Re:Throbol – The Robot Oriented Language on Wednesday September 13, 2023 @03:03AM (#37493155)
Side note and nothing to do with that. But does anyone knows why some washing machines timer are way way out ? meaning 1 minute washing machine is equivalent to 1:30mn real time ?

Okay nevermind: I should have google in english first :p

`Washing machine timers are sometimes in conflict with high-efficiency features like load sensing, which attempts to gauge the size of the load and only use as much water as needed to finish the cycle. That measurement may ultimately affect how much time the cycle needs, making the timer overly optimistic. ` https://reviewed.usatoday.com/laundry/features/why-the-timer... https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/646586/why-washing-machi....

Re:Lime Text: Open Source Sublime Text clone on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @09:50AM (#8197222)
Sorry for being an 10+ hours a day professional developer more productive on atom.io (latest) than on a buggy sublime text 3
Re:Lime Text: Open Source Sublime Text clone on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @08:31AM (#8196943)
You can use it on linux! It's really fine on my setup.
Re:Lime Text: Open Source Sublime Text clone on Tuesday August 19, 2014 @07:59AM (#8196853)
Just for information. I was using sublimeText 3. I updated two weeks ago the last release (Build 3059) and even (Build 3062) and it crashes.. since I don't want to bother using a close thing that crashes. I switched to atom.io And so far It's way better than three months ago (It's now fast enough) And It's really getting traction on the plugin side also.. I don't think I'll ever come back to sublimetext. I even went back to emacs for one week.

At the end, we can't talk about exponential or linear growth. We have no 'mesure' for scientific advance. and we need mesure for mesuring something. Or maybe somes exist but I'm not... okay so I googled it before posting some stupid stuff: It seems that there's no 'real' mesure.. scientific paper to prove it: http://www.springerlink.com/content/m1h2150x02u153x3/

I saw some mistakes in the french version, I switched back to english once I realized it wasn't the original language. It tooked me two paragraphs to notice it. (I'm a native french speaker.) I thought you would like to know that :) !! Great article. Thanks!
Re:Earth may be headed into a mini Ice Age within a decade on Wednesday June 15, 2011 @08:27AM (#2656787)
Maybe nobody will read my comment since I'm a bit late but anyway: It seems like nobody talked about the implication of the diminution of the solar magnetic field.

If I remember correctly, the solar magnetic field (SMF) is held responsible ’not entirely, earth's GM too and other things’ for deflecting galactic cosmic rays. What are the consequences of the current diminution of the SMF?

Looks like it will be better for space travel..(the article says) and how is that? Solar storm > Cosmis ray?

Excuse me but seems to me like it's the other way around: "The storms actually improved the radiation environment inside the station." via (http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2005/07...)

What are you views on the subject? I don't know what to think anymore.

Re:From 15 to 55,000: A 24 hour experiment on the App Store on Wednesday April 06, 2011 @05:56AM (#2414506)
Maybe it's because there's more than 1 million iPhones in France? (1 out of 6 persons, currently more than 60 percent of peoples around me own an iPhone). I'm not aware of any gift-giving holiday (and I'm french). The only reason I can come up with is that the internet/connected french community is very strong, hence knowledge such as "this app is awesome and free" can spread very fast.

I just looked at the user's review on the appstore, and the rating is very high. There's even 5 stars with comments like: When will the french version be available? (It was written in french. I did the translation)

There's no french interface and It doesn't seem to really bother users, it could be a plus though.

I don't think dead tissues are emitting any magnetic flux. I'm not sure though, but it seems obvious. #trivial
