on the other hand i know countless subcontractors/vendors that have dozens of work email addresses from different companies and are not really employees of any of them.

so yea, emails are not a trusworthy source of anything, but filtering singups based on addresses is very common.

> Are the numbers that they are showing an average of all reports starting from 2007

tbf it would probably suffice to have that information somewhere

reputation systems don't just die off because they are found to be inadequate </s>

there is a constant influx of ppl that don't know yet [0]

then again, who decides if it is a (very) good reason?
have recently been in an interview were the scriptedness feeling crept in after the first few up-beat intro questions were done. didn't felt professional at all to see them working a questionaire with me.
yea, in oss projects, users tend to feel more like stakeholders than with products of some mega-corp.

we all know that these feedback channels just create a corpus of opinions to be used for arbitrary arguments by management. no one is gonna read or even react to this unless it's necessary.

> There's a reason Zerodium values iOS zero days less than Android ones too

iirc it was the other way around for some time

iirc there was a time where spamers would send calender invites to random gmail's
even remember a time when my galaxy s4 mini would ask me how it should represent itself when connected via usb; also drivedroid to emulate a cdrom drive with an downloaded .iso in order to boot older computers that don't know how to usb.

maybe i have been spoiled by the real computer in my pocket experience of custom rom's.

bought a 1st gen SE in 2017, dropped daily, nothing broke to this day. what a phone!
true. thou the second part of your comment sounds like you are saying that openwrt and linux have little in common.
> are companies not paying for overtime?

ime for most white collar contracts: no

maybe because time tracking (esp. with remote work) is trust based and hence essentially just a formality where noone expects the employee to report under-time.

openwrt indeed uses the linux kernel
iirc fritz-os was very much based on openwrt, same as most homerouters

if your wifi-ap runs freebsd you probably have more serious problems

how would you limit the interference to others?

depends, hence the checking.

> And is that sort of violation the kind of thing your local regulator would be scanning for and send someone out to shut you down?

highly doubtfull

> surely people in low income countries who only have access to the AZ vaccine can benefit from such tests if affordable test kits can be made available to local healthcare workers administrating the vaccination.

sounds suspiciously like the cost of the additional testing would more than ofset the savings on the vaccine itself

point beeing that self regulating markets are a lie
turbochargers are rather popular thou
i recon most (all?) cities have that

> Anyone that has worked in any highly regulated industry knows that its almost impossible to comply with every rule.

true

otoh there is something like "compliance with the spirit of the regulation" that is morally acceptable but will be exploited unless fiercely and proactively defended.

Re:Systemd-coredump: CVE-2022-4415: local information leak on Wednesday December 21, 2022 @10:31AM (#34081952)
coredumping crashed applications (or the kernel) was not invented by systemd
while i appreciate the freedom sentiment, i would think that there's a stark difference in any freedom in regard to population density.

in most german citys there is a set of acceptable colors to paint your house in (i.e. there is most certainly some authority that tells you what you can do to your property in any regard)

i would say that ios is the better un-tinkered experience because less will go wrong and if it does, there is not much you can do anyway.

probably the same reason why it's never the year of the linux desktop.

su asks for the root pw thou, which most ubuntu users don't know.

Handshakes also went somewhat out of fashion

Re:Migrate from Linux to FreeBSD on Monday November 07, 2022 @03:36AM (#33502941)

well no, i was saying that the information moves faster than the electrons. speed of light in vacuum remains unbeaten afaik
seems like you are both right
