Re:As AI gobbles up chips, prices for devices may rise on Monday December 29, 2025 @03:16AM (#46418527)
Is there any reason to believe that this will happen? Prices of graphic cards only went down after the crypto boom went down again.
Not necessarily living in another country, but a large part of the world, especially in industrialized countries, learns English. Neither regional nor national, but of course because it is the lingua franca.
Re:Understanding the War in Ukraine on Friday February 25, 2022 @03:33AM (#30464944)
How does this show anything? Yeah, if after years and years of low level war and displacement of political enemies and being de facto controlled by Russian troops you hold a referendum that is boycotted by all but the separatists, of course the separatists will win! But that is so far from any valid referendum that accepting it as such seems dubious at best.
Other cultures require you to get a lot closer than a handshake.
Re:Austria makes Covid19 vaccination mandatory as of Feb 2022 on Friday November 19, 2021 @06:21AM (#29276080)
Well, it's not like in France, so I don't see your point. Hospitals in Salzburg and Österreich can't treat emergency patients properly anymore for lack of capacity. Also year round numbers won't help you if the cases are clustered.
Re:Austria makes Covid19 vaccination mandatory as of Feb 2022 on Friday November 19, 2021 @06:15AM (#29276046)
We don't have mandatory smallpox vaccines in Austria anymore, even though we had them in the past. I really see no way how these energency powers will stay.
Re:Austria makes Covid19 vaccination mandatory as of Feb 2022 on Friday November 19, 2021 @05:27AM (#29275715)
Desperate times and all that. With a incident rate of >1000 (and a lot higher in some hotspots), hospitals are at their breaking point right now.
Re:Waymo will start testing self-driving cars in New York City on Wednesday November 03, 2021 @02:22PM (#29098454)
Banning all other traffic is of course a solution, but it is hugely unpopular for obvious reasons, so I doubt it will pass.
Re:They don't even know the fundamentals on Monday November 01, 2021 @08:17AM (#29065719)
I think you misunderstood his point, I think what he's saying is that even good back end devs are horrible at designing UI and you need different people with different specialisations on a team.

Yes, you get the monthly salary 14 times, the last two are taxed at lower rates.
Re:Overwork contributes to 745k premature deaths per year on Saturday May 29, 2021 @04:46AM (#27323904)
That's definitely true, but not the only important thing in such a comparison. Germans work only 75% of the hours Americans do per year, and a lot of that is cultural.
I've done that with multiple girlfriends and it never was a problem? How do you expect them to react?
Re:Why American construction costs are so high (2019) on Wednesday April 28, 2021 @01:40PM (#26972007)
Outside of Manhattan this is unlikely, Paris is much denser than NYC and the difference in GDP or however you want to measure economic productivity is too small to make much of a difference.
Re:EU to unveil landmark law curbing power of tech giants on Tuesday December 15, 2020 @12:06PM (#25432209)
Depends on your location. In 2010 Firefox had 60% market share in Germany.
Re:Europe's night trains are on track for a resurgence on Tuesday December 15, 2020 @03:05AM (#25428097)
At which price point for CO2? Current estimates of >70€ per ton could make a flight from London to Berlin about 10€ more expensive.
In what way do consumers not prioritize Android devices? Android has about 75% market share.

Your Michelin starred restaurants are doing alright compared to which country? Many countries are doing better than the US there, both per capita and even absolute.
