Doesn't an enterprise account already use API rates? If that's the case, there's no difference. You'll end up paying less because Pi will typically use less tokens for the same texture of requests.
I guess I'll ask what weird definitions of safety you've been seeing.
I don't see the virtue in it?
Re:Understanding Frontier Artificial Intelligence on Saturday October 03, 2026 @05:20AM (#49942626)
I agree. Some title edits are clarifying, but this one isn't helpful.

The paper is about super-intelligence (not in the way people are claiming that term now, but in the "beyond human intelligence" sense), and the title here is about the "frontier", which by definition is the current SoTA.

Re:Boot a Virtual iPhone via Apple's Virtualization.framework on Saturday August 29, 2026 @05:28AM (#49488332)
This is virtualization, so localhost will just be the virtual iphone itself. But you should have some command of how hosts are resolved, so you can always point the browser to the device hosting what you want to test, no?

Even easier, of course, is just using the iOS simulator included with xcode, which runs on your host computer. There, localhost resolves to your host computer.

> The point "AI is structurally a technology that tends to concentrate power" is not that correct. They need this statement to be true, otherwise no way to justify the trillion evaluations.

How is it not true?

The biggest companies in the world are, quite obviously (just look at the numbers) going to be AI companies. The most powerful governments in the world are quite clearly going to be those that are close to (or in control of) AI companies. People have a very hard time seeing the second order effects of the control of intelligence - we need to fix that.

Re:I Built a Telegram Client for Pi on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @07:42PM (#48838926)
There'd be no shame either way. Pi is built on the idea that you should ask it to extend itself.
Re:I Built a Telegram Client for Pi on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @07:41PM (#48838914)
Why not just have multiple instances of pi inside one of the many multiplexers out there? Tmux, Zelliij, herdr, for example.
Output quality immediately comes to mind, of course.

Models are converging, but they converge in bands, and frontier is frontier. I would not like to have any workflows in any area of my business where output is generated by an assortment of models from different providers. For trivial, mundane tasks that might be fine, but it certainly doesn't apply across the board.

is there prior art to the EU banning a new technology to protect an old one?
Re:What is it like to be a bat? (1974) [pdf] on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @05:24PM (#48482919)
They can make the claim to know what it is like to be you as much as you can make the claim that you know what it is like to be a bat.
Re:VoidZero Is Joining Cloudflare on Thursday June 04, 2026 @04:14PM (#48404002)
Could they? Under what business model? Maybe the numbers for the paid products just weren't there and they see this exit as a positive for the team?

Yes. Zed connects to Claude Code via ACP.

Re:Anthropic acquires Stainless on Monday May 18, 2026 @06:19PM (#48186571)
They most certainly are. This is Jevons paradox.
If it does do that, it doesn't feel that way. I never found it particularly repetitive.
I legitimately have no idea what "SS" means next to a port, and I've seen it plenty of times. Labeling doesn't solve everything. The message on screen that you get when you plug something into the wrong port on the Neo is, obviously, much better because it assumes nothing about the user's knowledge except for the ability to read.
Re:Zed Editor Theme-Builder on Saturday May 09, 2026 @07:04PM (#48079140)
Use the command palette to pick "agent: toggle" - that'll open the agent pane. Pick "Claude Agent" from the dropdown at the top if you see the Zed agent. Should be all you need.
That interview of their CEO with the NYT from last year was insane. If you've never seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpIXRgMlPo4
Most of the companies you've listed have been horrible at keeping kids safe - they simply don't care. I'm all for kids communicating and having fun, but we have to actually want to create safe ways to do both.
Crazy thing to say without other contextual information - it obviously depends on a number of factors. Do you have an apples to apples comparison at hand?
> It's just sad that whether you are a user or a developer, Apple Fanbois would rather (ignorantly) place Apple's interest over their own consumer rights.

You think notarizing an app is "placing Apple's interest over" our own?

Indeed. And adding on to this, in a slightly different realm, Donald Knuth's conjecture that he solved with Claude: https://www-cs-faculty.stanford.edu/%7Eknuth/papers/claude-c...
counter-intuitively, the fact that docker on the mac requires a linux-based VM makes it safer than it otherwise would be. But your point stands in general, of course.

Re:Obsidian Sync now has a headless client on Saturday February 28, 2026 @04:47PM (#47200629)
Not gp, but because the way hackernews would render in a web browser versus curl is dramatically different, of course. There's a clear separation of presentation and content, and curl shows you presentation.

Notes being plain text files means that what you get by showing via a CLI is essentially the same as just `cat whatever-it-is.md`. Viewing a note via the CLI interface could have its merits (it could apply its own flavor of presentation), but come on now. Your example doesn't hold.

Re:Fahrplan – 39C3 on Sunday December 28, 2025 @04:12AM (#46409625)
I think you're missing the ethos of the event in general, and the fact that you are pointing to tracks in the ethics track or the arts track in particular.
Re:Fahrplan – 39C3 on Friday December 26, 2025 @04:59AM (#46390747)
Can you point to some?
> all for fame and fortune

I understand the compassion for animals, of course, but not this sentence. Advancing science is not "all for fame or fortune". If it cures people, I can see it. I too would love a world without animal suffering, but I'd also love to not be literally seeing (and I just came back from my parents') my dad slip more and more into nothingness at the hand of this stupid disease.

Re:Anthropic acquires Bun on Tuesday December 02, 2025 @02:51PM (#46125895)
"Wasting" is doing a lot of work in that sentence.

They're effectively bringing on a team that's been focused on building a runtime for years. The models they could throw at the problem can't be tapped on the shoulder, and there's no guarantee they'd do a better job at building something like Bun.
