Re:US threatens Europe over Starlink restrictions on Sunday October 18, 2026 @04:06PM (#50144928)
The idea of a drug addicted undocumented immigrant being in charge of our space program and sat comms does seem incredibly unwise.

This feels like a villain's reasoning, and I'm kind of astounded he's just saying it out loud.

In my twenty years of being a netizen I have never been more concerned about the future of computing. Giving a handful of incredibly shady corporations humanity's future seems really unwise.

Re:Florida asks for order to halt ChatGPT development on Monday September 28, 2026 @06:07PM (#49885127)
The politician using twitter, which has (and I'm going to try to state this as neutrally as possible) a free public AI-powered CSAM generator, to decry OpenAI for going too far, is the kind of sublime absurdity that would be impossible to explain to someone in the 2010s.
Finding the hidden "leopards ate MY face!?" in 2026's news stories has become my latest hobby.
My bank can support my phone or accept that I'm going to come waste their time in person, I'm not backing down here.
Re:Why People Are Sabotaging Flock Surveillance Cameras on Saturday September 19, 2026 @01:28AM (#49763609)
Right, let's just ignore multiple instances of city councils receiving hours of impassioned speeches from constituents then unanimously voting against the will of the people.

Yay cloudflare!
I'll tolerate that but that new QR recaptcha that wants a selfie is 'hell fucking no' from me 100% of the time.
Re:The Palm Pre Is the Reason You Love Your Phone (2009) [video] on Thursday September 10, 2026 @06:56PM (#49651256)
Had a palm pre, loved it. Simpler times.
Re:Meta Failed to Catch Hundreds of AI Child Abuse Ads on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @05:30PM (#49617348)
Wasn't the entire premise of the modern digital panopticon to stop exactly this kind of stuff?
I wonder what this is a distraction from...
Yeah, I don't trust Epstein's party pal's take on this.
So is k3 on openrouter the current meta?
Re:Rant/Help Google auto-account bans are insane on Tuesday August 11, 2026 @01:49PM (#49261888)
I've been warning my boss that we need to stop using google for our work email accounts because of exactly shit like this. Not looking forwards to the inevitable "I told you so".
Re:The Cost of China's Free A.I on Saturday August 01, 2026 @01:55AM (#49131454)
I'm probably misremembering but I'm nostalgic for when it felt like propaganda at least put in a modicum of effort.
Have exempted smaller models so far. Seems like they're trying to soft-launch then tighten the ratchet, and I'd be willing to accept that this is a cynical view if this hasn't been the modus operandi for a while now. See EA/Sony/etc. continually trying to find a way to get their foot in the "always online, you're just renting the game" door.

Paywall on this one.
It's all the terrible parts of the Cyberpunk universe, headline after headline. It's glib but I also don't have a better way to express this feeling as someone who's spent twenty years on the net in one form or another. I don't want to become numb to it, but I'm also running out of ways to say "what the fuck, this is ridiculous".
Yup, I'm in 30s and have been ID'd for every show I've gone to in the last few years.
Paywall.
Re:The century-old device choking the AI push on Thursday July 09, 2026 @03:44PM (#48851420)

Re:Flock CEO: People Don't Dislike Us, They Dislike Trump on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @02:11PM (#48835272)
No, mister Flock CEO, I assure you, we dislike your company and anyone choosing to do the repugnant and unconstitutional job you do.
