havent had a hangover in close to a decade doing this.

that's because that answer is for how to find unique values in an array. it works as intended with any duplicates, stacksort just chose an answer that wasnt only sorting

not exactly what you're looking for but kind of close

It seems to me this article starts from both an untested speculative hypothesis (infinite multiverse), mixes in some poor theology, and then just babbles on from that point.

There's usenet, and importantly another layer, plex. the future is some people downloading everything and all their friends using their plex
America was born, nay, torn out of a monarchy

when independence was our declaration conveyance

it formed a republic with a twist of democracy

power to the people's voice was it's purveyance

today the people blindly march toward oligarchy

as we for free products provide our own surveillance

and I long for the future Just and Loving theocracy

When those in Christ know God fully in unveiled valence.

Given what facebook is and has done, why wouldn't you be suspicious that there is a hidden reason that is beneficial to facebook.

I can see a new zuck quote now... 'i asked them for nudes and those idiots just gave them to me'

Re:A look back: The Bloomberg Keyboard (2017) on Wednesday May 16, 2018 @11:57AM (#17083408)
unfortunately MacOS has a lot of keyboard shortcuts that are different depending on what application you're in (vs windows)

also there's a lot of annoying little things - if i'm typing in one space, and switch spaces, my typing cursor is still off the screen until i bring an app in the current space in focus

you can still do it, but there's a lot more context-specific stuff to be a keyboard poweruser on MacOS vs windows/linux

this assumes the entire deck being dealt, which is really rare

fair point ;)

To be fair (edit: figuratively, to state a favorable viewpoint on Elon's decisiont to give more time to one person) he was asking excellent/interesting/challenging questions and it was really interesting to me to hear Elon's answers.

I think Elon might have done well to be less brusque with the more run of the mill questions but I really enjoyed listing to the long exchange there

70%+ is probably accurate if you include the whole microsoft enterprise ecosystem (sharepoint etc in addition to what you mentioned)

windows is definitely a minority in web hosting

Re:The Quest for the Next Billion-Dollar Color on Monday April 30, 2018 @05:21PM (#16962475)
As Paul put it in Romans:

>For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Thank God for Christ, to redeem us from our lack of thanks and honor to God!

>To all the people who've made my world possible, I apologize for my apathy, and I'll do better.

my comment is quite directly related to this expression by OP

>but this comment is a reason why religion is not useful. This reply could be used as a response to any comment and adds nothing useful at all.

this is fallacious reasoning. Particularly affirming the consequent to my eyes (If religion is useless, religious comments are useless. this religious comment is useless, therefore religion is useless)

I'm not sure you understand the specificity of the mosaic hygienic laws to which I'm referring, but a bit of research into the knowledge of the time coupled with a close look at the high level of detail given in the law shows that no, human origin is not the more rational conclusion. There's a LOT more going on than 'dont eat certain foods'

>It seems that the grandparent comment is starting from the premise that god exists and looking for evidence to support the conclusion they already hold.

it seems that you are assuming anything affirming God must be irrational and therefore state that I must be approaching this irrationally.

I encourage anyone who finds the concept interesting to check out this book:

https://www.amazon.com/None-These-Diseases-McMillen-MD/dp/05...

This is tangental but, incidentally, the hygienic laws of the Jewish people encompass far more than just not eating pork, and most of the wisdom in obeying those laws for health reasons far surpasses any knowledge at the time.

Some modern physicians wrote a book about this called 'None of these diseases'

https://www.amazon.com/None-These-Diseases-S-McMillen/dp/080...

To me the rational conclusion given the information above is that those laws really did come from a source of knowledge higher than the totality of human knowledge at the time.

As a Christian, this is kind of the reason I'm so glad for Justification before God by faith in Christ alone and not by works.

I've never for a moment given God all the thanks he deserves for what He's given me. Color is one easy example - what a wonderful, beautiful gift that I've not thanked Him for, for the vast majority of my life. I constantly fall short of giving Him the honor he deserves.

>The Obama DOJ saw fit to fine ZTE 1.2 billion as part of the plea deal. So the conduct was serious.

this presupposes that punishments fit crimes for corporations in our country, and that there isn't rampant partiality

See the separate events in the last decade or so with major players getting minuscule punishments: Goldman Sachs et al, BOA, HSBC, Wells Fargo, etc etc

any major players? entire healthcare industry is married to microsoft, at least the big names. same for lots of major enterprises that i know of

Re:The End of Windows on Monday April 02, 2018 @10:08AM (#16734557)
I know I'm in a minority here, but having used every windows since 3.1, IMO windows 7 was the absolute pinnacle of windows design, and from a ux perspective I think the best desktop os period (could still be improved, there's definitely individual features that are better in other OSes). I really wish they had stuck with the UX/design and mostly just improved performance/added useful stuff rather than throw it all out and start over.
in that case wouldnt the bus would necessarily need to cross traffic to get to and from a stop? and traffic would have to cross the bus lane to make turns?
Re:What Teenagers Are Learning from Online Porn on Wednesday February 07, 2018 @12:29PM (#16326225)
the puritanical value isnt 'sex is evil'

the puritanical value is 'sex should be enjoyed in marriage, monogamously'

pornography is harmful to our brains, many studies have shown this.

plenty of studies also show that people who have fewer sexual partners are ultimately happier in their sex life.

and it doesnt take much thought to see that STDs would spread much more slowly if people were monogamous.

lots of good things come from that value. on the inverse, the 'have sex as much as you want' mentality leads to unplanned pregnancies/killing unborn babies, devaluation of the gift of sex, and spread of disease. but hey, you get to have 'lots of fun' so is it worth it?

sex and money are the greatest idols in our society, and the worship of either does not yield good things.

Re:What Teenagers Are Learning from Online Porn on Wednesday February 07, 2018 @12:25PM (#16326194)
plenty of recent studies show that pornography use is manifestly harmful to our brains, especially developing brains. Cursory searching yielded these articles, but there are many studies to be found.

http://yournewswire.com/this-is-how-pornography-addiction-is...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2642712/Does-...

https://www.menshealth.com/sex-women/porn-debate/

Pornography is a harmful drug and can have many of the same psychological and physiological effects as other addictive substances.

>life is more than a constant quest for more and more intense pleasure

for many, it's not. We are designed to seek pleasure, so many make that their highest goal.

But nothing in this world can provide true and lasting pleasure, only God can.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

>What is going to stop something like this occuring again? Officers going to jail?

wrongdoings by officers are mostly handled internally with administrative leave aka paid vacation
