Re:How do you deal with AI Output of your boss? on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:16AM (#50148633)
I've had this same experience with a client, except they refuse to send me any prompts at all. I'm forced to take the slop and do something with it even though it's contradictory and in many cases counterproductive. Unfortunately this strange behavior is causing many of this person's stakeholders and collaborators to just outright disregard his demands and form a curious 'shadow organization' just to get day-to-day work done. The client is frustrated that nobody is listening to him but it's not really him speaking, is it?
Re:Sprout – A modern, RP2350-powered motherboard for iPods on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @02:08AM (#50083056)
Recently I went through the process of restoring a 3rd gen iPod and this was the only thought in my head the entire time. I really, really hope this works out!

Damn that is a useful repo... Thank you for sharing!
Re:M5Stack Launches PaperMono on Thursday August 27, 2026 @02:29PM (#49469170)
I wouldn't anticipate too much from m5stack. They have a habit of developing products that are well designed from a physical standpoint... but when you try to develop with them one finds that the software and support needed to achieve your goals are half-baked and downright annoying. UIFlow1/2, I'm looking at you...

Re:Fairphone is now officially available in the United States on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @01:50AM (#49357393)
I purchased a Fairphone 6 thinking I was going to solve a lot of issues I had with more popular phone models. This has not been the case. I think that when all is said and done, Fairphone will have done more to hurt the concept of device repairability than help it.

Examples: Within a month of purchase, the little upper speaker grill/mesh sticker fell out. Now this is why I bought a Fairphone - a few clicks, a few days wait and a few screws later and I can easily replace it... not the case. They wanted me to warranty/send in my phone for a sticker replacement on "the world's most repairable phone." Not a great first impression.

Another system update they shipped bricked my sim card. No support, no help, just me with a permanent fear of installing any updates in the future.

I checked the prices for a round trip in December - $1200+ per passenger. I can't imagine how much it would be without a subsidy.
Interesting. Where I live, the "hooligan" e-bikes are primarily owned and operated by groups of older retirees who refuse to separate themselves from pedestrians. When one mixes the two, any speed is dangerous.
Shouldn't this link directly to the paper in question, instead of... Shuffles papers... Courthousenews?
I'm very interested in moving away from after effects - hearing of your success is encouraging! Can you recommend any resources for making the jump?
Wow these are beautiful machines - thanks for the tip!
Re:The First Compact Disc Player: Sony's 1982 CDP-101 on Thursday March 12, 2026 @02:51AM (#47347328)
What a beautiful piece of hardware. I'd love to see a comeback of this design style.
Re:What Happened to Fry's Electronics on Thursday February 26, 2026 @03:31AM (#47163457)
The highlight of my childhood (not to mention the basic consumer education for my eventual career in computing) was wandering the aisles of the Fry's in Campbell, CA. When that wasn't possible, I would spend hours reading the massive advertising spreads in the Sunday Mercury News, building my dream computer. Truly, my best buys... were always at Fry's! Guaranteed.
