4 notches
Stock seems to have shot up ~7% aftermarket so just cost of business.
Re:Sharing AI progress in mathematics on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @07:10AM (#49991105)
What is preventing these crossword solvers from not looking at the advanced crossword solutions?

Mathematicians and academics in their ivory towers are forgetting that everything is getting automated. They want to carve out fun problem solving niches that's fine but who's going to fund that? If they want to be funded by the society/civilization their argument can't be leave advanced fun problems for their hobby.

> stop testing advanced mathematical problems on proprietary models

I don't know but this phrasing comes off as gatekeeping.

Because they asked the model what it wanted to be called?
Is this for setup for agentic coding? Why not also run the IDE compiler etc... on the same machine to use those CPU cores as well?
Like far right isn't going to vote in mass surveillance the moment they have any chance. (Not disputing that there are other frustrations that are fuelling the rise of far right, correct or not. But isn't one of those)
I blame Corbyn as much as Cameron if not more. Corbyn was supposed to represent the working class but because Remain could have benefited some Tories he backstabbed the working class and at least a whole generation if not 2 and for what?

Yes I think motherduck is going to get ... well motherducked bad by AWS

I am pretty sure the Luddites did more than just print manifestos.
Re:We never use AI. For anything on Monday August 24, 2026 @06:01AM (#49417528)
And the human beings who use them to produce code don't produce deterministic results either. Current harnesses have come a long a way to make non determinism not be a problem for quite a few areas. And the scope keeps increasing every day.
Re:We never use AI. For anything on Monday August 24, 2026 @05:57AM (#49417487)
That's a strange hill to die on. It's like saying we will never use an IDE or static linter or syntax highlighter etc...

Also there are already non-VC subsidized hosted open weights LLM providers which should give you a very good sense of the marginal cost.

Re:My agent.md to improve LLM-assisted code quality on Sunday August 23, 2026 @06:26PM (#49413226)
I forbid my agents from adding any comments. I review the code and add comments manually. If I can't understand something despite having the context then I throw away the code instead of having an LLM generate comments to explain what it did. This way the code stays readable/debuggable by humans.
Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. This gives me some ideas on some 2 data center setup with tolerance for 1 DC failure within VR or Paxos that I didn't think was possible.
Is this flexible quorum something that deviates from VSR? I thought VSR requires majority of the nodes to form quorum.
Java is to JavaScript what a Car is to Carpet. Very different beasts, though a lot of V8 work was inspired by Hotspot that's just because of common VM patterns not the syntax of the languages.
Re:Be skeptical of OpenAI's rogue hacker agent story on Friday July 24, 2026 @03:05PM (#49040286)
Concluding this was intentional feels a bit of a stretch. But once it happened, yeah the spin masters got to work and coordinated to turn this into +PR.
Selling cheaper cannibalizes next season's fashion.
Sorry to Godwin the thread but the Third Reich would like a word.

There's something about keyboard shortcuts - they work. But somehow right-click and copy requires add-ons.

Look up CDED (Crohn's disease exclusion diet) which is the first line of treatment for pediatric Crohn's and now it's increasingly being used for adults. So don't dismiss the diet link despite the facts and research.

An important missed angle is the effect of artificial sweeteners on gut microbiome. They cause intestinal inflammation which is relevant for IBD sufferers. My take is that I don't miss out on much by being conservative with food, as we still don't understand these complex interactions well enough. What's the harm in sticking to a balanced whole diet of ingredients that were available to our ancestors 200years or more ago.

> halve my effective memory in order to completely eliminate the tail latency problem,

Wouldn't you have a tail latency problem on the write side though if you just blindly apply it every where? As in unless all the replicas are done writing you can't proceed.

I like the formulatiom that 100% of the cancer tumors have DHMO and no one has done anything about it.
> If there's a fundamental culture shift,

You mean this culture shift is needed for the masses but I don't think that's the case. In my widest social circle I am not aware of anyone giving alcohol to young kids (yes by the time they are 16ish yes but even that's rare). Most guardians would willingly do similar with locked devices.

The real problem is that the governments/companies won't get to spy on you if locked devices are given to children only. They want to spy on us all. That's the missing cultural shift.

Re:Gemini 3 Deep Think on Friday February 13, 2026 @11:21AM (#47004450)
What is their Claude code equivalent?
You just copy paste as in you copy paste all the necessary context and the results. You don't give it access to your codebase for read or write, correct?

"I am seeing" as in do you use CO2 batteries at home or something?

If you tested this on macos, be careful. The fsync on it lies.
