News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

gnarlouse

I honestly kind of disagree. Maybe a more accurate take these days is we still have to engineer the assembly line harness that engineers the system. "KISS" is turning out to be a surprisingly good nudge token to throw at Claude Code.
Can somebody explain "share of each sides opinions" as a statistic? Why am I solving a riddle to read an article?
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:26AM (#50245386)
Come to think of it, if an ASI figures out how to crack biology, genetic diversity may not even need to come from a giant human population.
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:24AM (#50245342)
Because pending an absolute loss of control of a super intelligent model, the ultra wealthy have enough control of the matter on Earth to merge with the AI, probably.
Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @10:11AM (#50244034)
I mean there are a lot of paradoxes around AI. The chief two among which are:

1. the goal of ai is to end capitalism by disrupting scarcity in economics

2. if ai can build a closed system that prints ai factories, the 99% of humanity essentially are just genetic diversity live stock.

Honestly: our media and film is largely pretty terrible. The arts may be worth a lament.
Honestly: fuck these people. In the span of a demo they have dogwhistled the market to:

- Build advertising on their platform.

- Build AI girlfriends on their platform.

Gross. I mean it's not like the market isn't already thinking of doing that, it's not a leap of a conclusion. Just kind of gross to be on the nose about it with the content and choice of demos.

Who even cares let this dumpsterf*k company die of its own greedy accord Disney hasn't been worth a cent of mental energy in a long time. Adieu.

The Buddhist in my sees karmic transference from humanity to AI models.

I am reminded of Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark, and the Omega Team's later shenanigans in stoking a unified world order:

- Claiming control of all the news outlets

- Pushing a common narrative among all of them, pushing everybody towards basically centrism, de-escalation and a mixture of capitalism and social responsibility.

Re:The Dock on Mac, from OS 10 to macOS 27 on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @07:31PM (#50080428)
I think the death of Apple (and the birth of modern Apple) was iOS 7. Skeuomorphism, Steve Jobs being freshly deceased (RIP). The UI looked and felt like an undergraduate design project. The minimalism was pretentious and out of touch, and it's only gotten worse in my opinion.

intercom systems were pretty ubiquitous in the 90's and 00's...

Honestly, you're right.

My only feedback is $49 for AI slop feels like extortion at best, and delusion at worst. Don't give up building stuff, we should all be using AI to build ideas because the cost of developing them has dropped substantially. We should not be using them, however, to grift one another.

If you flip "dots" over, it kind of looks like "stop" which is precisely how I feel about this project.

Re:Ask HN: What're You Reading? on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @08:06PM (#49902593)
I enjoyed the book, but I "read" it on Audible which was possibly not the ideal experience. It was kind of fun though, they had static crackling for all the redacted bits.

At least capitalism isn't at the center of the most impactful technological revolution in human history.
Does that mean Verbesserschlimmung is "improving things for nothing" because the same can be said of AI.
