Re:Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design on Friday October 16, 2026 @06:14AM (#50116518)
Agree, but it has potential. If it was polished up a bit I would use it.
Re:Citroen revives the 2CV for an electric age on Monday October 12, 2026 @08:21AM (#50055355)
I'm really digging Citroen's design recently. Along with Renault and Hyundai, they feel like cars from the future instead of the bloated aggressive and angular design we've come to expect
We used to have that, it was called a blog. I used to subscribe to all my local politicians and journalist blogs back in the late 2000s and would recieve everything I needed in my inbox, but now everyone posts on Twitter. That's where we have ActivityPub.
And Reddit has also started blocking signed out users in my region.
I agree, it makes sense for large source-reliant projects like Wikipedia to stop using them. However, for the end-user, it's often the service that works best.

Real life is a channel of communication.

By this logic services like Telegram or Signal would be designated "terrorist organizations". But the current admin is purely vibes-based, so we'll never know for sure
If it works, it works. Also the Internet Archive also excludes many sites for ideological reasons which is the opposite of preservation
Re:SteamdDB Joins Nexus Mods on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @03:35PM (#49541261)
Just Web 2.0 and it’s consequences.
It’s about to get so much worse before we get any kind of meaningful change for the better. Buckle up
Re:So Reddit has decided that plain HTML is unsafe on Thursday July 23, 2026 @08:17AM (#49020401)
I doubt Reddit will die anytime soon, at least not within the next 5 years. They have an incredibly lucrative AI deal with Google, and their activity has skyrocketed over the last couple of years. The average person who just wants to fix their car doesn’t care about Old Reddit, the poor moderation, the spam filters, the slow website, or the removal of r/all. Most people are already used to modern web design anyway. What Reddit has is an active userbase and a huge amount of answers, and for now, that is what keeps them successful.
Re:Show HN: Super Dario on Monday July 13, 2026 @02:24PM (#48896689)
Can’t believe this doesn’t already exist.
China won’t invade Taiwan. Be realistic
Re:What was nice about the UI of Windows 2000 on Thursday June 18, 2026 @04:25PM (#48591040)
I love SerenityOS so much, I wish someone ported it as a DE to the Linux kernel so I could daily it
Of course, there are other archivers that don’t care
Re:We let AIs run radio stations on Monday May 18, 2026 @04:01PM (#48184787)
It’s just a cool tech experiment, no need to be so cynical
Does this mean HN will have to pay for all the links too? Tired of this overregulation
Based. If i read a book from a piracy site, i can still cite that book publicly. This should also apply to AI models. I am also opposed to copyright at all, but that’s another question
Not everyone is a gamer.
I think a teletext-like central information service for terminals would see use, because sometimes you just want to check the weather and news without being spammed with a billion ads and JavaScript
This is one of the reasons i loved UO. The only big MMO game that is kind of like it is Old School RuneScape as leveling a character takes ages.
