Re:Three Ways to Get Paid (2018) on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @03:02PM (#48374683)
It's relatively not
Where does it end? What if it hallucinates you robbing an old lady but you just walked past her? Have fun getting swarmed and dragged away. Etc. when will it be used to frame political dissidents?
Re:Three Ways to Get Paid (2018) on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @02:39PM (#48374363)
What a bunch of complete sociopathic crap this is
Re:Three Ways to Get Paid (2018) on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @02:37PM (#48374338)
"Time is coming"? Pretty sure this always happened
Re:Three Ways to Get Paid (2018) on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @02:33PM (#48374291)
I think they meant "fount" of wisdom
"Free market" and "entrepreneur spirit" fetishism and fear of collective social action against individual drives.
Re:What Young Workers Are Doing to AI-Proof Themselves on Monday March 23, 2026 @11:35AM (#47490941)
Maybe if college degrees are not so valuable anymore, then school will become cheaper and this will allow more people to go to school. I would hate to live in a world where everyone is a plumber. Nothing against plumbers, but being human is more than unclogging drain pipes and installing toilets, and the one place where humanity's definitions are concentrated most intensely is the university.
That's because in authoritarianism it's all already eroded.
I don't understand the "silly" part. Classic lit is amazing and also good for you. I am a late comer to it as well and I'm so glad that I have discovered it. I am finishing Ulysses now and it absolutely rocks.

"TDS" is not a real thing, you clown. Grow up.

This is the letters on Russian tanks in Ukraine. Sign of marauders and thieves.
Re:Where's the AI Design Renaissance? on Friday October 24, 2025 @11:55AM (#45695909)
That's not what "renaissance" means
Re:TikTok won. Now everything is 60 seconds on Wednesday September 10, 2025 @03:25PM (#45202442)
It's basically television^1000. TV was also constantly criticized for reducing critical thinking skills and championing mediocrity. Douglas Adams put it best of course: "the future is the same old stuff with faster cars"
Re:'Block Everything' protests sweep across France, scores arrested on Wednesday September 10, 2025 @03:13PM (#45202307)
Just redistribute the resources, cap prices and let the economy prop up itself. The rich have to give it up for sake of stability and greater good. I'm sure they will understand lol
The numbers will be the same they ever were, as compiled by the usual statistics in place for decades: completely insignificant.
Re:What Were the Earliest Laws Like? on Monday July 21, 2025 @11:40AM (#44636507)
Laws are many things and one of those things is a concern for justice. As far self-perpetuation of the state, yes this is how a state operates. This is the nature of it. As for "the government," what is it? It's not a monolithic thing that you can just point your finger to. It depends on the nature and character of the citizens and the established customs of the nation, of which laws are a part. If we're talking about ancient Mesopotamia, then this is probably a tyrannical aspect. But there are many types of governments and constitutions. This dismissive attitude for "the government" is really not a productive or even practical mentality.
Re:The Silicon Valley push to breed super-babies on Wednesday July 16, 2025 @11:46AM (#44583577)
What's the point of these superbabies if their brains are going to be full of plastic anyway?
Re:Everything Is Ghibli on Tuesday April 01, 2025 @12:10PM (#43548485)
The obtuseness and the soullessness of the user excited by this trick is what is most sad about this situation. "Look at me, I'm a cartoon!" speaks of the arrested development and some kind of a consciousness stunted by some autistic juvenescence prevalent in modern people. This pupa is really excited about living, I suppose.
Re:The Demoralization is just Beginning on Tuesday March 11, 2025 @03:22PM (#43336073)
The baseline theory of the state is exhausted. It's like figuring out how to build a car. We have all the ideas already, and the little innovative improvements are the cherries on top. We have quite a few modern political thinkers as well as ancient ones, not victors, but real critical thinkers and historians. As far as communication problem, yeah you may be right, but this is a problem of implementation, not architecture.

And come on, "Galadriel" and some mythical pharaoh? This is your argument-viable examples? I think a little too much fantasy is overtaking your thoughts; you might want to switch to non-fiction for a few months to balance yourself out.

Re:The Demoralization is just Beginning on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @04:35PM (#43272849)
What a ridiculous statement. Any dictatorship is a subpar expression of a state. We don't have to figure out the best government. We already have all kinds of ideas about this collected from millennia of thought on this subject. We just have to study and bring it into reality.
Re:The Demoralization is just Beginning on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @11:52AM (#43269122)
Plenty of authoritarian countries that have been economic disasters.
Re:U.S. Pauses All Military Aid to Ukraine on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @11:32AM (#43268813)
Everyone knows when it ends. It ends when Putin ends.
Re:Trump administration to fire thousands at health agencies on Friday February 14, 2025 @01:23PM (#43051386)
We going through some crisis and trauma right now, if you haven't noticed. It's bound to spill to this board. Thank you for your patience
Re:Trump administration to fire thousands at health agencies on Friday February 14, 2025 @01:13PM (#43051271)
How is this a "partisan" article? Looks like a regular news piece to me.
This name makes zero sense and is entirely stupid. Something like a gulf is named for its proximity to the immediate geographic body to identify it with increased precision. It's like calling the Mississippi River "America River." This is clear pandering to Trump voting base that sees anything labelled "America" as belonging to them and part of their moronic culture. It also reliably speaks to racist and supremacist mentalities and to stir shit up and get people mad about it. It's old tricks.
Re:Meta Wants More AI Bots on Facebook and Instagram on Thursday January 02, 2025 @01:03PM (#42576865)
Yes, you can make your own fake money now. Are you from around here?
Re:Meta Wants More AI Bots on Facebook and Instagram on Thursday January 02, 2025 @12:24PM (#42576409)
So this is basically the bitcoin of social media engagement? I don't have any followers, I will just make some? Who's to say they're not real followers? What is this "real" anyway?
Re:Kids Can't Read Books on Wednesday November 20, 2024 @11:52AM (#42195801)
You're blaming the teachers? That's a nice tactic. Also, YAL is taught widely.
Re:Peak population may be coming sooner than we think on Monday November 11, 2024 @11:26AM (#42108307)
It's amazing how you all are so smug and arrogant about being wrong. It's just mind boggling.
Re:Why Is the Speed of Light So Fast? (Part 1) on Friday October 04, 2024 @11:49AM (#41742639)
We are trying to speed everything up all the time and speed is seen as a virtue and something desirable. Could it be that we are trying subconsciously on a collective scale to get close to the natural state of the universe?
