Re:What Does a Database for SSDs Look Like?

I’m a bit disappointed the article doesn’t mention Aerospike. It’s not a rdbms but a kvdb commonly used in adtech, and extremely performant on that use case. Anyway, it’s actually designed for ssds, which makes it possible to persist all writes even when the nic is saturated with write operations. Of course the aggregated bandwidth of the attached ssd hardware needs to be faster than the throughput of the nic, but not much, there’s very little overhead in the software.

There’s no OS that doesn’t have problems with wireless headsets in Teams. Bluetooth and sound stacks is a badly/barely working combination everywhere. Hibernation is usually the test that fails the sound stacks everywhere.

Places might be officially regulated, but neither government agencies, healthcare, finance or defense industries are as strict as you think. People have to get stuff done, and most are usually quite incompetent in these protected industries.
Microsoft’s sales reps know this.

AD is just sourcesafe/tfs/vsts with rebranding, each time trying to get rid of the bad reputation in developer circles.

Github, i.e. MSFT will of course adjust their offer if they would start seeing an significant exodus. They could afford being a loss leader indefinitely.
There’s also a large bunch of projects that will never leave, some of which ms have influence over. I mean, some high profile open source projects hasn’t even left source forge yet, even though it has been malware infested shithole for decades.

Don’t forget the windows tax!
When building on self-hosted windows machines, you actually pay three times.
Oh I wish I could make my customers pay three times for everything I deliver, I might be as rich as Bill by now.
