Certain 'people' aren't going to get rich off of the suffering of others out of nowhere.
>How is it possible that a foreign leader, Netanyahu ( who has lied in the past to get us to attack iraq ), can get Trump to bomb Iran and nobody, especially in the media, bats an eye.

Same tribe.

And now https://github.com/X11Libre/xserver is off to a good start.
Fractional reserve lending, rehypothecation, etc.
Re:US Streetlights Are Turning Purple on Tuesday June 17, 2025 @09:41PM (#44305883)
Glad I converted nearly all of the lights in my house to halogen, and stocked up on decades of bulbs, before the ban. Nice warm adjustable light. No strobing LED trash fucking up my eyesight.
Re:Marines mobilized in response to LA protests on Monday June 09, 2025 @11:02PM (#44232039)
>achieved

It's criminal illegals/invaders shitting on a country they don't respect. There's no intention to achieve anything more than strongarming what used to be a great state, that's now a 3rd world lawless dump.

Re:Marines mobilized in response to LA protests on Monday June 09, 2025 @10:41PM (#44231913)
>good people of LA

Trash all over, businesses looted like the Adidas and T-mobile stores, Waymo EV car fires set, American flags burned, yea real "good" people of LA. More like a 3rd world dump of criminals and illegals/invaders.

It started with small and nimble innovators. Then it was shifted to Big Tech with the squeeze of patent trolling in the 2000's applied. It was capturing massive created value into the hands of few, connected, corrupt shitbags.

Has Amazon donated more to FreeBSD than Notch the Minecraft guy?
Positive development.
Re:ICANN fee price hike by 11% [pdf] on Thursday June 05, 2025 @09:19PM (#44197042)
Cartel.
Re:How big tech monopolies made the internet worse on Wednesday June 04, 2025 @09:39PM (#44187500)
Don't forget "IP" patent trolling from the 2000's. That was disasterously suppressive for innovation.
And for all of Mark Zuckerberg's wealth and property holdings, it wasn't enough and didn't stop him from trying to take sacred land from native Hawaiians on the island of Kauai.
Re:Denmark to raise retirement age to 70 on Sunday May 25, 2025 @09:50PM (#44093177)
This is why it's important to contribute as little as possible to others, especially the state. They will gladly take everything from you and then tell you you should be happy about it.
Scott Adams was right.
There are soulless golems outside of tech too FYI.

Wrong, it's late stage diversity. Individualism isn't a problem, atomization caused by racial and cultural diversity is.

Re:A Love Letter to People Who Believe in People on Saturday April 26, 2025 @11:25PM (#43809219)
Which people? It matters.
Tariffs are good. If you have a nice mall, and you allow street vendors to walk through it selling junk, eventually the mall becomes trashy and there's no benefit to paying the rent for a proper storefront.

Keep up the good work but don't be too disheartened when you realize they don't care.

I love stories like these that vindicate me. It's always the same smug idiots with the same snide attitude. Oh you put tape over your webcam 'lmao'. Oh who cares about /your/ DNA 'lmao'. ...
Re:Has the Decline of Knowledge Work Begun? on Wednesday March 26, 2025 @10:17PM (#43489777)
Even worse is the entitlement spending imbalance along racial lines.
Re:Has the Decline of Knowledge Work Begun? on Wednesday March 26, 2025 @10:03PM (#43489702)
Decline was a set of choices, it's just that the average person didn't make those choices and we're not allowed to discuss them or the people that made them.
Re:Carefully but Purposefully Oxidising Ubuntu on Monday March 17, 2025 @09:27PM (#43394807)
>I think more people might adopt this language if there weren't such in-group terminology like "oxidizing", "Rusteceans", pictures of rusty equipment etc.

I write Rust and I agree. Hype is the downside of attracting trendiness.

That's why I pirate everything. Originally I tried purchasing music files (iTunes) with the hope of it supporting musicians I liked. When it was a lesser, hindered experience, I switched back to pirating everything, still do, and always will.

Absurd claim given the untenable OS release cadence under Tim Cook.

"But better than M$" is still undeserving of the lofty implication from "level of polish".

Re:OpenBSD Innovations on Sunday February 23, 2025 @02:34AM (#43147468)
Big respect to OpenBSD. Now all it needs is a FS with ZFS's core capabilities and it'll be almost perfect.
Re:OpenBSD Innovations on Sunday February 23, 2025 @02:32AM (#43147461)
> /really weird/

That's only if you take CoC enjoyers at their word. It makes perfect sense when you realize it's not about advancing project or community, but rather controlfreak ideology.
