Is that so? You haven't tried cannibis derived products or you would have said "did not do anything.". But ok sell the opioids.

Thank you comment police. There was no bullying there.
Re:Binance sees $2B in outflows as troubles compound on Wednesday March 29, 2023 @12:02AM (#35352321)
Well Binance was a partner of FTX and invested 20% in them, so I'd say they were friendly at some point.
Re:Binance sees $2B in outflows as troubles compound on Tuesday March 28, 2023 @11:56PM (#35352261)
Be careful, it's a fake market and you have no idea how easily they might be able to control the price, for a while at least
Re:Binance sees $2B in outflows as troubles compound on Tuesday March 28, 2023 @11:55PM (#35352241)
Or it's mostly wash traded and manipulated so not very related.
Except that these platforms often have 'government' specific offerings that are not the same as everyone else.
How about they implement it for all politicians and executives first, then the rest of us if that works out.

Everyone has rights or no one has rights

You mean Zelensky?
Games are minor issue now, to the point I buy new games on Steam without even checking compatibility, because they just work (or have the same problems Windows does anyway.

Windows strong point is basically some large software vendors just don't support Linux (Photoshop, finance software, etc). And of course corporate. For the day to day 'casual' user Linux is every bit as good. But, much as we all had to 'learn' Windows when we started using it, so there will be at least a little learning required for Linux.

Re:Hindenburg Research Outs Block Inc as Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @10:51AM (#35275712)
Indeed, VC's loaded with 'free' money pumping whatever idea could bring in the consumers enough to keep a narrative spinning.

I haven't seen any particularly strong profitability case for ChatGPT and the like yet, unless you call ad dollars from promoting "ChatXX does this amazing trick!" as proof.

People barely even questioned the ludicrous wages being thrown around in silicon valley, supported by 'funding rounds' and silly valuations of future growth.

But, it all sucks because the people that will lose are the last-in-chain investors and the to-be-unemployed. Not the VC crybabies currently out there complaining about their need for protection by the establishment they protest.

So can a PC, a car or a cat. You're not making any point here.
Re:Hindenburg Research Outs Block Inc as Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @09:02AM (#35274057)
Probably just because they offer similar services, so a bit of contagion.
Re:Hindenburg Research Outs Block Inc as Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @09:00AM (#35274036)
What? Do you know who Hindenburg are or are you just a shill account (or Bill Ackman fanboy)?

Short sellers are essentially litmus tests. If you're all legit, they'll get wrecked, if you're doing dumb things, you're about to get found out.

Re:Hindenburg Research Outs Block Inc as Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @08:58AM (#35274009)
This is bad for Block. I hope. It's incredible that since 2008 it actually seemed immensely easier to skirt regulations and laws (under the banner of 'innovation'), and not just in finance. Just about all of silicon valley seems to have run the longest and broadest grift we've seen.

This year's gonna get real interesting.

Refer to my point on past inputs. If a human suddenly said to the machine "change of rules, now you have to play by these new rules" the AI suddenly gets immensely dumber and will apply useless solutions.
Re:SEC Charges Justin Sun and His Crypto Companies for Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @08:34AM (#35273722)
If people just wanted crypto for its utility they wouldn't give their money to exchanges in the first place. But they take that risk for sparkly returns.

Too many people want to have their cake and eat it too:

- Crypto separate from banking system but still regulated in the same way anyway

- Crypto as currency but still want juicy returns

- Crypto is decentralised but give their coins to centralised exchanges

Re:SEC Charges Justin Sun and His Crypto Companies for Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @08:30AM (#35273678)
Or connected to the right people, as with his Tether bros
Re:SEC Charges Justin Sun and His Crypto Companies for Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @08:29AM (#35273665)
Amazing that, almost like it wasn't quite genuine...
Re:SEC Charges Justin Sun and His Crypto Companies for Fraud on Thursday March 23, 2023 @08:29AM (#35273656)
Only if the follow up statement is "and I'm willing to cooperate in providing the evidence"
I think the argument is more that they only work from past inputs, they interpret the world the way they are told to. It is not that 'AI' can do things humans can't (otherwise the argument fails for many technical things, like a car at speed).

If your bet is on the former, how does it create an entirely new, irrational thought?

Re:Coinbase issued Wells notice by SEC on Wednesday March 22, 2023 @09:21PM (#35269374)
I suppose so long as cryptocurrencies aren't interacting with the dollar markets at all that makes sense...
Re:Coinbase issued Wells notice by SEC on Wednesday March 22, 2023 @09:18PM (#35269361)
Didn't they just offer ~$3Bil to Circle recently?
Re:Coinbase issued Wells notice by SEC on Wednesday March 22, 2023 @09:17PM (#35269358)
Does Coinbase stake on the user's behalf? Do they take a cut? What is Coinbase doing with the staked crypto?

Don't regular banks turn your deposits into investments (securities) that provide returns which become your interest?

Is the idea here that Coinbase is doing nothing but passing your crypto to the 'investment banks' to trade with and earn your return, then just depositing that 'interest' back?

Re:Coinbase issued Wells notice by SEC on Wednesday March 22, 2023 @09:05PM (#35269293)
If they're trying to be that then they probably shouldn't be offering shitcoins like "I will poop it NFT" or "PonziCOIN".
Ah the old having their cake and eating it too.
Re:Alternative facts: How the media failed Julian Assange on Sunday March 19, 2023 @11:37AM (#35220054)
Sure, that's a moral judgement. What's that got to do with the government's reaction and pursuit since, based on what was released?

I mean, if Wikileaks did (I wish they did, political bias ruins everything) release both troves, would your thoughts on the current situation change?

Re:Alternative facts: How the media failed Julian Assange on Sunday March 19, 2023 @10:46AM (#35219464)
Got non-circumstantial evidence for that? I mean there certainly should be some for the seriousness of his pursuit.

I don't like the guy, but I also don't like arguments based on political narratives.

Is the evidence Assange released factual?

Re:Alternative facts: How the media failed Julian Assange on Sunday March 19, 2023 @10:45AM (#35219445)
That's not a response to the comment above's point.
Re:Alternative facts: How the media failed Julian Assange on Sunday March 19, 2023 @10:44AM (#35219429)
You, like so many, are focusing on the ad hominem rather than the merits of the evidence and exposure. Why are we talking so much about Assange being in jail or not instead of those the information implicates?
Re:Alternative facts: How the media failed Julian Assange on Sunday March 19, 2023 @10:39AM (#35219370)
I think that's why people need to look past the character and heresays and look at the facts and processes.

Ignore Assange's character, make him an anonymous person instead and think "is the process X person has gone through for Y actions reasonable/legal/supportable?"

Should whistleblowers be supported or vilified?
