Some things cost way more than 10 or 15 million in terms of investment.
Why shouldn't a billionaire be capable of starting a genetics lab to fund cancer research and pay for it in cash, if they are so inclined?
Also almost all of super wealthy people's "wealth" is tied up in assets that are funding entire economies. This money is creating jobs, allowing for affordable loans, the money is working for many other people... It's not as if the money wealthy people have is just in physical gold coins in their swimming pools.
Isn't this like anything else? No one size solution typically works for everything. If you are a photographer/artist and true close to perfect rendering is for you... don't use WebP as the format to present your images.
Just make large pockets fashionably popular for women and women will have larger pockets... Don't think that this is rocket science or anything.
They should also do the reverse to give praise to companies who do the opposite.
Isn't PBS/NPR sort of close to the BBC?
It's impressive on the surface... But give me Google and I too can pass some extremely challenging tests that I actually know nothing about.
If someone told you I passed the "bar" exam, you would be impressed. If they then said, he had google and lots of time. You wouldn't be that impressed anymore.
The impressive thing here is that AI can read and answer questions... it's not overly impressive that it can use information found online and reconstruct that a bit.
We are sooooooooo screwed!
VC money is completely frozen. It's an insane tragedy. There needs to be a bank where we can put our funds above 250k that is insured but also heavily regulated.
It's far too easy to sell the common person on "bad people bad". Explaining to the common person why they should care about encryption and how bad people can and will exploit any hole in that encryption is far more nuanced.
It says a lot that they pay based on things like "where do you live" VS the value of the work that you do.
But blocking political speech equally from one subreddit, is different then say blocking an article about a presidential son's laptop from multiple entire platforms.
moderation also exists for 4. political purposes and biases
Concussions are still very much a thing.
Pretty sure whoever is willing to pay a ton will win the war for Top Talent.
Yes that's it!!!! Holy cow that takes me back.
Reminds me of this watch I used to have way back in the day, maybe late 90's... It had a little eye and you would put it in some kind of programming mode and the eye would read the signals on the screen. If I recall correctly it looked a lot like this, just flashing lines on the screen.
Being in software development, I have no choice! Feel like every time I blink there is a new something to learn. After working in this field for 14 years I am still very much a newbie.
I would happily pay more for a company that will refuse to do this. This will be a strong market opportunity, at least for this buyer.
As a want to buy a home person... I certainly hope you are correct. As it stands now, it just doesn't make sense to buy a home.
From what I've heard there is a massive supply issue. Rates will only fall if supply increases or if demand drops. From what I've heard, the demand isn't expected to fall and there are limits in the supply side of things due to all sorts of issues many stemming from covid and the long recession we had on the housing market post crash of 2008.
Ideally demand will go down because things as it stands are just not affordable to most. The rent also is going way up, so that drives housing prices too.
It's an SVG animation. There are a number of programs that can be used to create such an animation.
I use Flow, pretty simple to use and it's included with setapp (an app subscription platform on mac).

You can also check out svgator, it's an online based solution.

Cheers!
If you are a photographer, this would be epic.
What happens if you lose your device or it breaks or something? Do you lose access to anything tied to it?
Might be an unpopular opinion... but this is exactly why we shouldn't do student loan debt forgiveness. The root core of the issue wouldn't at all be addressed and it would actually be a signal to universities and students alike, that Universities can charge more, and students can continue to take out larger loans because... they might be forgiven at some future point in time.
He had a history, he threatened a school but nothing was done. Seems like they are trying to point fingers when really we have a serious issue with treating mental illness and mental health. No one wishes to address the elephant in the room.
If we are honest however, these are theories however "unfounded" they might be...
Science is a continual pursuit of what is accurate and even then when we have a scientific proof, it's often not always permanent.
It was a theory that this came from a lab. It was perhaps another theory that the lab was working on this perhaps in part as a bioweapon. We can get into the politics of why China in general can't really be trusted and so who the heck knows... and that of course leads to skepticism and theories such as these.
These theories may or may not be true the same way "covid-19" came from a wet market may or may not be true. It's okay to say we don't know, here are some theories... That's science.
We should try to get to the bottom of it so that whatever happened is exposed and we can learn from this.
A third party getting in the way and deciding based on who knows what, what theories are okay to talk about and what theories are not okay to talk about is a horrible idea.
Perhaps Google is working on a multi-billion dollar deal with China to put Google in all of the phones made in China? You better believe that if China told Google, "Hey this theory is false (trust us), you better take down anything that talks about it"... Google would be very pressured to comply.
Imagine if Britain had this same technology when the USA was founded... It of course would have quickly cracked down on communications and it would have done so in the name of "peace" and "what's right"...
This idea that thinking critically of a government and even believing that perhaps the government as it stands today is not the government "of and for the people" (sure could be interpreted as anti-democracy by that same corrupt government)... And maybe that's not correct, but who is the government to say that we can or cannot challenge them in public discourse as it is supposedly protected under the first amendment?
This is indeed an insanely slippery slope and people willing to trade their freedoms because they think it's for the ultimate good, I think are really making a mistake... it's not difficult to understand that this is one of the first steps of an actual fundamentally corrupt government... This is easily open to abuse and vast interpretation.
Sadly there's nothing "instant" about this... Takes a long time to load and it's pretty clunky once it does.
not just an important market, an integral part of their supply chain. Without China, Apple wouldn't be able to make a single product as it stands today. China has all the power in that relationship.
