http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/research/dtg/android/mock/ is a neat way to stop applications asking for too many permissions getting what they want. It'd be nice if it were being maintained somewhere/possibly pulled into CyanogenMod.
What are you going to plug all the gamepads into then?
Re:Rel="logo" (2011) on Sunday February 10, 2013 @07:37PM (#5198656)
Yes but the point there was that sites had motivation to misrepresent their content. What motivation could you have to misrepresent your logo?

I don't think it's that bad, probably because I quite like the aesthetic, but it really could do with being just a little bit less busy.
Reddit gold is a freemium model, not donations. Are Conde Nast meant to continually bankroll something that doesn't generate profit?

Second wave feminists decided that that word in particular was bad no matter the context.

Because it stems a flow of twitter posts?

Stalk-ey favours? Those are the only type I could think I would ever make to Facebook employees. (Yes I know what this says about me.)

I think one of the differences with Methamphetamine is that it can and generally is smoked which gives a much quicker onset and rush which makes it more addictive.
Re:Factorization diagrams in Haskell on Sunday October 07, 2012 @01:10AM (#4622686)
I feel like expanding that set a little is really only a matter of picking a more distinctive arrangement than a circle. Like 11 would be more readable as 3 vertical lines of 4, then 3, then 4 again. Just varying the shape a little would go a long way towards making them more readable, and you could still fall back to a circle for larger primes.

>esoteric open source architectures with no applications in the real world

Why does an open source architecture have to be esoteric? It could just as easily be conventional. We don't know for sure that ARM will be as popular in the future. Presumably aim isn't to teach individual intricacies but rather the overall concepts.

Any actual benchmarks?

Laying out the buttons in the same way as the controller and the groups in a circle rather than a square must help quite a bit.
Re:Modeling Physics in Javascript: Gravity and Drag on Saturday September 08, 2012 @07:39AM (#4492783)
Why would you post a link to an example using floats then? I mean sure, part of the trick involves treating the float as an integer but the number is still meant to be interpreted as a float.

Your assumptions about speed might be true for something like a Nintendo DS which doesn't have a floating point unit but a 3DS does, a vectorised one no less. Also in Javascript integers that can fit into 32 bits are actually integers nowadays.

All in all, I believe your information is outdated.

Looks like this is as close as you'll get for now: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~stratagus/stratagus/trunk/files...

ETA: Just remembered. They open source 7 Kingdoms a few years back so you can find out what the code from a commercial RTS looks like. http://www.7kfans.com/wiki/index.php/Download

Well in that case I apologise for my countrymen I suppose.
I think that's an unfair characterisation of public opinion of the Euro "experiment". (North America did federated states a while back though, remember?) I mean maybe if you get all your information from the Daily Mail. Definitely got the scare quotes and odd wording going. Yes, there are groups that are opposed to it, although the most vocal all to often are later revealed to be complete bigots, but there are many groups in favour. It helps that even though there are poorer and richer member states the wealth and employment gap isn't that large. Certainly it's smaller than between Honduras and US immigrants. The common currency has been much more of a problem.
Re:Introducing the 4chan API on Thursday September 06, 2012 @02:55AM (#4483143)
While you clearly pulled that percentage out of nowhere I would agree it's probably not too far off. While it's fair to call it bisexuality, it might be more accurate to simply label it sexual opportunism.

Re:Best Open Python Books on Sunday August 26, 2012 @04:47PM (#4436168)
From what I remember there's a heavy xml processing bias, the python isn't that idiomatic (partially due to new features being introduced since its publishing date) and the libraries used for particular tasks aren't the best. Most of its problems stem from it being dated. I think Mark Pilgrim is a good author and teacher though, and even now this might make up for its faults to a degree.
Re:Counterintuitive: Did Samsung emerge a winner? on Saturday August 25, 2012 @01:41PM (#4432637)
Because of the chilling effect on design or because there are less and less handset manufacturers? Or another reason? Please don't vaguebook me.
It's hard to collect royalties from individual users.
With friends like those, who needs COINTELPRO?
It's actually quite a good film if you ignore the character assassination of Zuckerberg (not that he really needs defending, just it seems a little cheap).
Re:HTML 5 gets forked up on Monday July 23, 2012 @08:04AM (#4280527)
Yes, but apart from good specs fixed in stone, XML, XSLT and WCAG, what have the W3C ever done for us?

(It was a Monty Python reference.)
