Holos[1] is an interesting project I’ve been looking at trying out.

Any testflight link?
What about the storage? Is it using Raid? Does blocksize matter? What filsystem is used?

I also look for github links, especially for sysadmins, it can give an insight of how they solve things. Bonus points for pull requests.

However, if the person doesn't have a profile, or an inactive one, I don't put any weight on it, it's more an alternative way instead of asking interview questions for me.

Re:I built a receipt printer for GitHub issues on Friday March 25, 2022 @06:27PM (#30807602)
Fujitsu fp-2200 can print 400mm/s, it's quite mind boggling how fast the paper comes out :)

Also if you hold feed while power on you get a interactive menu, printed on paper. Probably works on Epson printers also

Re:M1 Ultra Geekbench Score on Tuesday March 08, 2022 @06:26PM (#30608794)
If it's real it does make sense, same single core score and double multicore compared to m1 max

Source? Since 2009 I probably had 8 iPhones or so, never seen or heard about any adapter

Wait until he finds out about /dev/tcp :)

It actually blew my mind after doing Linux for 10 years. "Everything is a file" isn't a lie.

For anyone into packaging and building software I can really recommend SUSEs open build service, https://openbuildservice.org

It's really powerful.

Checkout what opensuse is currently building here; https://build.opensuse.org/monitor

If you package software you for sure can get tired of it :)

But I would never switch to Deb, that's just a pain.

Had the same suspicion when the order to install Splunk everywhere came from above. We already had central logging for years... No reason was given. Just. Do. It.
Re:In Stockholm there's currently an IT battle underway on Saturday March 27, 2021 @07:27AM (#26601523)
Not really sure what this platform contains, a backend, a site and an app?

It sounds like if I would get 1% of the price to build this, I would laugh all the way to the bank.

Did you record the difference in battery life before/after the eink monitor?

Re:Huawei Tops Intel as Top Linux Kernel Contributor for 5.10 on Wednesday January 06, 2021 @01:10PM (#25660420)
There is a rumor here that Huawei approaches key personal of competitors and offers to match the salary + 12000usd/month (which alone is probably more than 90% make)

Re:Keycloak: Open-source identity and access management on Tuesday April 14, 2020 @08:07PM (#22872972)
Can someone recommend a product (open source) that supports: * ldap * multiple password hashes per person, or some other way to keep different hash-functions of the password ( ldap supports this) * saml/shibboleth or openid connect (preferably both) * export all users and password hashes (I guess ldap supports this natively)

Want to replace a legacy openldap installation with something more modern and future proof, but need to keep supporting a couple of old systems that won't go away for a long time.

Also denied the Norwegian king entrance when fleeing Norway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haakon_VII_of_Norway)

The Red Cross busses also transported prisoners in exchange for the Scandinian ones. Iirc the Swedish government also send a letter stating to rescue the Jews last. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Buses)

Strategic, rather than neutral I would call it.

Teleport often pops up in my search for replacing a home built rbac system that powers 30k machines. Must say it rings some warning bells when there no price info available, not sure I would even want to know.
Re:Configuring Ansible on Tuesday November 19, 2019 @07:21PM (#21579906)
Also interested in this, we have a fairly large setup and always interesting to see how others use it.

Especially around Vault, it never really clicked for me, I fail to see how it helps most of the times, if a user can trigger X that will generate a key on the fly, what prevents a hacker from doing the same, etc...

Re:ProtonMail iOS app goes open source on Thursday October 31, 2019 @05:34PM (#21413920)
Can someone break down what makes up the 91MB this app weights in at? Since its 94% swift I'm a bit surprised
