By end game you can just have blueprints and robots build everything for you.
Meanwhile they want to fire even more people there.
Being affected downstream means it's a security incident regardless? I don't understand why you think this is misleading, incomplete context in the title? Sure.
Yeah, but every now and then someone working for Anthropic tweets something, everyone quotes it as gospel, but there's no official statement anywhere on their website. They have the worst communication ever, it's one of the things I like the least about Anthropic.
I've talked to someone who has worked at those companies, and they drink the koolaid that people like Sam Altman shove down your throat, even when its blatantly bullshit.
Note that both Sam Altman and Dario have conveniently watered down AGI, and moved away from "trying to achieve AGI" essentially.
I don't get the obsession with more code. Whatever happened to good development practices? Many of which, if followed allow LLMs to work more efficiently ironically enough. I would rather hear that you've fixed bugs that have stumped your dev team for years, and have had next to no outages, to me that's more valuable than just slopping features out the door.
I do .NET full time, every shop I've worked at was on Azure. It makes the most sense for .NET developers, but I'd personally prefer to just rent dedicated servers at this point.
It's the cryptobro craze but for AI. It's tiresome, I don't have AI fatigue, I love using Claude, I have aibro fatigue. I'll lump in the people all in on AI, and that includes anyone who hates it vehemently because they just have to sour conversations.
At some point, you wont even own the IP, companies will haggle for which IPv4 port you "own" instead.
> There is a long-lived and incredible community of classic gaming emulation work online for it to reference. And that community has created…conformance tests! Opus found them and built against one, that has >3k golden instructions
I'm doing something similar but not for an emulator, using tests other projects in a similar space use to validate things.
I also know a friend that feeds Claude Gherkin formatted test criteria, and apparently that yields insanely good Claude output.
Honestly, maybe the real answer is someone needs to make IPv8 or whatever as a better alternative that's easier to adopt? sigh.
What I really don't understand is IPv6 has been around... decades now... why the heck havent we started forcing it more and more?
Personally, for blog posts, documentation (unless I flat out vibe code the entire thing) etc are all written by me by hand. If the model can save me hours of "oops that was really dumb of me" why can't I take time to read and document things by hand? I think everyone's embracing AI in the wrong ways. Maintain your knowledge of things, and keep the documents nice. There's still room for letting your agent manage agent specific docs, but for the humans, just write it yourself, ask the model for feedback and tweak it by hand. Let the machine talk to the machines.
I mean, I drive a Toyota Venza from 2011 and finding parts outside of shelling out insane amounts of cash to Toyota is a pain, and that's Toyota. There seem to be random bits an parts that are unique to my car.
Sure, but that's not the case for every question. I've found questions spanning various languages, .NET is more damning because the mod didn't apparently know that .NET Framework and .NET Core are distinctively different, so the problem might "look" related, but its not .NET Framework and .NET Core were NOT compatible at all. .NET 5+ became a .NET Core rebrand, and .NET Framework is basically abandonware. You cannot import .NET Framework libraries into .NET (Core / 5+) projects, but the confusion comes from libraries that migrated to Core and beyond, so a problem looks "familiar" but its completely different runtimes and in some cases underlying third-party code.
Honestly, if the "duplicate" question is older than 5 or 10 years they should force the mod to prove its resolved the same way before marking it duplicate.
> Your question was neither deleted nor locked. It was closed as a duplicate
Fair, I got my wording wrong, its been a while since I've landed on the site... Sadly, I used to love reading SO for fun and to learn random tidbits.
I've run into way too many "this is a duplicate of" and its referencing something from 2003 in 2025 where the runtime has changed, and a similar looking issue was confused for the actual issue, the resolution in the linked "duplicate" doesn't apply or work. In my opinion, if you're going to call something a duplicate, prove that the solution there works before you lock it down.
They need to stop clarifying on HN and X and MiGente / MySpace / Angelfire and whatever else and update their damn docs, I am not taking a risk on my account because of he said she said.
> And we know why. It's because of their hostile attitude towards their users.
That and [redacted] mods who delete your question “because its a duplicate” but its not, you just assume it is and lock it. Lots of this when .NET Core came out and it drove me up a wall. Wouldnt surprise me if a lot of “hallucination” type answers come from bad Stack Overflow data being interpreted as “fact” in earlier models.
I think for the past year anyone determined enough could direct Claude to make the codebase look purely human.
Oh man, I just looked it up on my phone (still at work LOL) and I have go to go back to reading books when I play Elder Scrolls, I always seem to read only the ones without the funny stories in them for some reason...
I don't mind Carbon, Argon kind of throws me off because my brain autocompletes to Argonian... I still have no idea what the different ones from OpenAI mean. Can we just go back to "Silver, Gold, Platinum" for naming things? Something simple we've all understood, always.
I was both excited and disappointed to learn that Claude Code has plugins, but they're not like actual plugins to let you customize CC, which would be nice.
Claude Code wont let me use their sub with one as far as I remember. So I'm stuck with their convoluted TUI. It does what I need, and when it doesn't I just build tools that Claude consumes. The new "Artifacts" feature has helped a bit though.
I mean, I agree with you, I'm just basing my thoughts of what I've seen managers at different companies prioritize as "important" even when engineers cry that a security issue should be of higher priority...
The issue with Windows is they eventually force it on you, no matter what.
People would have to use it in some drastic catastrophic way for them to force it out in an update, which they might push it out in the next macOS update, which don't come nearly as frequently as Windows bloatware updates do.
I remember as a 14 year old (2004) thinking about how I'd make sites like TPB or 4chan without getting it shut down, a place that anyone could speak freely. Then Kim Dotcom happened, and even Lavabit, and I'm sure many others.
It's a thankless thing, but we need more people who are willing to just do it. Now I know some of you will point out that Kim Dotcom was hosting movies, shows, music, etc. That's not my point, look at HOW they took him down, and WHEN. They were trying to pass SOPA, claiming it would help them take down people like Kim Dotcom "because they couldn't" so what they did to Kim Dotcom was questionable from a legal perspective...
Sigh. I really do miss the internet before the 2nd and 3rd waves of "Eternal September" (Facebook then Smartphones) it was much nicer.
> 2022: Apple's iPhone Emergency SOS gave Globalstar a major new purpose.
I wondered who it was that Apple was using for that but never looked into it. Was it for any particular reason on Apple's part other than it probably saved them a bundle compared to going with literally anyone else? Or is there something else I'm missing? Just curious. I wish I could be a fly on the wall for some of these corporate events nobody thinks too much about.
The biggest interesting thing to me about Zig is that is is a true spiritual successor to C.
