News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

People here avoid sitting near everyone. If you have 5 bags of stuff(cause that what tourists do), or even if you are overweight (something not that common here, and space-wise is a wise decision) then even worse.

But I don't think you are trying to have a conversation here, than just trying to push "facts" you read on reddit.

Well, the word sick was too much. Not normal? I don't know it feels wrong.
It makes sense. Just trying to breathe from the mouth for a while makes me feel sick.
Corporations that have long outlived the original creator and cry about you not paying them. The horror!
It might be entitlement. But I dont f*cking care anymore.

Having to manage 7 subscription services for the 5 movies I watch per month and having to divide by zero to transfer my files from one device to another is hell.

I don't buy digital goods anymore, except games. And you know why? Because everything is on steam and available with one click.

I remember this feeling well. If I heard birds chirping or children playing I was very upset that I wasn't outside experiencing life.

Re:Ask HN: Why can't I learn anymore? on Monday May 09, 2022 @06:22PM (#31320629)
> Rails does 95% of this out of the box

This is always my thoughts when I start a project with something else .

If a part of person is false, doesnt mean everything is false. If you cheat on your wife doesn't mean you never loved her. Mistakes are part of being human.
Re:Career advice nobody gave me: Never ignore a recruiter on Sunday February 06, 2022 @06:17PM (#30238096)
Completely agree. Not giving them 30 mins to learn the position is half the money im making.
Complain how? In older times we could just mail the company now the support page has stupid chat bots that do nothing, and you have to fight with it or the damn page for 5 mins before you can send a mail. Most of the times I just give up. And if we complain for every site takes too much time. And it will boil down to "sure sir, but thata how it is"

Exactly. If you are looking for racism you will find it. If you are looking to get offended you will get offended.

ww or 笑 is absolutely 100% acceptable as a guy. It has never even crossed my mind and a hundred of people I worked with use it. Dont know where did you get this info.

Re:Ask HN: Life Changing Books? on Tuesday December 21, 2021 @06:32AM (#29636350)

Re:Our self imposed scarcity of nice places on Friday November 05, 2021 @06:52PM (#29125583)
I love tiny apartments. In Tokyo houses are tiny but enough. You have to be clever when there is no space. Also, we should be more careful with the space we use for living. Smaller living spaces equals more space for park, forests etc
Re:200k-year-old hand art found near a Tibetan hot spring on Sunday September 26, 2021 @05:21AM (#28659512)
Seeing revolutionary inventions is not the meaning of life though nor makes our time more precious than others.
Re:Houses in Japan are going for as little as $500 on Monday August 23, 2021 @05:26AM (#28273761)
Speak Japanese then.
Resident of Tokyo for years here. The homeless here make some money from picking up trash and selling to the municipalities so noone begs. Also Tokyo is super safe, so they can sleep wherever without worrying. Also you have to count the fact that housing is insanely cheap in places like Tama (although very far from city center)

But lately I have noticed an increase in homeless people, maybe its just Coronavirus? At any rate i wish the city did more. Both for them and for the rest of people. I wish them the best, but let's be honest its not a good sight or smell.

Re:“Great resignation” wave coming for companies on Saturday June 19, 2021 @08:25PM (#27565859)
Because they see you as "another one person they have to interview" while they should approach you as someone completely new. I did the same mistake as an interviewer in the past.

Not the person you replied to, but I have also noticed that sometimes it doesn't work and still give the usual SEO bullshit results. I don't remember exactly what I was searching unfortunately.

So damn well said.
The handwriting to text seems cool but these things never work for anything else than English.

Writing things like this reminds me of edgy teenager on the internet of early 2000s.
Re:Toshiba formally and finally exits laptop business on Saturday August 08, 2020 @05:50PM (#24095535)
Some of the stuff you list are not that sudden. Switch for example is exactly a product of long time refinement. Nintendo has been trying to make a tv-portable hybrid since the snes years.
