That’s a political problem not a scientific problem.

No one wants to tax rich people who are of the age to have benefited from an era of high taxes. We let them pull the ladder up behind them.

There is no real reason to follow their orders or coddle their sensibilities. What are they going to do? Instigate a civil war from their Lay Z Boy? 60-70% of the population want to reverse their political policies across the spectrum of contexts. Just do it.

They can get download records from Google or Apple to check for Signal downloads.

So there’s really no reason for Signal to try and hide one is merely using Signal. Best to focus on securing content.

When was it easy? So much early discovery has been binned or replaced; easy answers were wrong. It took hundreds of years of effort to bubble up relativity and information theory.

When was this golden age in the past when the world was magically easier and “better”? I see complaints about social media brainwashing people but what is religion and nation state populism?

I have a hard time taking contemporary opinions on “life is getting harder” seriously or sincerely. It’s just another clickbait trope.

Language support varies but if it’s possible, why not generate an AST and count references, bubble up most common, etc?

Could do similar with bash text mangling tools, but language native would probably be best.

I dunno, just a thought in an EOD fog. I don’t own a printer these days, so I guess I’d need an alternative.

Tell computer to observe self and report back.

They juiced the market to keep people hiring during COVID but now all those workers need to go back to their lower prestige and gig jobs.

The are too many numerate people now to boondoggle. The story the moneyed economists quantify is distilled as “humans do this.”

That there is a model of haves and have nots curated by haves is political theater, not free market economics.

What the Fed wants is more gig worker insecurity as usual: https://www.nytimes.com/1997/02/27/business/job-insecurity-o...

Perhaps you should slow down.

Adam Smith warned of extreme division of labor making for humans dumber than the dumbest animal (paraphrasing).

Sticking with one career forever is an outdated story; king says someone is farmer, that’s just how it is! It would be costly to upend history, they say.

Having worked in a kitchen, built houses from foundation up, helped deliver livestock, started in tech designing power switching equipment, coding professional now since 2006; having built muscle memory for numerous “professions” comes along with living in “flow state.” I can manage structured tasks across contexts without planning, without wincing at the difficulty or time being a factor; I can make way better than packaged or fast food faster than it can be picked up or delivered.

Taking time to boot strap the habit pays off in time savings down the road.

Fed policy has long been to grow worker insecurity: https://www.nytimes.com/1997/02/27/business/job-insecurity-o...
