Sure, and I have a bridge to sell you. Or alternately refer you to the inevitability of Goodhart's law.
There was a code reviewer starting with M before Critique iirc (Mondrian I wanna say?). The M code reviewer was completely written in Python iirc.
At some point you have to wonder if there's some manipulation going on? Do 100s of bots buy and sell these stocks at specific times to keep the price up? Maybe there's an institutional investor or few who secretly back Elon and are part of a scheme?
A bit speculative reply but would appreciate if anybody links any such analysis'/investigations.
From my limited knowledge, I know people have been shorting Tesla based on fundamentals for a while now but haven't been successful.
You can go back by the year. Though I ended up hitting another roadblock down the road yesterday. So, I am currently waiting a couple of weeks for the flow to be functional.
> It is weird how humans are biased like that.
We are able to cleanly separate facts from non-facts (for the most part). This is what LLM are trying to replicate now.
Maybe you are a games developer and are overlooking the fact that people have to first learn the basic apis/models/etc. of graphical systems, engines, etc. before using them. Not sure how you are saying that it wouldn't take a few weeks to code even a simple production game like chess or more complicated but still simple Jump king etc.
Just think of the speciality in which you aren't an expert, javascript/storage/networking ...
What is the contradiction? I am guessing it will take me a non-significant effort to learn game mechanics and code them etc.
> What I like about this post is that it highlights something a lot of devs gloss over: the coding part of game development was never really the bottleneck. A solo developer can crank out mechanics pretty quickly, with or without AI.
This is not true at all. I have never worked on games and it will take me quite a while (even months) to write a "basic" game. While I know a lot of good practices about software development and decade+ of FAANG experience, I don't know the intricacies or even the basics of game development.
I recently experienced this for a different usecase. As an experienced backend developer, I wanted to automate some javascript/browser stuff. I tried on my own for 2-3 days and had couple of prototypes but nothing actually worked. I spent 2 hours with an AI and I had a working solution. We even iterated together quickly and solved some runtime issues and the solution is working for me seamlessly now.
So, I definitely see value of AI even for coding for experienced developers like myself.
> Almost nobody sets prices manually. You either use Airbnb's pricing algorithm, or one from a third party. Either way it's set automatically based on local occupancy rates/hotel prices/etc.
This seems pretty undesirable. Very easy for Airbnb/third party to increase prices even without demand just to increase their prices.
We recently saw a similar price fixing lawsuit for renters. Landlords, co-ordinating together, ended up increasing prices of Condos across major American cities (via means of a third party). The consumer ends up paying unnecessarily high prices in an inelastic market.
Could you anonymize and share your last 5-10 prompts? Just wanna understand how people are using Claude Code.
I have been texting from my laptop from 2010 via Google Voice.
What are the property crimes in SF/Bay Area? Just curious.
For a lot of these changes, you need a motivated and engaged enforcer/system-owner who will work through these challenges. It takes time and effort to change the culture of a group. I can't imagine someone wanting to change unless they either gain a strong motivation (highly unlikely given that they have been in the current condition for a while themselves) or they are given the right framework/setup by someone else (govt. in this case). So, this is a hard problem and one shouldn't get disheartened due to no progress so far.
Maybe you were
technically right for some small scope of the problem, no proper industry definition of GC was supported by C++ by any of the major compiler. So, the HPC scientists were right imo.
Being technically right for an aspect that doesn't matter is a common trope that a lot of software engineers fall for.
Would be interested in a link to a model if you have one handy!
OOTL here. Are there any major phones which implement RISC-V? Also, does this require across the stack changes? i.e. not just OS ones.
Ironically, the EVs are currently priced higher due to Fed+State tax incentives. I bet the EV prices would be much lower if there were no such tax incentives (this is evidenced by the fact that EV prices are usually updated the day after the govt. changes these values).
Yeah I use this for very limited functionality like maps, whatsapp, uber eats. I am also mostly interacting with Google playstore for apps/apks etc. This does still leave the phone open for any day0s etc. but we will cross the bridge when we get there. I am not important enough for anyone to target me specifically and I also keep a low profile.
I was thinking about upgrading this year but I am now thinking of waiting another year since there are no immediate problems.
I am still using my Pixel 3 (now without upgrades) without major issues. So, happy to see the new phones have longer promised update cycles. Hopefully Google doesn't clawback this promise in the future.
This has to be the biggest thing in Factorio since sliced bread. Can't wait for all the 3d spaghetti!
It's not O(N^2) is it? It can be a continuous line of ice being pushed up. Depending on the weight bearing ability of the lift and digging capacity, you would figure out a fixed distance after which you would place the buckets to carry up the ice.
Its an interesting interview question at the very least. (More complications arise as and how you get deeper into the ice).
This has to also apply to PMs/ICs as well at some level right? You can just have one core role in your organization have no personal growth for 2-3 years and other core roles keep progressing. Most of the time you have a cross functional team for a lot of launches and only have few members get promoted for them seems like a non-starter.
I test drove a Model 3 recently and wasn't impressed at all. I would never buy the car, on its own and with so many news stories like this where they are cutting costs for lower feature set essentially.
On a different note, shouldn't Apple support viable hardware till its live? Lack of security/OS updates is basically bricking a perfectly functional device and creating more waste on Earth. They could even charge users for an upgrade after a while if it means overall less waste on the planet. Ofcourse, it means that there's less sales at Apple but hopefully they're big enough to not bother with this.
> No idea why shareholders still tolerate their crap.
Shareholders have no option. Larry + Sergey are still majority shareholders iirc.
1. Any book recommendations to improve communication skills?
2. for an experienced software developer (10+ years) transitioning to strategic roles (i.e. TL of multiple business areas)?
3. for someone looking to be less head-on and instead more diplomatic in conversation style.
AI has generally been shown to have high creativity (e.g. Dall-E). However, AI is still lagging in other functional areas where humans excel (e.g. driving).
So, the conclusion might be the actual opposite that AI will first achieve human level creativity before (if ever) acquiring human functional skills.
As an early Tesla investor (from early-mid 2010s), I find Elon's behaviour change over last 2-3 years pretty toxic and inhumane. From the days of fighting california for covid lockdowns to now hiding behind "free speech" doing whatever he wants anyways (which is sucking up to republics and russians and who knows who else).
I want to say this isn't 100% unexpected (some people show true behaviour openly only once they have nothing to lose). However, this does indicate a very deep flaw in our existing society i.e. giving certain individuals too much power; either via their job position or capital. This is why I think we should have higher tax rates and prevent at least an individual just to gain too much control by their capital. I would even be ok with 50%-100% tax rate above 100 million dollars net worth. There needs to be less imbalance in society, not more.
PS: Also I had divested away from individual Tesla stocks a year or so ago.
