Re:The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks on Monday November 02, 2026 @02:59PM (#50342788)
I’ve been really impressed with the current frontier models’ capabilities to build native macOS/iOS apps. I’ve had Claude build native apps which I would have built as web apps not long ago.

Also, when I first started out building with AI I made sure it would use frameworks and programming languages I know. Now I don’t care at all and let it choose the best technology. I don’t read a single line of code it generates and only work in the harnesses, never in an editor anymore.

I’m only building apps for myself and I’m not a professional developer.

These demos got me exited. Sitting in front of my computer telling ChatGPT what to do while watching the results in realtime. Hope this ends up working in reality.

Re:ChatGPT Work on Friday July 10, 2026 @08:37AM (#48859044)
Wow, this is the worst update I've ever seen. Highly confusing and atrocious UX. Where are my chats? Where are my projects? Why do I get a window inside the ChatGPT app for new chats now? Why does switching between Work and Codex not do anything? Are both the same? How can a company like OpenAI mess up so badly? Unless I figure out a painful way to work with this, I don't see myself using this anymore.

EDIT 1: I just want a list of my chats. Insane how they butchered their app. Work sounds nice until yo find out that none of the plugins work for my apps and there 5 hour are usage limits like CC does them.

EDIT 2: This is trash. They buried chats so deep in the new app they're unusable now. The whole list is hidden, and yo can't search for chats anymore. Also my projects are gone on macOS. In the iOS app my latest project has become a pinned folder? A function that doesn't even exist in the macOS app.

EDIT 3: Managed to get the old version back using home-brew. OpenAI help pages say the old app should remain as ChatGPT Classic but it didn't for me and there is no download offered.

I'm not interested in Work.

Yes, this kind of writing is rampant on X. Once you know it's coming from an LLM (mostly ChatGPT in my opinion as it uses this style often) you can't unsee it. And that immediately makes me skip it.
This site gives me anxiety
Re:Charlie Kirk shot at event in Utah on Wednesday September 10, 2025 @05:04PM (#45203703)
Absolutely terrible. I barely knew Charlie from seeing a few videos of his debates. It’s so tragic that someone making a point by peaceful debates is getting shot for what he did.

See that tiny arrow on the left bottom? You can collapse the container by clicking that.

Really shitty UX.

Super fun project – love it!

Nice, tried with a scam text I received today. 95% sure it was scam.
Re:Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max on Tuesday September 10, 2024 @11:34AM (#41501827)
I have an iPhone 11 Pro. One of the lenses is broken and it makes a weird snaring sound while recording video. Battery life is still okay at about 80% capacity. It does everything I need it to do without fail.

If it weren’t for those defects I’d keep it at least for another year.

Truly alien
When I went to Death Valley the first thing I saw were signs telling you how many people had died from the heat in that year. Then it started raining.
Re:How to hire low experience, high potential people on Wednesday February 07, 2024 @11:43AM (#39290755)
This is highly inappropriate for a job interview at least in my country. You can’t ask these type of personal questions. Who would feel comfortable sharing this with a complete stranger anyway?

The authors for Dune (Frank Herbert) and Meditations (Marcus Aurelius) are not correct

Nothing beats Rails productivity for me, and I’ve been working with Rails on and off for more than a decade.
This is terrible - in a good way

What kind of extended COVID effects did you have? I have a nagging cough about six weeks after my infection.

“Rather, the model’s configuration of numerical weights stores different attributes and features of a training image — edges, shapes, colors, and even abstract concepts related to what’s depicted”

How is this kind of information extracted into the model in the first place? Let’s say I train the model on pictures of dogs. How does the information about the dog’s body parts, their look and proper orientation end up in the model?

That’s what OP´s title suggests
Exactly my experience. Rails allows me to build quickly and iterate even faster. Highly recommended. Hotwire is pretty cool, too. I‘ve built an action palette type of dialog with keyboard navigation without any stateful JavaScript (except for the cursor).
Re:Imagen, a text-to-image diffusion model on Tuesday May 24, 2022 @05:30AM (#31489843)
Can anybody give me short high-level explanation how the model achieves these results? I'm especially interested in the image synthesis, not the language parsing.

For example, what kind of source images are used for the snake made of corn[0]? It's baffling to me how the corn is mapped to the snake body.

I can’t wrap my head around how those Cryptopunk NFTs can be sold for millions of dollars. Is it actually possible to cash out on those and convert their value to a real fiat currency?
Prices have gone up sharply since the fourth wave in Europe. I remember seeing self-tests for 0.85 in summer. Now they‘re going for 3.00 bucks or so.
I don't doubt that there are some legitimate use cases for SUVs. The problem is all the people living in cities have virtually zero need for an SUV. Since it is absolutely unfeasible to require people to provide proof that they need an SUV before purchase the only way seems to outlaw them.

The massive push for EVs while simultaneously allowing car manufacturers to build larger and larger ICE SUVs seems stupid and counterproductive.

A huge percentage (about 20%) of all cars I see are SUVs. Even for smaller cars there seems to be a trend towards really bulky bodies. Cars have become larger and larger over the years.

We have a giant problem with climate change yet car manufacturers keep making larger and larger cars. And people buy them. This does not make any sense to me. It only accelerates climate change, parking spaces become even harder to find in cities, and most people don't need an SUV at all.

I think SUVs and all large trucks that are not real utility vehicles should be outlawed.
