Hi Scott! Yes, racists are wrong and calling them out works.
Strong with the weak, weak with the strong.
Re:Racket-embed-images-in-source-text on Sunday December 29, 2024 @07:29PM (#42545025)
Because the whole thing is about embedding images as text, so the interesting bit is not showing the image, but the resulting encoding in the racket source.
Re:The rule says, “No vehicles in the park” on Saturday June 24, 2023 @06:12AM (#36457289)
> The park could contain loose soil on the edge of a cliff, so any vehicle driving there could cause a landslide that topples the vehicle over the cliff and could kill anyone on the beach below. No vehicles in the park.

That would be a terrible phrasing then. It should have been phrased something like "Landslide hazard, no weight more than 1ton allowed anywhere in the park." or something in that vein.

Looks like that lawyer guy is not new on hacking stuff: https://matthewbutterick.com/

Not exactly the curriculum of a twitter weirdo.

Re:YouTubeDrive: Store files as YouTube videos on Wednesday May 25, 2022 @08:11AM (#31503377)
AFAIK twitch deletes your saved streams after some time.
This happens to me with pins. Basically I don't remember the numbers, just the shape they form when entered in the keypad.

I recently opened a new account with a bank and their app has a randomized keypad and now I'm screwed.

Take a look at seedboxes.

You're right, and donwvotes are from that kind of people.

For hobby projects maybe, if it's part of your job you should know what you're doing and read the fine manual (basic documentation in this case).

Re:Fired App Reviewer Sues Apple on Friday January 01, 2021 @08:01AM (#25602954)
Well, that is what most of your users would have done anyway. You dealt with a reviewer instead of multiple angry users that couldn't log in, looks like the review process works.

Same experience with Gentoo and Arch.
Re:Krita 4.3.0 on Thursday June 25, 2020 @11:08AM (#23641593)
Me and my daughters love Krita. Even with a cheap pen tablet it's a lot of fun. I set up a monthly payment of 1€, a small contribution to its development.
Re:Racket is 25 on Sunday May 10, 2020 @10:43AM (#23132981)
I don't know why "application performance" is brought up here, do you mean adoption?

I think Racket is a pretty bad choice, I'm from Italy and here you find that word in news about mafia and organized crime, so imagine the kind of association it bears with it.

Naming things is hard, but sometimes hackers seem to choose to make it harder... https://racket-lang.org/new-name.html

You'd have the same problem with pagination, you'd need to Ctrl+f on each page.

Solution? Use the website's search form.

I don't get this.

My solution is to use uBlock Origin and block tracking altogether.

This still allows GA to track you, it just removes some information from the tracking beacon.

Re:Doing a database join with CSV files on Tuesday December 31, 2019 @03:01PM (#21924217)
Also csvkit, xsv is way faster but less feature-complete (based on my experience last time I used both)
Re:Doing a database join with CSV files on Tuesday December 31, 2019 @03:00PM (#21924210)
The problem most of the times is correctly parsing the CSV files.
I think people are stupid, it's our right to be and things should be designed with this in mind.

I agree that using the world "stupid" could be ill-receive and other words could avoid this problem, but with the right audience this shouldn't be a problem.

Re:How Do Bullets Work in Video Games? on Wednesday December 25, 2019 @10:58AM (#21878980)
Quake 3 (now Quakelive or Quake Champions): rocket launcher, granade launcher, plasma gun, nail gun.
If you open more than one draw at a time you would unbalance the drawer and it would tip over, falling on you and possibly injuring your feet and damaging your stuff and the floor.

This safety mechanism is not there if the drawer is embedded in a larger frame where tipping over is not possible.

Sometimes it's not bad UX, it's just the thing trying to protect you from your stupidity.

Re:Going from macOS to Ubuntu on Wednesday October 30, 2019 @06:58AM (#21396319)
Why `&& true` after that apt command?
In Italy we have an entire region (Molise) that doesn't exist.

Do other countries have their own non-existent places too?

Re:Show HN: Turn an Excel file into a web application on Tuesday May 21, 2019 @08:10AM (#19969365)
I've been able to learn vim because the web is full of high quality content that will teach it from the basics in a way that's compatible with my mindset.

I never had the same experience learning Excel, maybe the problem is my mindset. The only learning experience I enjoyed about excel is 'You suck at Excel' by Joel Spolsky.

Can someone recommend a good Excel learning path for someone in this situation?
