but in reality it's all about maximizing profits.
Re:Amazon hopes to replace 600k US workers with robots on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @11:12AM (#45656829)
why strange?

we realized that we don't want all the money/profit to circulate around the top 10 tech companies in the world where all of us are out of the equation...

All the spending cuts DOGE did wasn’t for Americans. It’s for the rich elite.
You have a good point except slightly misguided.

The rich wants more tax breaks so they can gobble up more money and own more assets at US citizens expense.

How’s that sound?

Still stoking the class divide war since …
also tax their other assets...
