News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Simply vile behaviour from Musk here. Nobody except delusion fanboys would be willing to work for such a company -- maybe that's the point of this cruelty?
> Serious brand safety issues. Our organic social and CS teams got dozens of screenshots of our ads next to awful content. Replies to our posts with hardcore antisemitism and adult spam remained up for days even when flagged

Not wanting your advertisements displayed right next to objectionable content is not 'virtue signalling' lol.

The world cup is in two days -- how will Twitter cope with the largest amount of traffic it sees all year? Why fire the majority of employees right before this major event?
Re:U.S. pushes Japan and other allies to join China chip curbs on Wednesday November 02, 2022 @12:44PM (#33438779)
I'd rather my country not follow the US off yet another cliff. We still remember the US lying about weapons of mass destruction to justify yet another unnecessary war (only necessary to feed the American war machine)

That article is over a year old and Apple does not allow this anymore. Of course Google and Amazon still do.

I loved Quibi's short form dramatic and comedic content.

Shape of Pasta is a cooking show about rare pasta types -- sometimes being made by only a single person in a village!

Run This City - A documentary about Jasiel Correia, the youngest mayor in Massachusetts who get's caught in numerous controversies.

Nightgowns follows Drag Queen Sasha Velour's Nightgowns tour, this program worked particularly well on the service.

There are a couple more shows that I live Dishmantled, Let's Roll, Singled Out.

The issue is that these shows had 7 - 10 episodes each. Most of Quibi's content is daily news programming. It honestly felt similar to the daily news shows I can get on Snapchat for free.

If Quibi had more shows like the non-daily news shows I think I would have stayed longer, but Quibi's content is mostly daily news.

I think instantly feeling uncomfortable about a term like "White Fragility" and writing an entire comment about being uncomfortable about the term instead of a comment about the racism Black people face in all walks of life is a perfect example of white fragility.
That's an incredibly charitable description.

First, Trump lost the popular vote by millions.

Second, T_D has been a source of posts that incite violence, harass other users and general racism/homophobia

Like way behind. I remember visiting from Canada and being surprised when cashiers had no idea what chip and pin was. We had chip and pin in Canada for years already, but the US was still relying on signatures.
Also Thiel has a history to supporting anti-gay people. Like the anti-gay politicians who get outed, I don't have any sympathy for him and how he has harmed the community.
Re:Share Now, formerly Car2Go, is leaving North America on Wednesday December 18, 2019 @04:07PM (#21829463)
I think a true car share coop model works better than a private business that doesn't have roots in the city they are operating in. The model in my city is expanding rapidly. basically you buy a share into the coop for $500 (you get this money back if you decide to leave) and then you get discounted fares for the vehicles.
Good, imagine trying to ensure your employees are powerless. Disgusting. Unions empower employees.
Re:Airbnb Plans to Verify Every Listing on Wednesday November 06, 2019 @04:43PM (#21467746)
Most Airbnb scams rely on false reviews that AirBnb already is failing to catch.
Maybe not this malware, but there is other malware on the Play Store.

No, this is actually a real thing that happens when the news covers driver pedestrian interactions.

Re:India bans e-cigarettes, citing youth health concerns on Wednesday September 18, 2019 @01:04PM (#21007398)
Does it matter? This is about vapes. Pointing at something else that is harmful and saying "What about this though", is unhelpful and lazy.
Re:Mental-health information 'sold to advertisers' on Wednesday September 04, 2019 @11:46AM (#20878290)
Agree, I don't need a million ads for a useless text therapist app.
Also they've switched to the absolute worst, bottom-of-the-barrel delivery companies in many places.

When Canada Post couldn't deliver my package I only had to walk 5 minutes to pick it up.

Whoever their new delivery partner is. I'd have to drive to the edge of the city to pick up my package.

Why do Americans continue to accept this terribly flawed systems for their 'healthcare'.
They all exposed that GM lied?

No, they didn't

I think damaging families is the point of this policy.
Re:Why Don't Americans Understand How Poor Their Lives Are? on Thursday April 04, 2019 @09:03AM (#19571747)
Is that why people cannot afford insulin in America. This is something to be celebrated?
Re:Electric Cars Hit Record in Norway on Wednesday April 03, 2019 @04:13PM (#19566873)
"Electric Cars Hit Record in Norway Making Up Nearly 60 Percent of Sales in March"

Where does the headline suggest that? It simply states the makeup of sales.

Still sad about Google reader closing I've been hesitant to put my faith in any new Google product since.
Why are these cars legal on the road?

Re:Addressing Spotify’s Claims on Friday March 15, 2019 @11:38AM (#19400658)
I guess you didn't take the time to read the full response:

When we reached out to Spotify about Siri and AirPlay 2 support on several occasions, they’ve told us they’re working on it, and we stand ready to help them where we can.
