FOR THE RECORD,
Financial crashes are not "black swan" events. I've never seen a black swan in my life, but I've seen two or three financial crashes. As far as I can tell, Taleb is just a memer.
His degeneration of late is hopefully cluing people in, though the compulsion to substitute memes for thought will continue. Hey, maybe that's what IQ is, a person's likeliness to think instead of resorting to memes? Maybe that's why Taleb hates it?
What does QE have to do with anything? Also, if you think extending cheap financing to businesses during a financial collapse is wasteful you're a fool.
Pretty strange to be bitching about monetary policy then in the same breath praise pseudo-weaponized Keyensianism that doesn't even yield anything useful. Who do you work for, friend?
Don't people just write helper functions to deal with the error checking spam? It's five lines at the top of the file...
Anyway, I will miss our GOPATH overlords. I have enough decisions to make, I'm fine with the language making some for me.
It's a lot of trouble to go through to get people to forget you called some Thai firefighter a pedo on Twitter...
Eh, it's a very limited study that basically says two sets of subjective effects are similar. Useless, maybe, but not pseudo.
Will someone please update this with experiences with Ryzen?
I think the question is, what happens when we move away from this usefulness in physics? I didn't follow the paper, but some way of backdooring quantum uncertainty into classical physics might be useful, too
Another week, another example of people doing something dumb on the basis of medical superstition...
Forget that. There's example code in the standard library documentation that golint will flag. Seriously. And the devs don't give a fig, even though the "proper" way forces you to put some throwaway variable outside the if statement scope.
Golint literally suggests scope pollution. It deserves to be replaced.
The author is obviously alluding to democracy.
Suicide is the purest expression of the precautionary principle. Think about it.
Seriously, oxygen is a known carcinogen, responsible for the massive generation of free radicals in the body. Realize: look at how oxygen burns wood, it can even eat steel! And you're sucking this extremely hazardous and potent oxidizer into your body with every breath.
Finding a good doctor is harder than finding a good mechanic these days...
These medications carry black box warnings from the FDA, which means they should be used as a last resort due to significant side effects. It's great that they worked for you, but they are objectively very dangerous and should not be used unless absolutely necessary.
Don't do pills unless you're legit suicidal. Natural things like meditation and exercise are the way to go.
Take some time off work or school and make building healthy habits your one and only priority.
Take the time to reassess your life. Depression is usually a symptom of living by other people's values. Take responsibility for yourself as a human and exercise your freedom of choice, deeply.
Or just numb yourself with chemicals into whatever square hole you're trying to fit in. that's the way to make your metrics, right?
Wake me up when EUV's here...
"Cannot stop" is kind of strong. More like "have nasty side effects while tapering off and puss out".
Having been on the Zoloft,I can say is got a black box warning for a reason and should only be taken if you're seriously in danger of self harm.
Shrinks like it because it keeps people coming back. People like it because they're not willing to confront their real problems and want something to numb themselves out.
Just say "No!".
This seems more like an extension of the lymphatic system; also you're confusing musculoskeletal fascia with ground substance.
No, bodily "energy flows" are all in the head. It's very easy to think yourself into all sorts of physical sensations.
This is one of the weak points of the author's presentation. He's meaning "race" as ancestral origins grouped at the level at which there was relatively little external gene flow during premodern times, e.g groups separated by large geographic barriers like the Sahara or Pacific. Apparently, and this was the point of the article, there are significant AVERAGE genetic differences based on these groupings.
Another gun person who thinks he's living in an action movie...
Depends which kind of intelligence. If what you wrote were true, there'd be a lot fewer sanctimonious libertarians with six figure programming jobs.
The article was fine aside from not being news. But The Atlantic's quality has plummeted over the last couple months. A lot of lazy, narrative-driven pab. Someone upstairs must have decided quantity was the thing and screw quality.
