It's yet another Bing white label

I'd imagine they want to do price segmentation. Sell the best model for $50k a year to corporations willing to pay full price, keep the rest of us on a lower tier. Gotta pay for that infra somehow.
It's a good start. Would be nice to add a gradually increasing tax on multiple home purchases, e.g. buying a third home has a 5% tax, 4th 15% tax, fifth 25%, and if you want a sixth home you have to build it yourself. Would prevent regular people from buying up dozens of homes to rent.

Statistically, we're most likely to be born when the world population is at its peak.

Unnoticable meaning doesn't have any effect at all, or just no bad side effects?

In our case, sold to the bidder who gave kickbacks to the district supervisor.
Search "chili recipes" on bing. Now search kagi or any other alternative search engine. They all show the exact same recipes because they're using the bing API.
Which uses Bing as its primary index
There's really only one alternative, Bing. Virtually all the other western search engines are using the Bing api, and just slightly modify the results.
What would you recommend for billions of embeddings?

I've owned Ford stock for 10 years, I think I'll finally sell it today

Would you be willing to share more about how you guys did click ranking at Blekko? It's an interesting problem.
Re:TikTok says it is restoring service for U.S. users on Sunday January 19, 2025 @01:28PM (#42759929)
"The law banning TikTok, which was scheduled to go into effect Sunday, allows the president to grant a 90-day extension before the ban is enforced, provided certain criteria are met"

Sounds like they're operating within the law

They're literally scraping Google on the backend and returning the results to the user as if they invented a new search engine. The links are exactly identical to Google's, in the same order.
It's just scraping Google. The results are identical to Google's.
Looks like it just scrapes Google. Hacker news gets one of these every two weeks.
Re:Missiles Are Now the Biggest Killer of Airline Passengers on Friday December 27, 2024 @03:40PM (#42525843)
From the Korean air incident: "As a result of the incident...President Ronald Reagan issued a directive making American satellite-based radio navigation Global Positioning System freely available for civilian use, once it was sufficiently developed, as a common good."

My bad couldn't find it. Mods you can delete this post.

I think some country has developed some very cool drones with non-traditional propulsion. I'm imagining gyroscopes inside mounted on gimbals, and when pressure is applied to the gyroscopes they cause the spheres to spin and bend through the air like a ping pong ball, but in a controlled fashion. The spheres are supposed to be 3-6m wide, so filled with helium could have enough lift to counterbalance 50 pounds of equipment.

The article you linked doesn't say anything about 100 petabytes
Re:Two Upstart Search Engines Are Teaming Up to Take on Google on Wednesday November 13, 2024 @10:19AM (#42126762)
Imo you need to do all of this, plus be compelling different. Nobody is going to beat Google playing Google's game.
Sous vide machines are like $40. No more tough steaks.
Re:Bots, so many bots on Tuesday October 01, 2024 @06:29PM (#41714961)
Does that really work? I'm trying to build a site with upvotes--wouldn't it be really easy for someone with 100 bought Google accounts to make 100 accounts on my site?
Re:Bots, so many bots on Tuesday October 01, 2024 @04:31PM (#41713770)
Why not require a non-voip phone number instead of passport?
Re:Bots, so many bots on Tuesday October 01, 2024 @04:13PM (#41713587)
What's best practice for preventing bot abuse, for mere mortal developers? Would requiring a non-voip phone number at registration be effective?

I can already see Matt Levine's column: if someone places secret recorders at Starbucks and leaks the transcript to the internet, is it insider trading?

Rollercoaster is one of my favorite answers to the game 20 questions for this reason.

A Will Smith movie called ride or die came out in May and grossed $400M. Probably explains the jump in that phrase. I had heard it before but you only hear that phrase every couple years or so.
