I can believe it. Using DS4.1 to decomp old games, it is quite capable of doing so, but the amount of mistakes it makes, by the time I get it right Sol 6.1 would have long ported it correctly more thoroughly. For some tasks Sol really shows its superiority
I love this! Though I don't own a Mac anymore. I expect this to work as a standard keyboard in Linux? Which features are mac-only?

I find that LLMs are quite good at translating code. If you are writing something from scratch you have the burden of preparing something for the LLMs to "translate" from, i.e. prompt or specifications – next best thing to actual source code.

Defining specifications with the level of detail needed to build applications exactly as intended is not as trivial as it may seem.

Re:My Homelab Setup on Monday March 09, 2026 @10:11AM (#47309334)
not really a solution (as others have pointed out already) but it also tells me you are missing a central identity provider (think Microsoft account login). You can try deploying Kanidm for a really simple and lightweight one :)
Ladybird can't arrive sooner

at my work place we call them "Agile Champions" now
I’m in a similar boat like you. I would love for a React-like library that compiles down to direct JavaScript DOM transforms. Of course Svelte exists but I don’t want to mark what is reactive or not and I can’t go back to html templates after using typed JSX. Also I don’t really like the “island” like template syntax of Vue, Svelte, etc
I wish all Chromium forks would band together to maintain a base that supports Manifest V2, it shouldn't be that difficult to each chip in some funding.
VSCode is still a very competitive text editor even without its proprietary plugins.

Ootb VSCode is already a superior experience to Emacs, which I only begrudgingly move away from because of subpar TypeScript + JSX support like 6 years ago. However, after I started using VSCode for work there was just no going back. I use VSCode a lot for text manipulations. I find its regex search replace much easier than using sed in the terminal. Multiple cursors, Git integration, beautiful diffs, command palette is just like Emacs M-x.

Without its proprietary plugins it's still a great gift to the public and forks like Cursor is a good showcase of that. Thanks to monaco almost every web editor nowaways have great usability, syntax highlighting and the keybindings that I'm familiar with.

I think the bigger joke of the century are open source beneficiaries that only take and give nothing back, but still have the audacity to demand for things and hound open source developers to implement what they want. You can't have your cake and eat it too

Sounds like recipe for r/spicypillows
Even now that they have reversed it I'm now determined to find a way to do this the cheapest way possible
I have a similar setup, it will not be immune if they start implementing in your area. They were rolling out by areas before they reversed course. Your upstream will stop working unless you proxy it through another network
can you share a little on your setup?
I'm in PJ. It seems that they have reversed the move after wide media coverage, claiming that it there has been a "confusion"
I'm Malaysian. They even messed up DoH for the popular DNS providers like Google and Cloudflare. I think they are routing 1.1.1.1 to their own DNS, so when you try to connect to DoH you get SSL_ERR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN. The only option it seems is to VPN or play the cat and mouse game now to find a DNS that hasn't been rerouted yet
Re:Apple will reportedly pay OpenAI with 'exposure' on Friday June 14, 2024 @10:47AM (#40681420)
It's between ChatGPT being on there or something else like Claude... OpenAI cannot afford to let the masses know there is something out there that is just as good
For on-device AI as a matter of fact it is. 35 TOPS vs 17 TOPS is quite substantial. For reference Microsoft demands 40+ TOPS for “Copilot+” PCs.

Probably they could offload more to their servers but it wouldn’t be the same experience definitely.

if you are at a stage where this matters you will not be using Array.shift or even Array for that matter. JavaScript has lower level facilities for this.
does anyone know to make a diagram using text like that in the README?
There are a few convenient scapegoats here but ultimately in this case it is not biometric unlock that enabled this but rather characteristic of the Active Directory's design (I'm not sure I will call it a weakness).

For Android and iOS if you forget your PIN code I believe you are screwed, as in no one can decrypt your device for you.

> The goal is to enhance the user experience and interface, making it more user-friendly and visually appealing

I don't want to sound discouraging, but the thing you need to realize is most of us are here because we like its user interface, not despite it. If you're looking to enhance the site you should improve on its strengths, not change it to something it isn't.

Hacker News loads instantly all the time and I think I speak for most here that we don't want all these extra JS or Next React wizardry.

Forget small companies. Apple is famously known for blocking import of 3rd party parts for repair, but refuses to sell such parts to independent repair shops before recently.

If every app need to poll different servers periodically or, listen for pushes, it will be a nightmare for battery life and be a big detriment to phone resource usage.
Re:Epic vs. Google: Google Loses on Monday December 11, 2023 @10:39PM (#38609109)
I don't fully understand. Are these functionalities baked into Android that only allow Play Store to use it?
The other thing is Wineskin using CrossOver as its main engine now performs so much better than vanilla wine.
When I still used Windows I remember there used to be a Windows "N" version. Some AIO ISOs will let you choose
Re:Localsend: Open-Source Airdrop Alternative on Thursday October 19, 2023 @05:49AM (#37940635)
The most awesome thing about Airdrop is when you can find the other device, and even more magical if you can do that on the first try: you can send files without being on the same network or heck, you don't even need to be connected to the Internet at all. That is neat.
Re:Omnivore – free, open source, read-it-later App on Monday October 16, 2023 @03:52AM (#37896893)
What I'm looking for is more of a solution to save a webpage as it is. Kind of like Internet Archive but better for individual pages. The thing with Internet archive is some things stop working, like mobile view etc
wouldn't that be easier if you just ssh?
If I understand this correctly, you are turning a computer into a router for another computer? Why would you do this?

I'm obviously a youngling
