Re:Google Search is now less than half of Alphabet’s revenue on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:56PM (#50293236)
I have started to use the interactive Google summary chat, it's nice to have that initial search result context to follow up on with more questions
yeah... I don't hope for a doomsday scenario but I do think it would be neat to use these HAM-based internet tech or whatever. Funny how tech becomes obsolete too like same thing but faster/slower. I still mess around with almost 20 year old computers for fun.
they can't block the ionosphere

but what if they could... they dump chaff in the air

No my case is drinking, going out, working on stopping. But also I have a shit ton of debt like $100K of debt.

It is crazy I used to live on $20k/yr as a dishwasher, lifestyle inflation is real.

My Jira tickets are written by AI started just feeding the ticket into AI (shrugs)

No I only do that for unit tests so far

I went through like a mid-life crisis when the thing I learned/spent last 13 years on became meaningless.

Man that annoys me calling some place and it's that openai voice answering

Re:Recreational Programming on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @08:51PM (#50081039)
I saw another guy I'm trying to find, he's Asian, one of the projects he did was make a map from raw OSM nodes I think. But he used a "niche" language like Zed and worked directly with GL idk was trying to find him. One of those really really good programmers. His videos are in English. The map is like Brooklyn or some part of NY.
I think the menu shouldn't freeze when it's loading

Funny I don't think there is a fast forward button? guess that's realistic ha

Re:How to build a printer on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @12:23PM (#49629068)
Might be a good buy, I don't print much mostly need black and white shipping labels
Re:How to build a printer on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @11:10AM (#49627886)
I did open the thread and didn't see an actual printer shown except the e-ink device but aside from that, I hate printers buy a cartridge it's empty after 3 prints wtf... now I just go walk into some store like Walgreens to print stuff

If you like e-ink device reviews this is an artsy channel think small leather notebooks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oOqFUuULOk

For me my favorite is the RM2 but I keep selling/buying it back due to poor financial decisions but I love how it writes and long battery, plus hackable, never paid for a subscription. It is an extra device too so unfortunately not used that often I spend most of my time in front of a desktop but have multiple laptops too/drawing tablets.

Re:Reverse Engineering My ADHD Test on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @11:12AM (#49523065)
I feel like I would have been a different person if I was diagnosed. Probably finished my physics/aero degree. But idk... I would buy it and it was fun to do recreationally which supposedly means you don't have ADHD. Anyway I ended up not finishing school but I got lucky that I still became an SWE.

People would say "just ask for it" but I remember having to try and do these tests like look at these abstract shapes and what not. It was multiple sessions I eventually ran out of insurance so yeah I just abandoned it. I don't like the side effect of shrinkage down there when you're on uppers.

Re:Mechanical Turk shutting down September 30 on Thursday August 27, 2026 @10:53AM (#49465873)
That's crazy I remember doing work on there a long time ago. It was sus work like manipulating Google SEO rank by looking up and clicking links. But still it was real money even if it was pennies.

I think the weirdest thing I had to do was scan through social media images... so weird seeing into random people's lives.

I did it in the late 2000s or early 2010s.
