No that’s all you. He just made it easier.
Re:Alibaba hikes DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731 output prices by 230% on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @02:55AM (#50177010)
What would you say real talent looks like? Is it just about hard work, or something else?
Re:I'm in a Meeting on Friday October 09, 2026 @01:48PM (#50024189)
Same, wonder if that’s an ADD thing. Because most people don’t seem to have the same issue
Re:I'm in a Meeting on Friday October 09, 2026 @01:47PM (#50024173)
Because it’s interesting and useful (and if it isn’t, then a handcoded bespoke design wasn’t going to make it useful)
Re:Open Source as We Know It Is Dead on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @01:01AM (#49974386)
And even if a contribution is helpful (like a feature you hadn’t thought of or a bug you hadn’t encountered) you’re better off writing the change yourself.
Would love to be a fly on the wall in whatever board room in the world has somebody saying “yes, we could increase profits by doing X, but that would be unethical so of course we won’t”
Re:Salesforce Global Outage on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @09:56AM (#49727124)
Arguably, making customers and partners feel good is the more important part of the business
Re:Bill Gates tries to install MovieMaker on Monday September 07, 2026 @03:05PM (#49601807)
Exactly. Jack Welsh’s management philosophy just further incentivizes doing what you can to bring everyone else (ie the company) down to make yourself look better.
Re:Endless sitcom using Minimax H3 and a turbo LoRA on Sunday August 30, 2026 @11:29PM (#49505265)
Well the link above showed a fully nude woman on first open, so maybe something like that
Re:CMS with AI, Not AI CMS: Wagtail 8.0's New API on Thursday August 27, 2026 @05:20PM (#49471428)
How’s this compare to primo.build?
They’re just doing what they’re told to do by the shareholders. They’re the largest cogs sure, but cogs nonetheless, and they’re replaced just as quickly when they fail to make choices that maximize profit above all else.
Re:Was Modern Art a CIA Psy-Op? (2020) on Monday August 24, 2026 @10:41PM (#49428488)
Are you saying modern art is positive?
Moral licensing probably. If they get social points for building a “fair” product they’re less incentivized to be “fair” in other areas. Also why the people who virtue signal the most tend to be the quite rude irl.
Re:Claude Seems Down on Sunday August 16, 2026 @06:09PM (#49324231)
As opposed to what?
Re:Every Fucking Website (2020) on Friday August 14, 2026 @12:18PM (#49300845)
Absolutely. Maybe the answer is that everyone should just rank them up to 11 until it stops working and then people have to get creative again.
Re:Dear people who work at the airport on Friday August 14, 2026 @12:14PM (#49300790)
Probably the lowest paid job where you have to wear a full uniform and people’s lives depend on you (at least, that’s the expectation)
Re:Dear people who work at the airport on Friday August 14, 2026 @12:12PM (#49300760)
Angry customers yelling at them also helps explains why they yell at customers (hurt people hurt people etc)
Re:Ethical Cold Outreach on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @01:46AM (#49268242)
Yeah, wish I’d ignored them sooner. “Spammers” don’t care if they bother people with offers that have no potential to benefit them. But actual entrepreneurs wanting to serve people with their products need to know that cold outreach is essential to get off the ground, and that they should fiercely ignore the people that call it spamming.
Re:Ethical Cold Outreach on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @01:42AM (#49268212)
Silver lining of the digital ecological collapse: we’re forced to find worth and connection irl
Re:Ethical Cold Outreach on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @01:40AM (#49268193)
Lmao “if I need it I’ll just Google it and give my business to whoever paid the most to show up on the first page, thankfully those people don’t also spend tons on advertising too”
Re:Ethical Cold Outreach on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @01:37AM (#49268179)
That’s fine for you but if you’re extrapolating that to everyone then… well you’re wrong. Otherwise people wouldn’t still be doing it.

Otherwise you’re just stating your preferences to internet strangers who have no idea who you are. What else don’t you like, pineapple on pizza?

American public schools? Since when? All I remember is “they threw tea in the harbor because taxes were so bad” and “George Washington just wanted everyone to finally have freedom”. Yes they teach about slavery and Chinese labor, but I’m talking about the founding myth specifically.
Wow I’ve never seen someone else in the wild talk about this, it’s like a collective psychosis. Every time I hear “the founding fathers would be turning in their grave if they saw this corruption” I roll my eyes. The MO since the beginning has been propaganda and war.

You must not be American?

Bet we’re less than 5 years from that tbh
Exactly right, and same for society in general. There’s a degree to which humans work okay in their primitive state (hunter-gatherers, small homogenous communities), but once scaling and technology enters the picture we’re 100% toast without a fundamental recalibration towards genuinely caring for one another.
Re:ChatGPT Work on Thursday July 09, 2026 @02:33PM (#48850459)
Not sure if the cause but there’s this overarching absolute neglect of UX. Maybe they’re all just trying to grab as much market share as humanly possible, but imo it seems more likely they’ll lose each segment to products that actually make sure the experience isn’t absolute dog shit.
Re:Grok 4.5 on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @06:41PM (#48838340)
So annoying having to virtue signal to the machine before it’ll tell me factual information
Re:Tiny data centre used to heat public swimming pool on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @10:39AM (#48832611)
Why, is there some hidden downside to living by a data center? Northern VA real estate is super pricey but they’ve got tons of them
Re:Astro 7.0 on Tuesday July 07, 2026 @03:37PM (#48822649)
What’s AstroCMS?
This is an actual dream come true
