i.e. technology wont solve all our problems. Sorry if this insulted your intelect.
Talking with people on the Phone is social media too then.
I agree it needs a definition and its no easy limes to draw, but id put it around algorithmic infinite feed recommender systems.
HN has no recommender system so I dont count it in. For me, its a forum. Plain, sometimes boring and often deep & rich.
Perfection doesnt exist - technology will never free us from the human condition & constant struggles...
Youre absolutely right. The fascist and de humanizing content might just as well be hallucinated. /s
An email states wishes to make hand bag leather from refuge skin.
But yeah, the leak basically reports forks found in a kitchen, nothing new.
A corporation so big it starts doing the job of the collective / state - interesting, whos job are they taking here? Why not pay taxes and let us, the people decide how to use it instead?
Im not surprised, the Plattforms have 0 interest in kids not accessing. If they could make money from this i would bet my left Hand 99.5% of kids would not manage to enter.
FaceID works pretty good. I dont see any law of physics / math forbidding a proper biometric, privacy compliant age filter to work at scale.

What? Heat kills both, sulphur pollution damages both. Its all connected, always..
Was this vibecoded? I hope so, would expect models to be good enough by now, its not that creative.
Yes it is still true. Sulphur is one element only that got regulated - petrol on its own is a soup of different hydrocarbons - various chains & lenghts - every one has specific burn characteristics and optimal conditions to burn.
Using this thick soup thats close to coal, the process of burning is always far from optimal for most of them. Thus black sud gets emitted - basically unburned carbon - a huge waste financially but also ecologically as its comparable to cigarette Fumes regarding unhealthy compounds. Plus fine particle dust. Chances its toxic for marine life are huge.
Those are all externalized costs no one of the polluters pays for besides the collective life on this planet.
How can this be fair?
“This was a time of huge levels of creativity and competition,” he said. “If you didn’t innovate with the latest psychoactives, you were left behind.”
Why does this sound familiar? Silicon Valley, microdosing, everyone trying to be creative in finding best applications for AI (more or less creative, I must flag here)
Guess history repeats itself.
fun fact - "drug" - german "droge" originally means "dried plant" - e.g. herbs, teas etc
> What's hilarious is having reported an ad to Facebook, they show you that ad more because you didn't longer looking at it. Mad.
Which emotions does this bring up? For me its hate.
fostering hate is what these places mastered.
The data is clear - it skyrockets engagement and time-spent.
The question is if we want this as a society? I mean, they dont even tax any of the "earnings" aka "mental-health-money"
"just trust the llm bro, it will figure it out" - no brains used here, its staggering...
And if youre a high income tech worker you can do this magic yourself. The difference in the trading account is not noticable but the memory of the great feeling of helping & giving remains. 1k is a lot for most people!

Most agricultural subsidies flow towards those harmful animal products, giving alternatives a fair treatment with subsidies could induce a meaningful shift already. But again - political and thus hard on a non technical level
4. Manage the Nitrogen Cycle
Easy solution - eat less products that pass an animal first - reduces nitrogen pollution by 10x intantly, low tech.
I'd re-formulate: 4. Make people more flexible to changing their mindsets & habits - this is the ultimate problem.
Imagine, starts much earlier, everyone has a birth certificate. /s
Buddhism is agnostic and non dogmatic in its foundation, pretty clean overall
Shovel manufacturer says everyone should get access to a shovel, even for picking apples. I see, nothing new in the west today.
Make it nerdy enough to scare of agentic coders only. Also, blackjack and hookers are said to be helpful in such circumstances.
Good point - its not a previously inexistent mechanism - but AI leverages it even more. A russian troll can put out 10x more content with automation. Genuine counter-movements (e.g. grassroot preferences) might not be as leveraged, causing the system to be more heavily influenced by the clearly pursued goals (which are often malicious)
Finally someone who understands me. Whatever becomes measurable, becomes controllable, which is the antidote to freedom, wildness, life (to some extent)..
Captcha: "do something stupid"
Ai: visible discomfort
Youre right, its a though question. Then again free will and the concept of "self" is an illusion.
Lets see where the world will go in this regard, only time will tell
Just a question how content is produced & ingested.
Utopian fantasy: interact with the ai - novel findings are registered as such and "saved" and made available to others.
Creative ideas are registered as such, if possible, theyre tested in "side quests" ie the ai asks - do you have 5min to try this? You unblock yourself if it works & see in the future how many others profited as well (3k people read this finding).
Its all a logistics question
Its implict by the context. The co text is SOTA fusion research. One can never fully define everything.
I did a 10 day insight-meditation retreat and experienced how pain is triggered by the mind first hand.
This is impressive to me and id be curious what your perspective is
Same for cars - you require a global functioning gas supply network to work & deliver gas nearby, it consists of 10k parts produced over the globe - a single pandemic can wipe everything out. Thats why I prefer a horse. Theres always gras nearby.
I also hate apps for everything & want us to be free & have a simple world & life - I love the terminal & its 55 years old.. yeah, we have much in common friend
