"Cryptocurrency is designed specifically, by virtue of its decentralized and trustless nature, to facilitate money laundering. "

No it's designed to eliminate debasement and inflation

It's required because of PoW.

I'd say every bank teller in the USA driving to work every day is a total waste of energy.

Honest question for the great minds who hang out here but; why don't we 'harvest' the landfills?

thanks

good-day.

Didn't they just declare AntiFa and Proud Boys terrorist groups? Better not wear black downtown after 9pm or you might catch a free "UBER".
It's not really the media though. It's respected doctors and their ep·i·de·mi·ol·o·gy.

Trump isn't pushing sound science.

He's hoping to buffalo people (like you) into thinking he's on to something. AND THE MEDIA IS SO AGAINST HIM. EVEN THO IT REALLY HELPS THE FAKE NEWS JUST WANTS TO HURT HIM. BECAUSE THEY LOVE HILLARY

Enlighten the graduates.

How is BTC centralized.

I'm waiting.

So 10 times (the current) 7 transactions per second = 70tps.

And it needs 3TB?? Cmon, that's not lot of gain for a lot of loss of control by the average.

They have a 75" for frikin $599 and its NOT smart.

I think you win the thread.

Cheap, dumb and large. (reminds me of my ex's)

Want to vouch for the projector route if you aren't a total definitionphile.

I have a $80 one off Amazon with 4000 4.5 star reviews. Gives about a 8'x6' pic on my bedroom wall. Has all the inputs.

Eighty dollars!

Re:Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index on Monday October 21, 2019 @02:34PM (#21315650)
Even if the 'BitCoin' <sic> is distributed exactly the same as money is now the 80/20 Where 20% of the population control 80% of the money.

Wouldn't it be better if your money (that was BitCoin <sic>) increased 2% a year instead of decreased 2% a year?

Re:Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index on Monday October 21, 2019 @02:31PM (#21315608)
So you're essentially saying:

"If you have cash, you should gamble it by investing it in stocks or business."

but that's risking the money I earned. I don't want to risk it, I earned it, I just want to save it and not have it evaporate over the years.

>...assets would have been possible without your labor, so actually your net worth seems ever more justified.

What? No, how is it justified?

Try again.

They seem to have sustained this far.
But no one would have taken it seriously without FB pushing it.
Re:Paypal Withdraws from Facebook's Libra Cryptocurrency on Saturday October 05, 2019 @08:02PM (#21168823)
What about cash though? Isn't that stuff used for black market?
Are you high?

But criminals don't want their transactions recorded in a immutable ledger for all eternity...

...I hear they use Monero

Re:Crypto Market Crash Leaving Bankrupt Startups in Its Wake on Sunday December 09, 2018 @04:26PM (#18643383)
And the industry leader (Kodak) at the time didn't think digital would be useful and delayed R&D. But don't worry they came up with Kodakcoin!
I mean I hear ya but it seems a little bias when they are 'projecting'. I mean, if I had 0 wives last week, got married this week, does that mean in 2 months i'll have 8 wives? (no i am not in UT)

"Here we show that projected Bitcoin usage, should it follow the rate of adoption of other broadly adopted technologies"

TF are "GWs and GWs" ?

Robots?

Trained via software updates and built under the guise of something innocent like 'gardener bots'

Re:Quantum Computers Are the Future Nukes of the IT World on Friday September 21, 2018 @02:21PM (#18041611)
I'd have to say that the blockchain would just go quantum too. NBD
Wow I was in HVAC for 15 years and NEVER heard about 'greenfreeze' WOW.

Thanks for links!

Shit Son, that was real.

I have always thought that recycling is a scam. That it really only makes sense for things like glass and some metals. But everyone is caught up in the feel goodness and if you don't you're some kind of animal.

I say put everything in the landfill, we will one day harvest it and all that resource will be in one place!

I have to agree with you on the debate being framed by the addiction treatment lobby. I don't have any direct proof, but I have heard scores of stories about "treatment salesmen" connecting to peoples mothers and grandfathers to offer help with their addicted relative. All to shuffle feet through specific treatment centers doors.

With that going on, I wouldn't doubt if it was the old "budweiser lobbying against weed" dealy.

As mining is an economic investment, they want cheap electricity. Cheap electricity is where there is excess that is not being used and would be otherwise wasted. That's why there aren't many large mining operations in NYC but there are in upstate NY near hydro.
